i just picked up my very own copy of the special edition-re mastered-again-dvd's :-D widescreen naturally ;)
ive heard some potentially bad news about 're makes' of some scenes... like anikan in 'jedi' being re-worked as hayden? oi...
over the next few days, ill watch them all again, and decide if i like the 'new' scenes or not, and post reviews of those and such :)

yeah we sold all our pre-sale copies of it at Blockbuster that's about 500 copies in our store alone (we only sold about 300 copies of Passion of the Christ) and we have quite a few copies to rent (probably gone I didn't work today) I'm gonna keep my 3 VHS box sets and wait for the 6 movie box set in about 3 years. I'll just rent them for free.

ep: IV is great! :) they re-did jabba once again... now he is much more realistic, and believeable... better expression on the worm's face when han steps on his tail.
other subtle changes dont hurt it, or help it much...

Star wars is such an iconic series of film that everyone is biteing it all the time in their pathetic attempt in trying to grab the mystery of the force. No one can touch the force. :fist: Gonna go out and get a copy myself. Okay where are the pennies, under the cushions in the sofa, got a few bucks from there.

yeah, i'm wantin to snatch it up too. hopefully Best Buy has it for cheaper than Suncoast. Isn't it supposed to have a feature on the final battle between Obi-Wan and Anikan on the bonus disc?

side note: Episode 3 had better make up for the disappointments of 1 and 2 :fist:

I had the VHS box but the quality was shit so it a pain to watch them.
I hope the DVD to fix that

great except for a few things! ive watched them all now all the way through; and the quality is definately worth it most differences arent really noticable, and dont hurt the films whatsoever.

ep V (my favorite movie of all time)

George fucked with the greatest moment in movie history... the re-shot scene with palpatine and vader ... totally fucks it over... totally. im pissed off about this :(

luke no longer screams like he did in the special edition while falling.

ep VI
they left the dumb cg music sequence

left han solo saying 'its alright, i can see a lot better now' instead of the original 'its alright, trust me' which is much more like han would have said.

hayden's ghost now appears at the end instead of an old anikan... not so good.

everything else is practially perfect

Does that mean Jabba has to "remaster" his old caps of 5th Gear and Top Gear to change the intro?

I was about to get the SW trilogy DVD but with all the stupid changes, I better think twice. Luckily I got the "original" VHS release but it's in such bad shape it's barely watchable with all the noise :(

I refuse to watch those doctored pieces of mess. I am one of the biggest geeks on this forum and it pisses me off that Lucas has changed/mutilated so many scenes from the true originals. Any real hardcore fan will agree. I'll stick to my VHS copies, which is the only way to see the true originals.

^^^ very ture, i hate the way the changed the movie to make it "less violent" and the some of the voices have changed too, rather poor sounding when the yell and so on.

i agree **almost entirely, except for his 'discontinuity' of episode V... that really pissed me off, a lot.
i feel like saying
George Lucas, thanks for brilliant films, and :fist: to yer goofy 'oh vader didnt know he was a father'
not only did that ruin the epic proportions of Luke finding out Vader was his father, but dis-respecting the way in which that was held to the utmost of secrets even among the actors. :fist: 0X
