I love turbocharged cars, they have something special.
My first car was a turbocharged one and it had some lag until the turbo started to work, but i loved the rush of acceleration when it punched. :)

N/A for me, either V8 or V12 would be nice. If it was a 6cyl then maybe I could use a turbo or s'charger.

7,000rpm N/A push rod 383ci stroked LS6 V8 :) -- easily delivers 540hp at the crank... :)

All apart for the "rally slag" turbo 4s on the WRC, I would always say naturally aspirated

I'd go for NA, and have ever since I first drove a Honda VTEC...

Around 5 liters capacity and V10 N/A engine, 4 vale p/cylinder and high revving :D something like the one on the E60 M5 or the Carrera GT.

WIth the turbo. The engine lasts longer, if it's not reved to red line or limiter to get the max power out.

I disagree - with the turbo there are more mechanical parts that are added which increase the possibility of failure. A normally aspirated engine should be more reliable than a turbo version.

Personally I would like a powerful NA engine like the 550M.

Turbos are fun what with the kick they give you when they come on song. I love the power surge in my lil car.... :)

well like I've said in the numerous other versions of this same topic I would go for a N/A American V8 nothing better although I wouldn't turn down a SC or TT V8 ala Cobra or LPE427TT

Although with a built N/A V8 or V10 you can have your cake and eat it.. :P

Many folks I know, have N/A cars putting 480 to 530 horsepower to the rear wheels.. with 150hp wet shot of nitrous on hand to give you the "650rwhp+ (750crank hp) kick in the pants" when you feel like beating the guy next to you by 14 bus lengths instead of just by 6 car lengths,... ;)

Then when you feel like going road racing/circuit driving - the N/A V8/V10 has enough power to be extremely usable with no nasty lag or other tendancies.. :)

i seem to llike midsize engines (audi 2.7 liter 6, supra 6, large four bangers) with well thought out turbos

i like the sounds, the rush of power

but then again the scream of a 300hp all motor 1.8 liter 9000rpm honda motor is awesome too

so i guess the logical answer to a question like this is depends on the person, the situation, and the car/motor/powertrain

LOL -- "all motor 1.8l" is an oxymorons.. :P ;) -- I got a bottle of Mountan Dew here that not only has a bigger capacity - but requires more torque to close the cap than Honda make.. :P

BTW - where can I find one of these "N/A 300bhp 1.8l" engines in streetable form? ;)

The choice for induction or N/A aspiration depends on the use.

The kick of turbo is addictive, but so is the scream of a high-revving N/A engine. Just to go an extra 1200 rpm than the turbo guy :P

It also depends with what kinda turbo car you're driving; if you have a bi-turbo with sequential turbo's (one smaller for low-rev and one bigger for high-rev) you'll have considerable less lag and much more high-end power. But if you have a N/A that can do 9000 rpm, that is also golden :P

They both have their charme, however from a technical point of view I find high-yielding N/A-engines more impressive.

first time for everything i guess ;) Agreeing with each other that is..... not on the particular vette engine tho :P

Since I have owned both types ('84 Mustang SVO- Turbo-intercooled 4 cyl.) I like the throttle response of both types of engines. Miss the siren song of the turbo and the whoosh of the opening wastegate. Back in the day, turbo lag was a norm but now they have been greatfully reduced due to newer technology and ball bearings installed. With proper maintainance, a turbo engine can last as long IMO as a naturally aspirated one.

N/A because you'll get the most control.. sure a turbo might be faster in the straights or up hills, but having a N/A engine will be quicker in the corners

Ive been always a turbo engine fan, once the sensations when the turbo start working are unique, the punch of it on straight line, or up hills also unique, and for me the best sounding engines are the turbo ones, although there are brilliant aspirated cars naturally, such as any BMW M3, any aspirated ferrari, any aspirated porsche.....
