Yesterday on french TV show Turbo I saw the end of a report about a Ferrari center that rebuilt every old formula one for customers that want it. I undersood the most rebuilt car was the first car that MS win F1 World championship with.
Since I lack start of report I'm not sure about what I'm telling so anyone got more information about this center or did I misunderstood report I saw.

Yup, you can buy old ferrari F1 cars. It costs anywhere between £500,000 to £2 million depending on what car you buy and how often you use it. Youhave to be a "preffered" ferrari customer though, not anyone can go and buy one. Ferrari keeps the right to refuse resale though and you can't change any of the logos or electronic settings. Also ferrari still have the right to take it to certain events where the owner may be required to drive it etc. You basically get a ferrari race team to go with it too though which isnt bad ;) The actual car though is de tuned to about 90% to improve its longevity, although this will still result in a 0-62 of around 2.5 and 200mph+ top speed depending on the gearing used. Ferrari have their F1 customer centre at marenello at the same place where their test track and HQ are. There was a full report of Frank Mountain when he went to pick up the championship winning F2001 car in Car magazine, there were 5th gear people there too so maybe it'll be on Tv sometime

i don't think they will "rebuild" the car from some plans or scratch, they use the old race cars (obviously serviced & rebuilt), so there will be a limited number of each car available... (ie how many were built at the time)

Oh I cant wait to see that article...thanks! I dont think its a rebuild either..otherwise people wouldnt pay that much..when people buy one they are not just buying it for the experience but because its a part of racing history...and a replica wouldnt have that, and would not be worth as much..its just ccoler to have the real thing..

Deffo... i'm not sure that they actually make replicas at the factory... just the real thing

I know I have that one too I think it was mentioned above aswell.
they are rebuilt cars, rebuilt means fixed up to original specs like new not rebuilt as in replica, they rebuild the Engines and whatever needs it then sell them.

But then again, an F1 car is rebuilt completely after each race so it doesn't really take away any authenticity ;)

Yeah, and you can't do any modification not even in paint or stickers, or it voids the authenticity of origin, and Ferrari have to approve you in case you want to sell your car.

I did say that, 2nd post ;)
Don't blame them though, that would be like getting the Mona Lisa and putting a moustache on her with black marker
Car Magazine scan...
