I have a subcompact laptop, ie no floppy, not cd drive. I wanted format and do a clean install of windows. i tried doing it in the existing version of windows, but i wouldnt let me format cuz it stored some of the setup files on the HD.
I just so happen to have a laptop HD to desktop HD converter so i decided to format and install win xp then stick it back into the laptop and install windows again to try and eliminate any conflicts.
Problem is i cant even boot into windows, not even in safe mode. :(

the equip i have available are a USB CD drive non-bootable (can also be used for HD), a desktop, laptop to desktop HD converter

any soloutions would be much appreciated

P.S. yes, i know i'm a big dumbass............

so wait. you installed the windows on the drive while it was connected to the desktop? there could be hardware conflicts since you installed it on the desktop. if I read it right.

usb doesnt yet have any wake on lan settings ive heard of, so i suggest you find out from the mfr. website if you have a lan card capable of wake-on-lan installing.
strange situation having no optical drive
