Maybe you'd like to tell us where you live. Just go to the Red Light District with lots of cash in your pocket. The rest of Amsterdam isn't even worth seing.

^^^Hey now, you cheeky bastard...
I'll see what I can find for you, Adam. I'll ask some people that know Amsterdam better than me. I don't go to Amsterdam very often, so I can't really tell you which clubs are good and what is a happening place at new year's eve. But I do know that there's so much more to Amsterdam than just the red light district (de wallen) and marihuana.
Could you tell me what kind of party you are looking for? A club with trance/techno/club music, a nice bar or the kind of party clubs where the music they play is intended to be fun when you're completely hammered?

are you looking more for a hostel or a hotel??
If its a hostel then i styaed in the bulldog which is right on the edge of the light district, so pretty much bang in the centre with easy access to almost anywhere and about a 10/15 minute walk from the station. If you're into smoking too then its got its own coffee shop next door, but is a bit pricey compared to some. As for clubs, i'm not really too sure, me and my mates only really went to pubs and coffee shops most of the time but where we stayed, you pretty much had everything you needed around you within a 15 minute walk but its still nice to go out a bit further than that.
If your looking for hotels i cant really help you but i think you've got the right idea in booking early as it'll be packed at new years
good luck ;)
