Im curious what people would rather have; AWD or RWD. Lately there has been alot of AWD hype with the EVO and the STi. Alot of higher end european cars are starting to go the AWD route.

For me the perfect car would be a 1200 HP Corvette tuned by Lingenfelter, that is RWD.

I guess RWD. Most of the cars I really like it have it. I have nothing against AWD though. It has it's benefits.

RWD for me too I guess :) or at least an AWD that drives like one (R34 Skyline or something like the "VT" by Lambo) :)

You can go very very fast with AWD, and sure you can also do some 4-wheel-slides, but for me, it's funnier to drive fast with a well balanced RWD car :D

I think a GT-R style AWD system makes the ultimate car: RWD when you want it, AWD when you need it. However, adding AWD inevitably adds weight, and since my ideal car is more in the McLaren/Ferrari methodology of light NA cars, I'd have to say RWD makes the better sportscar.

(Aside: I live in ice cold Canada, so in real life I would almost automatically choose AWD, since I otherwise couldn't drive my car in the winter. For example, I'd probably get an STi over the Z since although I prefer the Z's looks, its chassis would simply be unusable after about November.)

lol what about the FWDs?

I have several dream cars but since they're mainly RWD i'd say RWD.

depends on what you mean by supercar. a lambo or a wrx sti full on wrc car. awd for my offroad supercar and rwd for everyday. i live in so cal so i have no real reason to need awd or fwd unless im going offroading.

I live in estonia and here are same conditions. So awd is for me.RWD is only good for tarmac but i like gravel more.

Can't decide.
RWD for fun, but AWD is better for everyday use (snow, rain).

i love RWD and i love AWD so as long as its not FWD it doesnt really matter to me, if i had to choose it would be RWD

Powersliding yes, drifting no. You cant "drift" in a RWD car.

all the top Japanese drifters use rear wheel drive. AE86 Toyotas, Silvias, Lexus SC300, even the Skyline used by Nomura is RWD.

RWD is my drivetrain of choice. I like how u didtn even include FWD as an option. lol. but RWD is just so much more fun usually... oversteer is much more fun than understeer IMO, and many AWD cars suffer from at least some understeer problems.

RWD! but car companies like to keep their customers alive, so i guess AWD is gonna be showing up on a lot of desireable cars in the future
