View Full Version : Cannonball 8000, more infos?
I just found out about Cannonball 8000 2005 rally (September 17, 18 and 19).
I just checked out cannonball8000.com in search of a map and nothing.. the cars will go from Londo to Paris to Monaco and they will touch Italy... and since they talk about FOUR countries.. the 4th MUST be Switzerland... but no map in there.. so even if usually nobody has answers to such questions LOL, I try anyway... somebody has more infos about the roads they will take?
of course I also emailed them :D

Excuse me, I have never heard about Cannonball8000 before. Can you explain me what is it about? Thanks.
There is a film called Cannonball in which at the beginning a Lambo Countach is chased by the police, isn't it? .
www.cannonball8000.com
it was "3000" last year but probably they were forced to change it, and capore, you never saw Cannonball and Cannonball II? Go buy the DVDs right now :D
It's a gumball3000 style formula, but lower budget basically, less known too, and no 8000 doesn't mean "miles" ;) from London-Paris-Monaco would require several back and forth to rack up 8000 miles :D

No, never :D . Only the beginning of the film. And it was because here in JW there was a post with it. I'll try to download those films from the internet.
I'd like cannonball didn't be precisely like Gumball3000. People who participate in this certamen are really dangerous.
Cannonball movies sucked.

Gumball Cannonball whats the difference?
Gumball, Cannonball, Players Run,... it's just different events, similar but distinct.
^^^
Gumaball is the original though
I thought cannonball run was the original...
Well I never looked deeply into it, but IMO, of course Cannonball is the name of the movie (1981) wich inspired the rallys we see today ... and the movie itself was inspired by a real rally existing back in those days, am I wrong? then no idea what happened in the late 80s, early 90s.. then the Gumball 3000 was born and this incarnation of the Cannonball rally is not the original thing but a spin off... LOL what a mess

yes they are just the same, with different names in tearms of content,
alot of speed, expensive cars, partys, hot chicks, and drugs.
it would well be worth it for the experance,
and im sure if it goes through switzerland, you will be there camera on hand!
Sadly no answer to my email... so i guess there will be no pic.. and BTW, as far as I see, the Paris-Monaco bit will be done in a sinle day, so they won't have time for many pauses along the way...

the 4th MUST be Switzerland...
No offence but I think they're making a big mistake with that... Switzerland is no doubt a very nice country to drive through. The sight of those mountains make it worthwile allready BUT the Swiss police is also very very strict. I think they're the strictest in whole Europe. So I think many Gumballers won't even make it through that country.
TT, that girl in your avantar is :  habba habbe :P gimme some
I would like to know where you've got that from :D Me wanna watch her move !!
Zippo, you go in the DL/UL club section and you will find out where I got that gif from ;)
As for our police, I remember the Gumball actually passes through it already in the past so why not the Cannonball :D afterall, it's not a race :D
And of course, still no answer... I suppose I will camp on the highway for a couple of days in september :D
Thanks dani for the infos :D
And yes indeed Spanish police wasn't really easy this year :D here you just receive an hyper-high fine (somebody that was caught doing some 120 (or 140) km/h in a 80 zone got a 18'000 USD fine some months ago.. his lawyer, managed to make it drop at some thousands only, but I doubt any gumballer would end up in prison :D

By the way...ive got some questions to ask about the Gumball...for instance, i dont understand how the gumballers were able to pass through france, without relevant problems, once every french authorities knew when they were going to pass through the country, and which road they were going to use to get through. In addition, the number of radars in french motorways is very high indeed, and the fines very high as well regardless the driver is a Formula 1 driver(ask Juan Pablo Montoya or Jean Alesi)
And im not able to understand either if there is a plan to get through France and Switzerland once the traffic low in the swiss country is even more strict, unless the radar detectors are very effective, or any autority is accompliced with them...Anyway....any clue or opinion of some member will be welcome for me...

Is it there where they proportion your ticket to your yearly earnings? (Read about it in the guiness book) If so, most of the gumballers are quite wealthy, so their tickets would be tremendous!

Hey cool, I'm dying for the Gumball 2004 DVD!
They should have Gumball vs Cannon Ball in a rally style event with points and stuff- all in good natured cop dodging of course.
