Here it fluctuates between 0.65 and 0.85 CAD per litre. 0.65 CAD = 0.50 U.S.

its almost 2 $US here but when gas season comes it will lower to .85 and stuff around that. mrmojo don't you live around a region that is high in gas prices all the time since public transportation is highly used and so is your own transportation (legs) and most cars are high on mpg or am I just wrong?

A liter of 96 octane runs PHP27.17 or about US$0.49. I went on a fuel run 14 hrs ago before the local station jacked up prices at midnight.

We are paying around $1/L, which is roughly 0.7 USD....the price has nearly doubled since I started driving.

THe price of 95 octane fuel is coming up to the 4 PLN mark, which is a bit less then a Euro.
about $1.90/gallon - goes up - goes down.
Why not send troops to Iraq - I here they have cheap oil for the taking.

I would be smiling also, if I could fill my tank with 20 euros, when it usually takes 50 euros. Would American people pay 4.5 per a gallon?
Why would we need to?

why not open the oil fields in alaska......
then the prices would drop.
it's funny they justified the war in iraq to raise the price of oil, and now it's over the price is still high...?
Why would we need to?
I'm not saying you need to pay, but would you pay, if that would be the price? Or would there be whole lotta riots in the streets?
Gasoline prices are not fixed by the government in the USA - they are determined by local gas stations based on their cost.

I was being sarcastic. The USA did not go to war to aquire oil from Iraq.
The USA imports 60% of its oil usage.
11% of this comes from the Middle East - the rest comes from Venezuela, Mexico and Canada (and a few other small suppliers)
These are the facts.
China and Iindia are using up more oil from the Middle East - blame them and OPEC for your oil price woes.. :P ;)
UK - £80p per litre  ~> $1.2
It's gonna hit £1 a litre soon i guess

LOL if it gets any higher we'll all have to drive little mini's like mine or boring boxes that do 50mpg! (i once did 48 mpg travelling from home to uni!) Prices are getting stupid now i paid 81.9 last time i filled up. But it will have to get alot higher for me to stop driving!!! :D

Americas gas is mostly cheap because we have the biggest community of vehicles in the world. Plus when we go some where its not to go like 5 blocks down the road we have to go about 1-50 miles depending on how far you live from work and same for getting to malls or downtown. I live in a suburb of my city so If I were to get a job downtown I would probably have to drive 50 miles or more.
About the oil prices in the U.S. the gas companies under geussed the amount of gas consumed for this year and must charge more since they are getting very low but when gas season comes were getting a brand new shipment of gas and prices will be lowered alot.

Fuel costs me about the same as RC, around $1.85 a gallon, but we live very near eachother relatively speaking so I'd not expect any different. If I didn't need to use 93 octane, it would be $1.60 a gallon for 87 octane.
I think (and no doubt it will be pointed out if I am wrong) that out of every gallon of fuel sold in Texas at $1.85/gallon, about 25-30cents is of that is tax.
Also, there are 3.78litres to 1 US gallon, and 4.54litres to 1 UK gallon
So it's about 29p a litre here, at the current exhange rate...

Sounds almost insulting to your kins-men when you put it that way.. ;) LOL :D

The price of the petrol in Spain continues the same policy as in the whole european union in terms of tax...as a result the price of the 95 and 98 octane petrol, or the diesel costs a similar price to the average in the European Union. For instance the price of the 98 octanes petrol here in Spain costs 99,7cents of € per liter on average(depending on the wealth of the region, the petrol and the diesel costs more or less amount of money), the 95 octanes petrol costs about 92cents on average, whereas the diesel costs 80cents.

Mr. Pham - this is the price for regular isnt it - I thought it was in the $2.5 range for 91 octane

I think diesel costs more than petrol in Switzerland, as it's seen as dirty fuel, but then I am not sure if they are part of the EU? TT will know though!

98 Octane
Has anyone done back to back testing between 98 and 93 octane. Any more power?
I could sense a mild change when I went from 91 octane in California to 93 in Texas. Car is happier with 93. I wish we could get 98 here :(

I just payed 2.30 for 98 yesterday, some stations around here have 98 and some 93 I don't notice a huge change in performance numbers but it does make the engine run better.

I'm not sure of it but I thought less octane number is more the amount of lead is and thats generally better for engine.

In Hamilton our 94 octane is roughly 95 cents per litre, pretty expensive.
When I would race my Nissan at the track I always had 94 in it.
I wouldn't say it ran faster, but it did run much smoother.

Here's my piece, use ONLY the octane rating given in you're car's manual. Using a higher or lower octane can cause damage to your engine.
Yeah its about $1.90 per gallon around here, as RC pointed out. Goddamn stupid americans stuck in the standard system while everyone uses metric. I've no idea how much a litre is compared to a gallon, of course i'm also an ignorant bastard.

how is a Gallon different sizes in different countries? that makes absolutely no sense at all.
And they don't make Leaded Gasoline anymore atleast in most parts of the world when I was in Europe the pumps said Unleaded where I went. For older cars you needed leaded fuel for certain parts of the engine and they respond very badly to unleaded so you have to buy lead additive to make them run right. Luckily new parts for these old engines are made for Unleaded fuel.

And unfortunately - The USA are the ones that got it wrong this time.. ;)

You can buy LRP (Lead Replacement Petrol) in the UK which is unleaded with a lead substitute. It's for older european cars that need leaded fuel, however when I say older, there were some engines still in production in the early nineties that needed leaded fuel.

wow ...and i thought WE have high gas prices... it's 0.24$ a litre here...
but then again..we're one of the biggest oil exporters in the world .. they should give gas for free here right?
