This is a link to a video of a test of the GT3 and M3CSL. They tested it on the ring, but the video is about them going flat out on their way to the ring. http://www.autovisie.nl/download/cliparchief/20030903_dubbeltest_totaal.mov (8,7 Mb)
And some more rubber burning clips:

Check their site for more tiny clips. It's in Dutch. :?

Yeah, I guess like all other models the CSL is limited to 250km/h. So it's pretty obvious that the Porsche catches up.

It`s a license which allows you to race on track like a pro driver or smth.

Thanks for the cool vids draak666! Wonder if BMW sells the CSL here in the US? Never seen a body kit like that on a Z3 before (if at all).

Good to see the two cars together on video. I don't think the CSL is worth the money (over the stock m3) but I still love the way it looks and sounds..

The sound of the CSL is marvelous. This car won the first price for best steering car of the same dutch magazine. It beaten the GT3, 360 CS and the TVR Tuscan :D

I downloaded the vids and forgot to thanks the poster : thanks dude !
The CSL sounds really really good, the BMW 6 in line is really a masterpiece, especially in M version.
The CSL is faster than the GT3 on the Nurbürgring but (almost) all the magazines that tested them are agree that it is due to its tyres that are soft / track oriented, developped for the road and track use. Without them it would be harder as the GT3 performs better and has better brakes too (for the Nurbürgring the almost fade-free helps a lot i think)
The GT3 RS has these tyres , and the Stradale too and i don't know wich one is faster between those three cars but i bet on the RS.

Thanks 4 the link, I lov the simple fact that putting your car on a diet always increases performance.
If I only could afford the GT3, porsche is there anything else b4 you reach hyper car, oh they have that too now.
The speed restrictor is an Australian opt. and you must have the CAMS racing lic to have the factory remove it or you loose warranty and originality.
Oh and for the person who asked is the Merc motor in the Barbrus the same as the Zonda, yes & no, it's the same engine, however Horatio Pagani had the motor tuned by McLaren.

I never thought a bimmer could sound that good.. As much as I love the GT3 that shot of the instruments while wound out just makes me cringe.. what an awful design

the csl definitely is a very fast car.
but the gt3 will beat the car, i am sure.
the track test shown on bbc-topgear (video can be downloaded at racingflix.com) - gt3 is faster than csl.
the gt3 was about i guess 3 seconds slower on the nürburgring circuit which is over 20 km long on normal sport tires.
the csl was driven with the michelin semi-race tires, which are almost undriveable on wet conditions!
with similar tires, i am sure the gt3 will win!
the trunk-bottom of the csl is made of cardboard!!! no joke.
the interior of the gt3 offers pure racing atmosphere - the interior of the csl doesn't
