More automotive misfortune.

Well, fortunately, this isn't as bad as what happened to Hemi-Fan, but it still was something awful.

I was out putting the Integra through the twisties (as is my bi-weekly rotine), and was left foot braking through a particularly nasty off-camber corner, and I guess I overcooked it a bit. All of a sudden the tail snapped out form behind me and the car started spinning. Luckily, I was able to catch it and keep the car on the road, but not before my right fender struck a branch that was sticking out onto the road. SO, now I'm left with a dented right fender, and a completely bald right front tire :| , which I won'be able to fix until I come back from school next summer. :cry:

Oh man that sucks, good thing you were able to keep the car on the road or else you could have been messed up pretty bad. Is the extent of the damage only cosmetic besides the right front tire? Possibly examine the front suspension joints for damage or a black grease discharge which comes with broken axle joints. Glad to hear your alright though.

Thanks for the concern! I usually don't look at the speedo much when I'm driving seriously, I'm paying attention to the road, and what the car is telling me, but I'd say I was at around 70-80 MPH. The damage is purely cosmetic, I'm pretty sure, The tire should be no problem, but I'll have to take it to a bodyshop to get the fender and cracked turn signal fixed.

It's really not as bad as I'm making it seem. It's not like the fender is totally smashed, it just has a grapefruit sized dent in it and a cracked turn signal. The funny thing is that during the whole spin, at no point did I fear for my own safety, but I was terrified for my car.

Edit: I guess its shows that we're all human. Even poor Ayrton made a mistake once. :|

you know replacing a turn signal doesn't exactly take any knowledge accept plugs and screws, and if the body is plastic you can fix it yourself if you feel compitent enough, no need wasting money on labor especially for the light.

Good thing no one else was on the road, otherwise you would have a lot more than just a fender bender. Good thing to hear nothing serious happened.

Yeah, usually that road is deserted, which is why I use it. As for the lens and body work, the fender is aluminum, I believe, so I don't trust myself with it, and I'm pretty bad at wiring, (the only kind I can do is my guitars). The other problem is the bald right front tire, which is totally unusable, and I can't really afford a new tire right now. Thinking about it, on the sections of the road that I drove before the incident, I was getting through them the fastest I hade ever done in the Integra, and wasn't having many control issues, and I drive these roads quite often (to give you an idea, theres a long straight that I clocked 130MPH in the S2000, I was at 120 there in the Integra yesterday). I had to have been going waaay faster than before to get an FWD car that out of shape.

you don't have to do any wiring for the turn signal, have you ever replaced a head light? it's the same thing, unscrew the fixture unplug the wire and slide it out slide on the new one plug it in and voila a working turn signal. And I've personally never heard of Honda using Aluminum body panels on a car before especially an Integra so I would bet against that which for your sake money wise you better hope it's not. as for the tire don't you have a spare tire? even idiots who remove them on a daily driver (they'd pray they didn't the day they get a flat) SHOULD have it at home.

I have a spare, but its one of those shitty small spares that are designed to get you to the nearest gas station. As for the aluminum, I could be wrong, it might be steel, but its definitely not plastic. The NSX is all aluminum though.
