CRT Monitor's

So here I am...next week I'll be making the big decision of getting rid of my piece of shit 15" monitor with bad picture quality for a brand new 19" CRT. Since I'll be doing Mechanical Engineering within the few months such as Solid Works and especially for Gaming, Movie watching and you know...the usual. I would like for your guys advice on some good 19" CRT's out there.

So far...I only have this in mind.

I dont know what else I would get. If you can recommend anything else, I'll will be more than happy to look into it.

I could get this monitor for about 240 dollars. Sounds really good to me. :D

Also, anyone recommend any of the Graphic series from Viewsonic...since they are reasonably cheaper than the Pro Series.

Viewsonic make great monitors from what i understand. A Sony would be a good choice too. but always remember, you pay for what you get.

I've got a 21" Sony Trinitron and it is great although I want to go either larger or LCD but cheap LCD's suck for gaming so I will probably stick to CRT. If you want a good one go for a Sony or NEC but Viewsonic are good for what they are.

The trinitron is by far better , you can see some 17" refurb LCDs too

a 15" lcd
is better then a 20" crt imo.

^ I know that a 15" LCD is roughly equivalent to a 17" CRT in terms of screen size but a 20" is a fair bit bigger than a 15" LCD.

Thanks for all the information so far. I've been looking into the View Sonics and NEC/Mitsubishi lately. So far...I havent found any NEC's that I like. Sony...I havent looked into. Oh yeah....a. grill lines...I wonder if its noticable on the Sony models and NEC.

I think Iiyama and Misubishi make the best... a Mitsubishi Diamondtron (??) is quite cheap and offers great resolution :D

With a 21" CRT on the cards, i'm guessing space isn't much of a problem :wink:

So Im still debating and confused. :D

Im just wondering if anyone can give me information about this...and what it means...cause im kinda curious. the viewsonic I want...it says...

"Dot Pitch: 0.25 mm aperture grille at center, 0.27 mm aperture grille at corners"

...what does that mean?

I also have been reading reviews about Viewsonics and how users who have them always have trouble with them. So now im leaning more towards NEC/Mitsubishi. Anyone recommend a good model as well?

I use a 19" Samsung 955DF it can do 1280x1024 @ 75Hz

Motorsport engineering which is bascially a more specific mechanical engineering course. Haven't heard of solid works.... I'll let you know what programs we use when i start ;)

Sounds good mindgam3, let me know how that course goes when you start! dont forget. as for me...im doing this so I can get certified and then I can pretty much get a job right away. Making 28+ dollars a hour isnt that bad for a 18 year old. :D Hmm...Motorsports Engineering...my brother in law recommended that since I was into cars.

I have been using a 19" Mitsubishi 930SB Pro for a year and its been great. Before that I had a Sony 17" for 6 years and that was great as well :)

I like that monitor of yours. Especially your whole system. Everything goes together. :D

Anyways, I went to a local store and I was comparing monitor's such as the Viewsonic P95F+B and the NEC/Mitsubishi FE991 something something...and both are REALLY good monitors. But I think im going to get the Viewsonic due to the fact that it has brightnest controls on the monitor so I can switch them easily when watching movies and what not. But still..I dont know for sure yet...

Yeah, It looks really nice because it also has Silver. All black would look too dull. Anyways, when I get my monitor I'll take pictures of my system for you guys and of course of the new monitor. :D
