The GTI of this Golf V looks fairly decent but there's way too much black mesh in the front. looks cheap IMO.

i just think he accidentally put his nickname as a topic.. fun though...
That looks even more girly, than the current golf. I wonder what color flower vase you can get with this one?

brembo: the beetle is a golf ;)
T-bird: do u mean are the mk IV still selling as new from dealers? In which case no, same with mk V (i think). However we do see all golfs from mk I up to the new one all the time ;)

yes I meant as new vehicles from the dealer, we have yet to get the new MK V Golf's with the ugly new body style we have the MK IV models still as new I thiunk it's because we just got the R32 golf so they are postponing it's release here.

bmwpower BTW, please do not post big pics with the IMG tags.. either just an url either thumbnails, thanks

the flower vase was for the beetle not the golf......
I have no clue on why the name of the topic is the authors name, I guess he wants a golf gti more than a M bimmer.......
Its become more girly than the Beetle, hence the reason for the flowervase. Im suprised it doest come with a Purse, and some shoes.

especially with the black rocker panels to match, I think they're heading in the right direction but it'd look better with a more RS4 style front air damn with gaping holes rather then plastic crap.

this ones supposed to be going back to the golfs roots though - a more sporty fun hatchback with suposedly more power n less weight and reviews say its quite a good drive, better than the overweight last one but could've been better. I'd take the R32 of a Mk1 GTI ;)

I did not yet had the chance of driving a Golf V GTI (it isn’t at the dealers yet), but I think a Golf I GTI would be more fun to drive. The mk5 may be more sophisticated due to it’s advanced technology, but it weights a lot more than a mk1, so a mk1 would be nimbler to drive. I don't know exact how much a mk5 GTI weights more than a mk1 GTI, but it's possible a mk5 weights almost double. Maybe the probably upcoming mk5 R32 and mk5 R36 will weight more than double the weight of an mkI GTI.

It show's how heavily the Golf Gti brand relies on the image of the MkI and II, that the have to show the I to advertise the IV.
Looks like an MPV, probably handles like an MPV, bhp per ton is stupidly low, fails to compete in terms of power to main rivals, and fails to get the comprimise right between driver comfort and driver exhillaration.
Other than that, good luck to it!

They're advertising the V, not the IV ;)
But it's kind of true. VW uses the GTI badge, linked with the image of the mk1 and 2 GTI, to promote their 'top of the range' FWD Golfs. But those cars aren't exactly a true GTI anymore. Partly due to excessive weight to comply with modern safety standards and all the electrical modern equipement.

I like the looks of the Golf series V...for me alongside the current focus its the most beautiful car in the class...see what happens how the car goes.....for instance...since the launch of the MkI the golf, generation a generation, has gone backwards with its model ....for instance the MkI was a pure sportive car...the MkII wasnt too bad...whereas the MkIII, or the MkIV has nothing to resemble with the MkI....see what happens......BTW...im sure that VW will launch a sportier version than this GTI once the Golf since the second generation has always had a more powerful version than the GTI itself such as the MkII GTI16v, the MkII GTI G60, the MkII Rallye, the MkIII VR6, the MkIV R32.......

My sources say (don't know if I have to trust them) there will be a Golf V R32 and R36. So don't worry, they will come up with something faster than their current mk5 GTI ;)

I like the new Golf5 GTi. It is much better than the previous model wich, from GTi, only had the name. It was a really bad car.
This new model would be better than the actual Leon CupraR, Megane RS, etc. But the price won't be so good....

I don't like it very much! But I hope the performance will compare to the Civic R and the competitors :)
