Downpipes CONT.

OK....I have some money now to get some downpipes for my car. If I were to get it, Im wondering, how hard would it be to put them on? Im not very good with cars but I did put on a catback exhaust on and I thought that was pretty easy. If anyone has put downpipes or headers on there car could you tell me how hard it was? My car is a Audi 2000 S4.

downpipes will be trickier to install because of access issues and headers can have the same problem but other then that it should be just as easy as installing a cat-back.

i highly reccomend taking them to a shop to have them installed, due to the fact the tubos are so hard to get to on an S4! it took me 12 hours to install the miltek downpipes/cats/exhaust on an audi S4 and it was a majr pain in the ass!

you really need a lift to make it easiest!

How much do you think a normal place would charge? You guys know what your doing and if your having trouble then I would have alot of trouble.....but then again, you gotta start somewhere.

Ya Im planning on doing it myself. The only thing I heard that I should worry about is breaking the bolts into two. If that happens then I need to tap the block...and I don't know how to do that. So...possibly, something could go wrong. Next, I looked up some directions in how to do this and they said that I would need to get a O2 sensor socket....what the hell is this? Does anyone know?

It's a special Socket for a Socket wrench that fits around your O2 sensor so that you can get a better grip on it, it's no big deal go to Sears and get one from Craftsman they don't cost that much or see if you can borrow one from someone. if you are feeling lucky you can always use a box end wrench just make sure not to round off the O2 sensor.

Ok... Another question. Does anyone have any good ideas for me to make sure that I don't snap the bolts off? Thats the only thing Im afraid of when I begin to do this. All I know of is using some good lubricants and a blowtorch.

use lots of penetrating oil if they are that bad I've never had that problem luckily and buy NEW bolts to install don't use the old ones.
