The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team and Jarno Trulli today announced that the Italian driver has been released from his obligations to the team with immediate effect. Trulli's early departure follows a mutual agreement that this course of action is in the best interests of both parties.
"Once again, we would like to thank Jarno for his contribution to the team over the past three years," stated Managing Director Flavio Briatore. "The team and Jarno feel that an early separation will allow both parties to conclude the year in the most positive way."
Jarno Trulli commented: "I am very comfortable with this decision. I would like to thank Renault for their support since 2002, and for the success we enjoyed together. I am grateful to the team for releasing me from my obligations, which will give me the opportunity to start with my new team sooner than expected."
The team will announce its driver line-up for the Chinese Grand Prix in due course.
Probably Villeneuve will race for Renault the last few races. And there is a chance Trulli will already race for Toyota this season, replacing Zonta.

That's F1 for ya... Not even a win this season ensures a seat till the end of it.
Oh well, if the driver himself also likes to leave sooner rather than later, it's much easier to come an understanding.
I'm curious who will take his place and whether Trulli will drive for Toyota already this season.

Good for Jarno, I would like to see him driving in a Toyota, you all seen what he reached at Renault, not very far, but fare enought he has had his ups and downs at Renault, he won for instance the GrandPrix of Monaco, I also think that Jarno has given Renault that little extra what they did not get from Alonso.
He is a good man that Jarno, and I would like to see him in an Toyota together with perhaps Ralf Schumacher, I kinda like that idea because if that would happen I think that Toyota's status in formula 1 could get very high, I am talking BAR/Renault level :)

I liked Jarno as well, not as much as Alonso, but he is a capable driver. Toyota's line up is looking very good and they should be competitive (Renault/BAR level) next season.

i think tulli's comments on the team giving him a shitty car is very unfair to the team. the team is in a tight battle with BAR for 2nd spot in the constructors championship. i don't think renault will sacrifice this and sabotage his car just because he announced he will be leaving the team. trulli deserved to get the boot.

Funny how everybody is hoping on next year....2002 - maybe next season F1 will be competitive 2003 - maybe next year Kimi will beat Shumi 2004 - maybe McLaren will beat Ferrari.........but in the end Shumacher wins, Ferrari wins......and everybody else is second best......don't get your hopes up for next season, could be a disappointment as usual

The season isn't even over and we've already started the off-season rumors and speculation.

Does this mean we have to deal with Jacques Villeneuve again...I thought we were rid of him. Anyone who is making ~$20 mil a year and won't take a pay cut so the team has more money to work with doesn't deserve to return to F1.

Of course its finished. Ferrari won. Second place means your the first looser so who cares? To me the season is over.

I disagree, if its over, whats the point of racing the remainder rounds?? or even wats the point of watching the remaining races?? Noone wants to come last soo they will always be battles, the season is over when the last race of the season is over.
