JW "shit happens" topic (maybe a sticky??)

I think it would be cool for us to have a sticky where we can all share our misfortune and confess to different things to make it easier for us to deal with them.

Here goes mine: I just got back from the movies. I drove there with a few friends. We were watching Alien Vs. Predator when the fire alarm started ringing. We had to exit the building and were promised a refund next time we go there. We start walking back to the car only for me to notice something weird....my rear license plate was missing. It was obviously stolen because I had recently screwed in with four screws, and we're all 100% sure the plate was on the car when we left for the movie. This is the second time in this country that my license plate is stolen. The other time was last year, in an underground parking lot. Now I have to go through all the hassle and expense of getting new license plates (I wanted to get ones that say "BADMIHAI" but now I'm scared to do so) and pay for that road sticker. Does anyone in Canada know where to call and report the numbers stolen? Last time a security guard called for me.

relating to your shitty happenings... ive never heard a single story of such an event in michigan.. and you say its the second time? mabey you need to move across the boarder to get the 'badmihai' nameplate...

also... if you really want the costom plate, i think there are less chances of it getting stolen, as vanity plates are quite easily spotted compared with mundane alpha numeric plates... hence why jabbas plate totally kicks ass, as its costom, but seems to fit in quite nicely in a crowed of other lambo diablo roadsters :P :wink:

Bad, I'd give the poilice a call. They will take a report and probably put it on their system. That way you don't get tickets sent to you in the mail or something.

As for shit happening, I dropped a 30lb rock on my finger digging through a pallet today at work. It hurts, but still works.

Today, parts of the mountain collapsed over the construction site of a mall in my town.. Luckily, it happened in the early morning, so noone was harmed, and only fragments of two houses were hurt...

ok ill start with my mis fortune that really upset me to a point where i was so sad i cried :(

ok when i bought my car in decmeber 2003 i took it out for a nice drive... it was summer weather was nice.. girls in bikinis. drove around useed the best fuel and stuff and washing material and soups and all.. but .. 2 days after purchasing my pride and joy.... i thought ill go for another cruise and about 10 minutes in to driving my car the engine strated making wierd noises.. so i stoped .. poped the hood nothing there checked oil water perfect.. :S ... so i started it again and sounded good.. till i took off .... after 3000rpms and changing into 2nd gear .. the engine blew up ..

next day the car was taken to a mechanic which inspected the engine .. to his amazement. the cams had gone from a lobe shape to a perfect circle. the head wasnt getting any oil due to a cloged oil feeder.. and the 4th piston siezed and cracked in to 2 :( .. it seems the previous owner THRASHED the car like ther was no tommorrow..

anyways i gave the mechanic the money to rebuild the engine which took him 7 months. after various threats and kicked panals on his new porsche he fixed the car but duet o sitting a stuffed mech yard for 7 months the paint faded lost its detail... and was a shit blue as it is now ...

anyways engine is all good and fine .. so i decided to go and get the car registered and on my way to the registration office a old 65 year old woman that can hardly see drive out in front of me and not stoppiong at a give way sign hit the front left of my car .... smashed gaurd head light and indicators. now like that isnt worse.. the insurance company is trying to blame me sayingi could of stoped with in 10 meters of her car at the speed i was travelling...now the cops took a look at the details and confirmed taht its not possible to stop in 10 meters when travelling at 65kmph.

But the insurance company is still saying its my fault.. then they asked me for a witness and that was the only i was going to get out of it .. .now i was sooo angry that day and furious i couldnt control my self.. but luckly the next day a police office called me and said that there was a witness to the accident and told me that what i had told the insurance company was true.. so now i have to take my car in with the damaged parts and get a qoute so they can say this is how much it will cost to repair..

anyways once that is done the car will be getting a new fresh paint job of the monaro Yellow and a vertex bodykit with the widened gaurds.. ill post some pictures of the car and its damage so u guys can see....

anyway thats my rant :)

I woke up a little earlier and discovered my computer had switched itself off.. not so bad I though but odd as I left it ripping a dvd :|.. the thing is no matter what i do the damn thing is totally dead, seems the motherboard has decided to take a crap on me :-(.. the damn thing is like 6 days old and already died.. good one gigabyte

so instead of posting form my nice fast a64/skt939 system I'm stuck here on this shitty old pentium/linux box :|

lucky for me (lucky as it was about to be sent back) I have a msi mobo that i was testing for that system too so I guess I will install that in a minute to check all the other hardware is ok

haha no, and luckily most of my important files are on a 160gb storage drive, the only bummer is the dvd I ripped plus a few other things I want are on my sata raid array and I can't get them back until I get a replacement for the dead board, as those have to be plugged into the same type of raid controller or windows will not recognize it :|

Heres my shitty story of the year... 4 months after buying my first car... I crashed it. Now, I always knew that I would crash my car before I turned 20... especially a RWD car, with some power and no computers or anything to control it... What pissed me off, was that I was going about 20kph, down a nice, clear road, perfect weather, on a nice crisp nite. Unfortunately, the traffic lights were out, and there were no lights on the road, and for some reason, i hadnt turned my headlights on yet... Then BLAM, right into a mercedes benz 300CE 124 Type... Of course, the benz is fixed and looks better than new right now, but my car is all in shambles and sits in my garage in pieces. As far a Murphy's law goes, I just know that as soon as its on the road, im gunna hit something else... but this time I'll have my $1500 fibreglass bumpers on it, and about $1000 worth of new headlights, tail-lights, and other fibreglass parts. The only question in my mine is "WHEN".

Ok my story runs over the better part of a year,
my car was repossessed due to a girl, two owners before me not paying her loan out on the car in the first place, after owning it for around six months i got pulled up by the sheriff and the car was taken there and then. I was left with no car and a court battle that lasted a year. That was in May
then in July my cousin died from heart attack SHE was 42
In August my grandmother died after a 4 month battle with cancer
September my next door neighbour and good friend committed suicide and left a wife and four kids aged between 17 and 7.
