I fired up my parents old scanner, real slow but most of them came out o.k. just annoying that i didn't transfer them all to upload them. I was really suprised at where they put the cooper racer aswell hidden away in a corner (see the background)

Really having a digicam would have been an advantage as so many cars to shoot and i forgot to bring another film

That min cooper cut in half is quite cool to see indeed.

I didn't know of the existance of an ERA mini. I suppose it has a turbocharged version of the 1.3 of the S

Indeed if my memory is correct it has a 1275cc motor with a Garrett (i think ) turbo though i may be wrong and i've lost my book with details on all the different models :( What i do remember is that there wern't many made and quite a few of them went to japan, oh and they wern't cheap!!

It's a mini with a 1275cc (A+ series) metro turbo engine in it. A heady 93hp!

Look up MG Metro Turbo on the web for full engine specs.

Didn't know there was a Turbo Mini... It was an official Mini or just a preparation???

It was marketed by Austin Rover but it was a modification carried out by a company called ERA.

I don't think they sold them for very long, though, it was like a limited production.

It's a fairly common modification in the UK to 'copy' that setup by putting a MG Metro engine or MG Metro turbo engine (like the ERA Turbo) in a mini, it drops straight in.

In 1995 I had a 1983 Mini with the MG Metro engine which was bored out to 1310cc, larger carburettor, an aftermarket 285 profile cam and upgraded exhaust and ignition coil, I reckon it put out maybe 80-85hp. It would go off the speedo (90mph) in third gear.

^^ Cheers, i actually had read that magazine b4, and forgotten!! But it is a twin engined one i am talking about, although that holeshot one seems equally ridiculous!!
The cadburys mini i have seen in real life a few times, at shows, and race meets etc. I know the bloke who's raced it in a championship in england (i forget the name of the championship) but his name is Neil Cunningham, well nice bloke. The builders of the cadburys mini wanted to put it in the british GT championship i think, but couldnt get an entry as it aint a GT car!

Thanks a million AL3 for the pics, once observing the pics of the mini bring me some good sensations(ive always adored the mini), the pics of the escort MkI of rallying, the ferrari dino, and the F40(its should be one of the F40s that run in the italian championship of GT in 1994), although i prefer the black mini turbo era rather than the bordeaux one,(by the way....this mini launch was an official launch from MG..in a similar way to the cooper...however, very few units were made, and right hand drive all of them..in two colours as far as i know, the black and the bordeaux one...the mini turbo era was a mini with the same engine as the metro turbo..a 1.3 turbo garret engine with around 93bhp, and some improvements on suspensions, brakes from the cooper)....and there is no pics of a hayabusa engined mini either(the 5th gear broadcasted a minis 45th year aniversary last spring, and this hayabusa mini was shown in the program)

Finally dani...watching the V6 mini must be amazing for the eyes......and although its not a mini...the white ford sierra cosworth in front of the mini V6 brings deserves to be commented for me as well, once i miss really the racing tuned ford sierra cosworth, the E30 M3....

Thanks for the pics.

I don't like the body kit on the turbo much, but I wouldn't mind the engine!
