Definitely the M3 a la une reminds me excelent memories such as JM Ponce (the guy in the texaco/camel/marlboro sponsored M3, one of my favourite drivers ever on tarmac), Pep Bassas (the guy in the Telefunken/blaupunkt/quickstate who created some trouble to Carlos Sainz in order to win the spanish rallying championship), naturally the spectacular driver from Corsica Patrick Bernardini in the Rothmans sponsored M3, Bernard Beguin/François Chatriot (the bastos sponsored M3s) not drifting the M3 very much but such a beautiful driving style because of their driving technique, naturally I dont understimate Marc Duez (in the FINA sponsored M3) not as effective as Chatriot or Beguin, but very spectacular; and naturally Ill mention the almost Basque driver (he has been compiting many times in the french Basque country championship) Hugues Delage; sorry for being too biased, lol

The Bastos and Fina M3's are prepared by Prodrive. The Prodrive M3's can be regonised by the small rear numberplates, because the fuel cap is near it. This is clear to see on the next pic.

Exactly, the Duez and the Bastos Team M3 were prepared by prodrive because of it little number plate, the cars have the prodrive badge under the front numberplate as well;

I thought the rally M3's were based on the 2.3L EVO versions. I remember something about 28 were made by Prodrive in total. They had about 300 bhp. However it is possible there were made some 2.5L as well.

Where are the Prodrive M3's nowadays?
I think lots of them dissapeared in private collections. I know there is one for rent for rallying in the Netherlands:

Exactly, almost every M3 from the video is based on the ordinary 2300cc M3. In fact, most of the M3 relevant sequences are held in 1988 (before the M3 sport evolution was launched) in the Tour de Corse rallye such as the Bernardini´s, the Marc Duez´s one, the Team Bastos´s,..if not, the sequence is from 1989 (another Chatriot´s sequence in Tour de Corse with the 1988 M3) or 1991 (another Bernardini´s sequence in the island as well); if it wasnt enough, Pep Bassas used to compete in the spanish rallying championshiop in the 2300cc M3 before 1991 (in 1991 he decided to compete in the touring car championship on racetrack due to the BMW´s policy) and JM Ponce used to compete in the spanish championship in the Sauerman prepared 2300cc M3 (furthermore, JM Ponce tried to get the 2500cc specifications in the M3 in order to get more performances maintaining the reliability, but it seems that he had some problems, specially with the electronics and the engine reliability, and therefore he got back the 2300cc M3). Finally, as far as I know, Delage has always been compiting in the 2300cc M3; however, I dont have very much clue about other french private drivers such as Eric Rousset, Benoit Rousselot, De Meyer, and so on

On the other hand, as redbaron said, the M3 used to develop about 300bhp, and I agree with redbaron that most of the prodrive M3 are sold to collectors and they are stored in the garage

Probably its possible to rent it in France since the car supposes very much fun, and many skills for driving it as well as its much thougher to drive than any mitsubishi Evo; surprisingly, the M3 even didnt used to have the assisted steering wheel as many grA from the ninetees such as the sierra cosworth, the renault 11 turbo, the integrale,.....
