Thanks for the link mate, gets my vote for the best production car sound for sure!
BMW have done a great job, a true rival for AMG and the RS series car from Audi.
A titanium fist in a velvet glove. :D

We'll have to wait until 5th gear of topgear tests the e60 m5, then it will be a decent video with clear exhaust sounds!

CSL?!?!?! Holy crap! That's gonna be bonkers...it's already 507bhp...and lightweight materials have been used all over the place...I can't see a carbon roof or bodywork for the M5, but what else can they do to it?

Hearing that CSL line makes me wish i wasn't living in the US. Everyone else gets all the cool cars :( :x

I have to disagree with the line about the braking problems though. The brakes on the M3 are awesome. I dunno, maybe the M5's had a different problem.

The standard M5 is 1900kg's.... what do you think the CSL is going to be?

1800 ? 1750?

Standard is ~1830kg according to what I've read (I could be wrong)...and the M3 CSL dropped 185kg...so we can hopefully expect at least 100kg, maybe 150kg if they get really serious. There's definitely more things they can remove/lighten on the M5 as compared to the M3, but I doubt they will go as extreme as the M3 CSL is.

My wild guess...1700kg and horsepower up to 525hp, with little or no increase in torque.

I think making a CSL M5 would make no sense at all...

The M5 is supposed to be something of a Jekyll and Hyde car - something that can be used everyday in a very timid and pampering fashion, but can has the talent to destroy sportscar when it so pleases.

Removing the luxury and the comfort from a big, luxury-based, 4-door salooon makes no sense at all. What's the purpose of having the back seat then? To make passengers uncomfortable? Might as well just stick the M5's V10 into an M3 CSL or an M6 CSL... at least it would make more sense.
