So I take it that most new cars will have big air intake fronts like the new Audis and the Mitsu Evo 10. The bigger air intakes make the cars look very aggressive and I like the sharp edges of the side vents on this new Elise.

nice article vexor
thanks
Hmm.. Elise, or A sub-Esprit replacement :?
The same pic was in this month's evo magazine, with a story of a new model, larger than an Elise, but a category below the Esprit.
I do not believe that it is the 2007 Elise, but it is a different car... that's just my view

thanks what a nice article vexor although i got a bit dissapointed with the looks of the elise....IMO also i dont think necessary the increase of the size and the room of it...and im concerned that the car will weight about 80kgs more......see what happens later....

I think the Esprit has one of the best profiles of any exotic. I hope they don't replace it with that abomination.
looks like shit compared to current model

The picture isn't really very clear IMO and it reminds me a bit of an S2000.
But I suppose we can thrust on Lotus to do a good job with it's most popular model!!

All british magazines i've read who've spied it around the lotus HQ have said its more likely to be the new esprit

wheather it is photshopped or not, i think it's fugly. Blame crash regulations. As more and more cars are getting 5* in the NCAP crash saftey tests, they are having to focus their attention on pedestrian safety - that means very high bonnet-lines so that the engine is as far away from any pedestrian's head as possible. In my opinon, it makes most cars look shit and will sound the death bell for the classic supercar profile of 'low bonnet' - 'high arse.' Blame who you like infact, it's still going to happen.

Nothing wrong with lotus they are what they are. It's a turdfull shop but. The current elise is so sexual IMHO.

yeah...that worries me a lot...I'm still hoping that manufacturers will handle it somehow without changing the shape dramatically - there are certain ways like bonnet-airbags etc.
So there is an ounce of hope that many cars won't be that much influenced but it's definitely the end of cars like Range Rover - the shape of which is also unpermissible

Read the article its based of an extended version of the Elise chassis it isnt the next Elise. Its supposed to fit inbetween the Elise and the Esprit when it gets revived, i think it looks damn nice. Possibly another car that they wont have to remodel for 30 years.

I don't think that's the new Elise, just a different Lotus concept.
As for the looks I like it, but I'm not to keen on the idea of increasing the cars size in all 3 dimensions. However, making it wider body could improve the already fantastic handling.

Yeah they have been talking about releasing a a car between elise and esprit, in size, for a while now. Pretty sure thats what that is. It may however be a replacment in the US for the Elise.

I think they might even be thinking of a 2+2.
Anyway, for new American rules and regs, i think they're trying to redesign the elise so it meets the new standards for 2006 or 07. make it "safer" apparently.

i think that car (the 2+2) is a good idea and looks very good, although the rear looks pretty boring and it doesn't look to be providing alot of downforce
(check out these pics http://www.autocar.co.uk/News_Article.asp?NA_ID=210906&EL_ID=3092996&ST=fromcurrentresults and click on "gallery")
Aslo i think the m250 looked better...
I can't wait for the new Lotus models (2+2, esprit replacement, new elise)

The M250 was a very good looking car, I must admit. Too bad it never went into production.

I'm liking the design of the upcoming 2+2, think it looks pretty mean. Good to see it took some cues from the M250. That car was damn awesome, Lotus should have produced it. As for the new "spied" Elise, I don't mind the looks, but I think the current one looks better.
