This Z8 belongs to the owner of the dealership i work at. It barely has any miles on it because she never drives it. I don't think it's even been started in who knows how long.

Sweet, I've never seen that one around town...looks nice in black. :D

You work at Peake right?

no, Peake is in N.O. I'm at Moss in Lafayette. Where are you at school at? if you were at LSU in B.R. you aren't aren't that far. Brian Harris is also in there somewhere. I've only been here 3 months and haven't really gone out of Lafayette yet.

And you probably won't see it around down either. there is probably a flat spot in the tires AND the tile under them since it's been sitting so long

Oh, ok...I don't know if I've ever been out to Moss.

That sucks that it's been sitting for so long...

I like it a lot more in this color than in silver, it looks really nice.

I'm sure you would remember it. Its pretty small. i'm one of only 5 BMW techs, 6 if you count the foreman. as you can see the showroom only fits 3 cars :oP

not many cars look bad in black :D i think it's the best color for the Z8, especially at night

Agreed. A cute girl drives a black/red Z8 around here and I think it looks great. I rode in a silver/red one last year and the owner was really beating the hell out of it. The strange thing about the Z8 is it sounds like an american muscle car rather than say a 540i. I have always been a fan of the Z8, but I'm not sure I would ever buy one. It seems like a car without a calling. Meaning, it's not particularly fast, it's not all that comfortable, spacious, usuable as a year round daily driver, and while it looks cool it doesn't make my jaw drop like other european cars.

You just described the BMW Z1 as well.. ;)

The Z8 was meant to be a sub-supercar. It was built in a limited number, had a 400HP 302cid (5.0L)with an aggressive exhaust. Which is probably why it sounds more like a muscle car to you than what the 540's 4.4L engine does. Not to mention the fact that the Z8 and M5 share the same motor.

It was really a throw back to yesteryear's roadsters and you can see it in the instrument panel. You don't get the supercar speed but you do get the aggressive attitude from it. The high prices that these cars went for were one of the causes of it's seeming failure. (one of the few James Bond cars that had minimal success) However they are very collectible and highly treasured by their owners. (i don't think anyone besides the owner of this one shown here knows where the keys are) This is one of the VERY few cars that BMW did not extend it's usual 6-7 year run. I think the M1 was the only other car not to recieve this.

But yes, sadly there was never really a niche that these cars could settle into. It was one of BMW's most uniquely styled vehicles...aside from the Isetta of course... :D

Cool you work at a dealer. a BMW dealer at that. I was thinking about going for a job at the BMW dealer, or maybe the Porsche dealer. If i went with porsche it would be one long ass drive on workdays, but well worth it.

it would be well worth it either way :D a bit more so for BMW though IMBO

there is alot of training for the BMW systems though (the 7 series training manuals are the size of a small phone book)

but it is definetly worth it.

Never seen a Z8 without the red interior. Prefer the red leather to be honest, more in keeping with the character of the car. I love Z8's, so much more special than Merc's SL imo....

Man I hate it when people just let their cars sit. They need to be drivin! They need to be abused, and then loved (shower), just like a girl if you know what i mean.

I'm going to take some pics of a 70's vintage Lotus Europa that has apparently been sitting in a shed for dirt-knows-how-long. i looked at it one day on a test drive, it doesn't have an engine or trans in the car or even an interior for that matter.

It's a 1/4 mile or so from my dealership and i don't have the money to buy it and fix it. It turns me off though that the engine is only rated at 82HP. The idea of a Honda beating a Lotus just doesn't sit right with me :?

::edit:: pics of the lotus are now up in the photo gallery. you may want to get a tissue before viewing though..it's a sad site.
