<NEW UPDATE>
Now ive got my own digi cam that is actually half decent, i thought it was time to make some videos of the thing in action. Its the spring holidays, and the weather was nice, so today seemed like the perfect opportunity. Everyone was at work which meant, a quiet, peaceful, and largely uncluttered streatch of tarmac, UNTIL NOW!!!!
http://img81.exs.cx/img81/1516/kart0054of.th.jpg (http://img81.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img81&image=kart0054of.jpg)

Here are the videos, a HUGE thanks going to thamar for the hosting.

This is the first run (hence the steady speeds)
http://www.busted.be/tom/kart_008.avi4.3mb

A more spirited drive 8)
http://www.busted.be/tom/kart_009.avi2.5mb

Here is my friends run (he has the half share in the kart with me) also notice the superb safety system, whereby everyone shouts CAR!!! as soon as one is spotted!
http://www.busted.be/tom/kart_010.avi1.75mb

Here is the guided tour, with suitably tacky commentry and hand gestures.
http://www.busted.be/tom/kart_011.avi6mb

A really nice high speed run with corners!!! watch how the sound completely disappears as i go round the corner, then all of a sudden all hell breaks loose once again!
http://www.busted.be/tom/kart_012.avi2.4mb

**This is by far the BEST video of them all. Me doing my party tricks :P the thing is so light, you can flick it about all over the place!**

Once again, thanks going to Thamar for the hosting

Well, you may remember that some of my first post were regarding my go-kart, but as i didn't then have a camera i was unable to provide evidence. However, i recently borrowed one from a friend (as some of my other posts show) and there was a break in the rain today, so i went round to my friends house where the kart is kept (we both have a half-share in it) Anyway here are the pics, and i am trying to find a site that will allow the upload of the 1.5mb vid. Anyway - here are the pics:
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/3378/DSCI0002.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0002.jpg)
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/5336/DSCI0003.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0003.jpg)
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/6218/DSCI0004.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI7.jpg)
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/1530/DSCI0005.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0005.jpg)
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/3868/DSCI0006.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0006.jpg)
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/9704/DSCI0007.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0007.jpg)

Now with a go-kart a custom shot is tricky - but this is the best i could do at the time.
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/4185/DSCI0008.th.jpg (http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34&image=DSCI0008.jpg)

It's our pride and joy.

I also shot a small video today of it, when my friend took it out on the road - i am currently too scared to do this, as it is a main road, with heavy traffic usually - plus its illegal!

So if anyone knows where i can host a 1.5mb vid, or if anyone is willing to give up some of their space i would be pleased - its a nice vid, the sound is the best bit!

{-EDIT-} Vid now posted below

Tom

P.S. TT, can this go in the member's rides directory?

LOL a bit borderline for the registry, but why not ;) the custom shot is not really into the rules, but I guess it's ok for now ;) :P
The day you will find the owner manual let us know :D

Nice steering...and looking at the tires, are u gonna play it mostly off-road?

topgeartom

we tried it off road, but it has absolutely NO suspension - just the give in the chassis, so we stick mainly to the black stuff. The tyres are good for the wet!

Nice pics and the sound in the video is cool! That thing can give you lots of fun. But I wouldn't really fill it with Rover stickers :-) I mean, I've seen plenty of people use ferrari stickers of in your case Aston Martin would be cool, but Rover ... :P No offence, but there're not that known for their racing victories.

All the go-cart's I've seen sofar all have slick tires and are used on track, but seen your choice of tires I suppose you also drive it alot on the street?

have fun & enjoy your vacation

Damn, I believe I'll have to give up the GIMP, somebody knows how to use Photoshop in Fedora Core 2(if is possible)?
Sorry Tom, but The Gimp is kicking my ass.
I'll make a dual boot then I try again.

Hey Tom great cart! Looks like fun (and sounds like it  ) My friend in Russia used to race in republics champioships on carts and was pretty good in it. But we had carts lower than yours they where almost on the ground with slicks as zippo said. This gonna be fun in winter on ice :P

you can take you test at 17 so long as you've done the theory test so still a while to wait, but the go cart's cool for the moment :D

Nice kart! But it is a little bit high, isn't it??

Eheh.. and the engine is from a power generator right?? :)

Well it is probably higher than a race kart - but the sprocket on the rear axel is roughly 3-4" off the ground, so there really isnt a lot of clearance. I'm not sure where the engine is from. We bought it ready assembled, without any documentation. I have seen similar engines on generators though. I'm thinking of finding a large generator with an 8.0hp engine on it :D :D :D :D :D

Ohh and yes. The driving age in britain is 17, as AL123 said. problem is the insurance on a car, so in reality i will b lucky if i can drive when im 18.

Nice vids Tom :P Thanx for "walk-around" vid with comments too  You should make some kind of track on the road maybe (probably on empty parking lot) from the half-cut plastic bottles or so, so you can run on time cut corners and stuff :D I would do that if I had a cart

thats exactly what we did. In Britain they have a sport called autotesting which is usaually done with stripped down minis or something similar. Basically, there is a really challenging layout on a small piece of tarmac, wheeby you have to do 360's and stuff to get roundit the fastest.

Me n my best mate set one up on the road with trsffic cones and bricks. It was fun but the kart isnt that great and low speeds. The sprocket on the back axel is off-set to the left, so nearly all the power goes straight to the rear left wheel, weather it has grip or not, so in a tight turn you usually just get lots of tyre squeling and not much go!

actually, if you look on the guided tour video, you can see how the rear left-hand tyre is far more worn than any other!
