I am buying some pc parts next week for building my new pc , cuz my fucking celeron 950 is so fucking slow , so here are the parts i want to buy , please tell me if i am going into the correct direction or post alternatives to it , same price or cheaper cuz this parts are on my price range , thx a lot !!!
-CPU : Considered a Barton 2500+ . but after some researching i found out that a Mobile Barton 2400+ OC @ 2500mhz will give me the same performance as the Barton 3400+ , considering it runs at lower voltage , ThermalTake cooler and paste also
-Video Card : I dont play games , just one a decent one that runs windows very well and let me play games once in a month , Geforce MX4000 64mb
-Ram : For the double rate system i choosed Kingston 256mb x2 PC3200 400mhz
-Hard Disk : 80gb Seagate or Western Digital SATA150 8mb Buffer 7200rpm
-DVD Burner : Nec 2510 Dual Layer DVD+-R +-RW
-Mainboard : Abit NF7 R2 Sata with chipset Nforce2 and integrated Nvidia soundstorm Audio
Please post what you think , thx a lot !
Well for a DVD Burner.. you have to get the new Pioneer with 16x recording (futureproofing)

Well, if you want calcualtaing power, then this setup is fine. AMD makes very good processors. And the mother board...I also have one with the Nvidia Nforce 2 chipset (MSI K7N2 - something) and it runs very fast and stable. Good choice with the HDD's too. It's imoportant to purchase one with an 8MB buffer as data is transfered much faster.

perhaps this seems like a stupid question, but can a DVD burner also burn CDs??

Im thinking on getting a computer myself. DVD-R very important. Seems you have covered everything pretty well.
Also.. if your budget stretches to it, get 1GB of ram, you will notice the difference
*Note to self... you must upgrade from your current 256MB*

Fleischmann : Calculating power ? I was told that with an AMD running at that speed my pc would be very very fast , and with a proper Video card i can run the most demanding games , am i right ?
Thamar : Yes youve heard about the 2400+ Mobile ? They are very good to overclock cuz they adjust the voltage to the task they are doing , so its very safe . I will see if i can get those coolings here .
I will get an nvidia , a 9200 will be enuf ? , For the HD i will get a 80 one , 40 dollars cheaper than the 120 one , and i have a 40 , so with 120 will be more than enuf , i can burn everything in dvd :P
thenumber1 : I will PM you with my paypal account to buy the 512 extra ram , thx a lot :P

Ermm.. 2x256MB sounds better after you have said that

Well generally the slower the graphic card, the more calculations have to be done by the procy'. But as far as I know, ya need a graphic card to use all them special effects such as Pixelshader, Vertex shader etc. I may be wrong, I'm not an expert ;(

Oh ok ... but its still a fast setup ... i want it more to be extremely fast at windows perfomance , browsing , msn , watching videos , encoding videos and that :D

hmm...nice set up. But a lot of ram wont do much. I have a 2400+ and a 2500+ isnt that much of a difference. 512MB Memory will be more than enough. Since you're not playing games that often and what not. Also...I just built my friends computer with a ATI 9200 128MB....pretty decent card and good for the money. I hate Nvidia. :D
As for the DVD R...no need to get a Pioneer like thenumber1 said. The nec will do just as good and it would be cheaper as well.
Western Digital should be your first choice for your harddrive. they are simply the best. :D Also..do you plan to run SATA or just normal IDE...hmm

I suggest you change your ram. Something with a higher frequency if you want to overclock it that high. You might not be able to get it that high though.
I would suggest a Pioneer DVD writer. It's slightly more expensive where I"m at and it's better.

Perhaps Ram depending what the baord can handle..im too lazy to find out. PC3200-4000 512 should be enough. Altough...if you would like to go 1 Gig...it does ge pricey.

Sata , faster rite ?
And for the 2500+ not being much faster than 2400+ , what i am going to do is running it at 2500mhz , that is equivalent to a 3400+ i think ( 3200+ runs @ 2400 ) , so it should be at least VERY faster , rite ?

Which memory exactly ? like 466 mhz ? The cpu runs at 266 so i think memories going at 400 would be good , plus the Mobo is very good for overclock

You'll get to 400 really easily with that processor. Your almost guaranteed to get that fsb with a lowered multi. A 3200+ runs at 2.2ghz not 2.4ghz.
Also, you'll need a pretty good hsf and good airflow in your case to reach those speeds. Like thamar said, get a thermalright hs. They cost quite a lot, but they're the best.

Euhm, that mobile will not adjust it's voltage in a desktop setup. That are the mainboards that switch the frequency of a cpu, not the cpu itself.
It works perfectly in a desktom sistem as ive heard , if you know a lot about computers , maybe yoiu can help me with he choose of it , ive heard that the 2400+ mobile can easily reach 2400mhzs

Forums around the net , mostly overclockers.cl , a chilean site , what do you thing , the mobile to run @ 3400+ or a common barton 25000+ ?

go with the Barton 2500+...is that the only processor that fits your budget? I suggest higher AMD processors if you can. :)

I can pay for a beter one , but the OC thing seemed so good , what do you recomend ?

Mobile cpu's can hit those speeds.
But it doesn't change voltage, since desktop mainboards don't support speedstep. Only mobile boards do.
U sure ? ive read around the net about Mobiles running into Desktops mainboards hitting 2.9 2.7 ghz

Hmm...do you really want to overclock? Since you're not a hardcore gamer...I dont see the point.
Keep in mind...you better invest in some major cooling fans if you plan to overclock. especially memory...its vital to the system.
ehhh...stay away from OCing...no need imo... :?

Well i just want my system to be extremely fast in windows , i play once in a month maybe , not more than that

LOL. Trust me...Windows will be extremely fast without the overclocking. I'm running a 2400+ chip with only 512MB of ram and a 200 gig 7200 rpm 8mb cache computer...its way fast. Take my advice for it...i bet others agree with me too.
those forums you've been reading about overclocking has corrupted you. :(

That is the point , i can get a 2500+ barton for 20 dollars less , but is the OC worth it ? I want my pc just for windows , i dont care about unreal or doom 3 , i played tiger woods 2004 and Vice city last year in my Shitty setup m so i dont think its worth it .

Well if you don't play games that often you could still get it, but not overclock it as high and keep the voltages stock so the cpu lives longer.

A while since I've been in this part of the forums...
Why the small disk?
When I bought a disk in May I found out that 200 GB gave the best space/money rate. That may have changed. Of course you save some money when buying a smaller disk, but not that much.
And disks have a tendency to get full. Specially if you're on ADSL or LAN.
