Jeremy Clarkson - Hot Metal
Jeremy Clarkson poses the question: where is modern motoring now on ultimate speed, grip, handling, reliability, styling and noise output?
Clarkson sets the scene by taking you on a brief history of the advances of automotive travel during the last century. In the past we have achieved superior speed, power and height in outer space, the air, on rails and over water. "Everywhere you look machines are slowing down. But what about cars?"
He begins to demonstrate his answer with a drag race between a Brabus Mercedes and a PTC by Austin 1100 and on to other amazing cars at speed, such as the Italian supercar Pagani Zonda and the expensive but commercially unsuccessful Jaguar XJ220. There is the thrill of comparing the performances of the McClaren Mercedes SLR, Porsche Carrera GT, Lotus Exige and its sister the Elise, the BMW CSL and the Alfa Romeo GTV6 of yester year with the Mercedes SL55 very much of today.
After delivering us the cars from the past, present and future and putting them through their paces only one question remains: is motoring as much fun as it used to be?
Looks like it'll be another exciting video from JC  The CGT part should be pretty interesting.

I am waiting for it !!! :D I also hope that the best parts of Top Gear will be on DVD. But i didn't see the Enzo mentioned :? It seems he has difficulties to put his hands on one :|
Well, if only he would accept an Enzo, driven by its owner, I'm sure he could find somebody.. but I doubt a normal person would give the keys of his jewel to Jeremy :D

RIGHTEOUS!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D not sure i deserve it juts yet though since i haven't been active at all lately. but you know what's even more gay than that. i downloaded shootout last year and i didn't even get a chance to actually sit down and watch it  and i had trouble burning it onto disc before i left home so i think i'm fucked. i promise not to make the same mistake with hot metal.

Sorry to wake up an "old" thread but there are more informations about this video :

Burning rubber in 2004's ultimate cars.
"Everywhere you look, we’re slowing down. With concorde in a museum, air travel is slower. And even the fighter jets of today would be smashed by the interceptors from the sixties.
But what about cars? I decided to find out whether today’s cream can blast the monsters from the power crazed eighties. Are the new breed quicker in a straight line. Do they corner faster. Which are better looking and which can make the best noises.
That means the 200 mile per hour Jaguar XJ220 taking on a Pagani Zonda. It means pitting a Mclaren Mercedes SLR against a Porsche Carrerra GT - the first time ever these cares have been brought together. And it means lining up the new Fort GT with the car that spawned it - the old GT40. It means epic head to head drag races.
Naturally, the new Aston Martin DB9 is here too, taking on the old warhorses, the V8 Vantages. And the Evo 8? How much faster is it than the Evo 1. The answer might surprise you.
Oh and of course, I just had to riddle a Nissan with machine gun fire as I take up the new and dangerous sport of 'Clay Car shooting'. Why? Why not!"
This promise to be a great moment !!!! :D

I almost forgot about this DVD
BTW _ for good deals on the older JC dvd's go to www.dukevideo.com Most of them are £6 ... a nice way to get an authentic copy, rather than a DLd version. Think.... if less people buy his DVDs... the less money he makes, the less money he gets to invest in his next DVD :| Maybe i will dload it first, then i will get it for Xmas too
