you need to do something to that car I've had the pleasure of driving one of the anniversary edition WS6's with SLP Straight pipes and a custom intake. The thing was loud and fast. I love that car.

I'm tempted to wait til the warranty expires, but yeah now that I've had her a couple of months, I've got used to the power...

Exhaust and intake will NOT void your Warranty in the US and if you get it from SLP it doesn't matter what you do since it is a GM company at some dealerships they will install it all before you buy the car and add it to the initial cost of your Lease or Financing.
Although they seem to be working on Mustangs now since the Camaro/Firebird is dead.

You can't do jack to cars in the UK without voiding your warranty...

I've got SLP Springs on it now that you mention it...hence it's a little low :)

RC45 was advising me on ECU tuning, LS1 edit, and all that - I just need to find a trustworthy upgrader in DFW.

T-Bird wrote: "Although they seem to be working on Mustangs now since the Camaro/Firebird is dead"

Yeah a guy I work with showed me the SLP website (he's an SS driver and chevy loyalist) and he was like 'WTF, they are doing Mustangs now?'

On the subject of Stangs, I'd have loved a Supercharged Cobra, the 02/03 model, but my budget wouldn't allow it.

well SLP built the SS and Firehawk's at their factory actually so alot of their parts are already SLP, if you look through the site you might notice that they have original stock replacements for them.

One major bit of advice. Dont buy parts from SLightly Price performance.

They over charge and they arent the best parts on the market.

beast!! i wanted a WS6 before the WRX but sadly, insurance would have cost an arm and a leg. and probably cause for prostitution

Here's a little picture I took pf what I saw in my rear view mirror a while back.

Hope you enjoy it.. There are few cars on the road that look more sinister than this.. :)

Thanks for the pics dude :D

I just noticed your signature and I am wondering.. did you live in Europe in the past? Or do you actually had a 106 S16 in the US?

I love the WS6 looks even if it does only add 15 hp. How much did you pay for that baby? I hope in 08 when i graduate they will have brought back the T/A since the Camaro is coming back in 07. A Black WS6 is one of the meanest looking cars in the world. I think if i saw this and a cobra right next to it in my rear view id cry.

I can tell you're from the mainland calling the pug an S16 !!!

Yes I am European (English), I am working in the US for a couple of years at Lockheed. I got the Z3 when I first moved here. The other cars in my sig are the ones I had in the UK.

I think it adds a bit more than 15hp - I drove a 320hp Cobra earlier in the year and my WS6 feels quicker. A lot of them dyno at about 340Crank HP so I am told although I ought to dyno it now or STFU!!! I'll be taking it to a tuner and getting some minor upgrading done in the near future so I'll post pics of the results. I'd like to get another 80 HP or so.

I paid $21500 plus tax in June at a Mercedes dealership of all places, which is a little on the high side I know, but the car is a manual and in a popular colour. Also it only had 20k miles on the odo.

I'd have liked a black one but the only ones I could find were automatics

I got the Z3 first, then I realised how rude I was by not having an American car! (the truth is I grew out of the Z3, and wanted something faster & with a manual gbox)

Nice pic!

It pains me to say it but few cars are going to get past your Z06 (including a WS6) so I guess you see a lot of things in your rear view mirror.

Go test drive a Terminator Cobra, the New Edges were nice but the Terminator is just plain sexy. I think the WS6 Appearance/Handling package only improves over 15 hp.

Hehe ;) thanks for explaining that :D too bad :D it would rock to own a 106 in the US I guess, since it would be one of the most exotics cars in town ;)

Yep, there's a guy from NL here at work who has imported his 320d compact. Not that exciting, but probably the only BMW compact in the area, and even more 'exotic' as BMW don't sell diesels in the US either.

That's a really nice car, I drove one on the highway once in the U.S. it was from a friend of mine, black but automatic, he'd changed cams, exhaust, filter and chip, he said it had at least 400 bhp...honestly I have no idea, all I can say it scared the crap out of me when I floored and it accelerted over 70 mph like it was from a standstill, definetely a sensations machine!! the only thing I really didn't like was the cheapness of the interior and wasn't impressed at all with the handling, it was lowered and don't know what other modifications done to the suspension but it felt quite heavy...still VERY impressed, even more so it being an automatic

I love the looks of your car. It looks so mean!

Is it me, or does that T/A in RC's pic have the steering wheel on the "wrong" side?

dude it's a reflection everything in the mirror looks backward go to the mirror and raise your left arm, in the reflection it looks like the right arm. I'm sure you knew that already but it just didn't register

Thanks very much! Unfortunately I can't take it back to the UK with me in 18 months time when I go home...the insurance would be about the same as I pay here but the gas prices...$7 a gallon...

I wondered why this thread got dug up!!!

It was called a Pontiac (Firebird) Trans Am WS6

The Pontiac Firebird is another name, but 'Firebird' is usually used to describe the 3.8 V6 200hp, and Trans Am used to describe the 5.7 V8 285-305hp (it changed a bit over the years of production)

The WS6 package was a performance and handling upgrade introduced in the late 1990s to give better suspension (it was still crap compared to an M3 or similar) and more power, 325hp and 350 lb/ft torque - almost the same as a stock C5 Corvette. It consisted of the ramair (bulge in the middle of the hood - the two small 'vents' slightly higher than the level of the headlamp covers) induction system and slightly better flowing exhaust system.

It was the Pontiac 'equivalent' of the Mustang Cobra and is the same car as the Chevy Camaro SS but with a different bodyshell (and some trim) obviously.

Mine was stock, but I had the 'free' modifications embodied (like the coolant not being passed through the carb body, holes drilled in the airbox)

It was a 6-speed manual although you can get a 4-speed auto.

Some of them had Traction Control but mine didn't - as long as you were careful in the wet it was fine...

See the pic - Where it says 'Trans Am' would say 'Firebird' on a V6 model. Those are also the WS6 exhaust pipes, the regular V8 has two per side...

Yep the Firehawk is another variant...

This blast from the past thread includes the picture that was the catalyst for me leaving RacingFlix for good.. ;)

http://www.z06vette.com/gallery/data/500/3648100_2277.jpg

I posted this with the same "hey this looks evil/sinister" by line... and it turned into a "American cars suck, that's the ugliest POS" ever thread.

When ever I see this picture I think how much better JW is than most every other forum out there.

BTW - T/A, are you staying on in the US? If so you need to dig up another decent pushrod V8 hehe

TransAm

Every picture tells a story. This one I didn't know until today...I was never party to RF or what went on there as you know

As for staying in the US, well I'd rather talk about it offline if you are interested, suffice to say I am networking as much as I can but I don't hold out much hope. I need a lottery win or an employer sponsor... :(

There'll be a huuuuge post if I do have any luck, don't you worry!
