One of my school visits (a long time ago) was actually to a huge sewage treatment plant for teh bristol area (a big city in the south west of england) and it was quite interesting ( for a heap of shit anyway!), and there's noting quite like smelling a thousand random peoples shits mmmmmm nice... :?
But yeah, the solids and liquids are separated, the shit is decomposed by bacteria that are helped by oxygenation in the aeration tanks. The liquid parts are purified with chemicals and usually passed into local water ways, but in london apparently in the centre the water you are drinking has on average passed through 3 people before it gets to you!! Bottled water anyone!? :shock:

One of the great things about living in Colorado is the snow falls in the mountains and then it melts and come straight to me. Im the first to use it. Then I pass it to Nebraska and then they pass it on. I fell sorry for the California people. They are the last on the list.
