I just picked up my first Ferrari F1 car.

It's the F2003-GA Ferrari Lauch Car with driver Michael Schumacher. I found it at my local Auto Zone parts store for $29.95.

i saw the 50th anniversary vette yesterday in my model shop £47 it was,so quite expensive compared to other 1:18 by auto art

Eric

It's made by Hotwheels.

i am assuming since you only paid 29.95 for the F2003 it is the 1:24 scale that came with the dvd? i ask because the auto zone i got my FW25 from wanted 39.95 for the 1:18, which i think is horseshit since the williams, mclaren and renault were 29.95 for the 1:18's.
now i gotta spend an extra 10 bucks to start the grid set-up :?

may we see the engine of the C6 ;) LOL. since it's from hotwheels, i'm assuming the engine isn't that great.

Can you also let us know who does the 997? Does seem Autoart quality but I could be wrong...

Eric
09-19-2004, 08:13 AM
Although the quality is pretty good, it's no Autoart. All 3 models shown are made by Maisto.

Here are a few more pics of the 997's.

This one is the base model 997 Carrera.

OUCH!!!

It's a nice model but it really isn't any better than any of there other Murcielagos. Even though it does come in very nice packaging with a display case and key chain.

I really wish they could of made it part of their Millenium edition line and improved the quality of it. Perhaps they could of improved on the door mechanizm and installed side windows in it. Also it would of been nice if they had plumbed the engine.

I am rather pleased with this model for what it is, a budget model. I only paid $12.50 for it. Plus, Motormax is the only game in town if your looking for a 1/18 Zonda. :)

nice, I have the 1/24 version. I have seen a few of these 1/18 Zonda's on ebay for about $16 USD - but with postage costs it gets a little expensive to get it to Aust. :(

SilviaEvo
01-04-2005, 11:21 PM
on a scale of 1-10 what would you rate the Motormax Zonda? i am thinking of buying one if i can find one that is

dingo
01-05-2005, 02:42 AM
^ well since your in the US there are about 5 on ebay currently, and shipping costs won't be that much for you (unlike me :( )

Eric
01-05-2005, 09:04 AM
On a scale of 1 to 10 I'll give the Zonda a 6. Using this scale, I'd have to say that most Maisto and Hotwheels would fall between 4 and 7.

I would have to say that the quality of the 1/18 Motormax Zonda is as good as any Maisto or Hotwheel model. The paint work is decent, much better than I expected it would be. The doors don't even use the typical 'dog leg' hinges, which is a plus.

Motormax did a really good job with the overall look and shape of this car. This model has plenty of presence in my collection. It is well build and has a solid feel to it. The ground clearance is just right; it doesn't sit to high.

The detail on this model also isn't bad. All 4 color of the Motormax Zonda have the same color interior, blue/white and black simulated carbon fibre. Fortunately this color combination works best on the blue Zonda. On the other color Zonda's it just doesn't look good at all and probally should be repainted. The engine also look decent and since the real Zonda doesn't have much visible in the engine bay, like belts and wires, Motormax was able to a good job replicating it.

The worst part of the model has to be the rims, they are just OK. I think that they are slightly undersized and a little to shiney. I think that if Maisto or Hotwheels had done this model they would have done a much better job in this area.

If your going to be buying this model don't expect Autoart quality. If your happy owning Hotwheels and Maistos, you'll be happy with the Motormax Zonda.

All in all, I am pleased with Motormax's efforts on the Zonda.

btw. If you want the Zonda in 1/18 Motormax is the only option.

I just recieved my Elite Ferrari F40 and I'm very pleased with it. While it's still not quite as good as a Kyosho, it is much better than anything HW has done in the past.

The Ferrari F40 has always been one of my favorite supercars of all times and I've been longing for a decent model of it, in 1/18 scale, for a long time. I've had both Burago and Hotwheels versions of it but I never really like them, too toylike.

Now, that Mattel is introducing this new Elite line with a much better quality F40. This one has definately filled that void in my collection.

Over all, this is a very good model. But it lacks in some of the finer details that a Kyosho Ferrari might have. Like popup headlights, engine detail, and better windshield and side windows.

Mattel is definately moving in the right direction with their Elite series but $70+ might be a little to pricey for it. $50 would be much more reasonable.

Look around, there are deals out there. I got mine for $38 on Ebay, add in the shipping and I paid a total around $50 for it.

As you maybe know McLaren F1 and F40 are my dream cars so also F40 is must have for me, I have it from Kyosho in 1/12 and 1/18 from Bburago. Yes, Elite is better than normal HW version but still I don´t like some details on it. For example steering wheel is too low...I just hope that one day it would be in 1/18 from Kyosho, Exoto or other manufacturer  At the moment I am happy with Bburago and Kyosho version 8) BUT it is also possible that one day I buy this Elite too

I just bought a few for my wife, she likes the matchbox size cars. I even bought her a display cabinet for them.

The quality is amazing for this size model, much better than the 99 cent hotwheels I've bought for her.
