Finally I bought my car, as my name suggests I was interested in a GTO first or any related type of V8. But when looking for a car it's best to keep an open mind and look at every car in the fullest detail. I decied to go for a stock sleeper thats bit more elegant than a simple head turner, later I came close to an audi but its too expensive compared to a WRX. It was love at first sight when I saw this car!

I’ve been playing with it for a month now, its simply amazing in tight mountain pass and hard to match in the rain at night, lol yes initial D style. I got to borrow a GTO and it was never this fast, cornering speed is simply astounding!

I love the hatch because it’s great for my mountain bike and camping gear for the weekend. What funny is that the standards non turbo impreza hatch is driven by women and WRX hatch are kinda scarce. So any idiot is simply shocked at the acceleration of a seeming slow station wagon leaves them for dead! :)

This weekend I was lucky to of annoyed a new 911 turbo driver, he over took me while I was doing the speed limit. I speed up and rode his ass around the corners at 140 KPH (85 MPH) into a corner posted 70KPH (42MPH) with ease! If he was a good driver he would of left me easy but shows how easy to drive a WRX is! 8)

I’ve gone from V8’s to 2litre turbo and never looked back! Simply amazing :)

Oh any JW people living in Sydney it be cool to organise a cruise, I can go the WRX club but I’d rather drive with a variety of cars rather than the same type, kinda boring! :?

Not a bad car dude, Im not sure what you mean by sleeper, it is a rex after all....

Id be up for a cruise, but im in Brisbane :|

Yep nice car for sure! Here the hatch is quite common or better, it was VERY common for the previous models, now for the last one no idea why, everybody buy the sedan and probably 7/10 go for the STI.

I was driven around for a while by a friend owning an Impreza Sportwagon years ago (it was the 211 hp model) and it indeed amazing/scary already!

Thanks for the custom shot ;)

Nice car, man. What I don't like about it is the interior: pure cheap crap.

At work at the moment,
Thanks for the kind comments,

Mopsdrops - Vid when I get really good with it, I really haven’t started to explore its potential. On Saturday I in the national park on the visible hairpins, in the rain I dropped it into second and floored it to try to get it out of shape but it held! In a normal car I would of spun, I think I’ll have to take it to the skid pan to see where the limits of the car are…

Sikx5 – Twitchy, haven’t seen any sign yet but yeah if it loses grip potential on a oily, dirty or uneven road, it’s a world of hurt.

TT- Yeah STI is all the go, if not get the sedan with optional STI bookshelf, still love the STI though. This one is only 230HP.
Your welcome on the custom shot, save you the hassle of asking for it for the 1000'th time!

Gis- no mods planned yet, I’m going to go to a rally school to test an STI and see where the weakness and strengths of my car, but I’d say the first thing is Bremo brakes, it’ll let me get away with more.

Everso- Thanks, still like the GTO though, I had fun in it :)

Oldsnail- In the US its “sportswagon” here its WRX hatch. At the road registration office they call it a hatch.

SilviaEvo- Legacy out of production, you mean turbo charged Liberty right? Yeah I defiantly thought about it but it isn’t really a true sports car thought its very nice.

BADMIHAI- not a nice thing to say dude! To everyone I say that it’s a pure sports car and its has to be minimal, I like the interior. The Audi’s I sat in, the interiors were really nice but wasn’t me. Here its simple and very comfortable.

hmmm they must have discontinued it down there because here in the states they have a brand new legacy. its got a 250HP Intercooled Turbo engine. which starts at about 25 thou USD and the wagon at 26 thou USD

Nice car and good to see another Aussie member.
When you talk about the GTO are you referring to the HSV GTO or the Monaro (Pontiac GTO in the USA)? I assume you mean the HSV since we don't call the Monaro a GTO over here. :D

SilviaEvo- Had a quick look at the Subaru USA site. They sell the Legacy as the Liberty here, simple misunderstanding. Very nice car but the GT (turbo) version is much more expensive than the WRX here.

dingo21- I say GTO but I mean the Manaro, since this is mainly an US forum. HSV GTO awesome but so damn expensive. I had a deal for a new Black VYII HSV clubsport but the deal fell through because I wanted an ’03 plated @ $50k (AUS) retail is $65K but they ran out of stock and was trying to get me to buy an ’04 for $4000 more, I told them to get ^%$ because it was the same car but the plates were different. Apparently it’s a tactic commonly used by dealers to sell you imaginary cars and get you to buy other cars at more expensive price. Looking back thank God it did fell through! WRX forever!

The Manaro I got to borrow, series 1 with the god ugly VX interior , still have a soft spot for the lumbering beast though.

GPS though, it didn’t tell where Fsywick was, for everyone it’s a place in our fair capital that is the redlight district where is the only place you can buy p0rn and firecrackers legally. The boot was full of it when we left lol :)
and Yes WTF auto, I mean who buys a sportscar in auto!!! Next to it the active traction control, one push equal fun cornering!

^^ Was the GPS an aftermarket install? The ergonomics suck ... I mean if you have to look that far below trying to figure out directions its an accident waiting to happen. If it is stock, GM really sucks

About your car... I like it ... it is a definite sleeper (Q car) and that is a great thing to have .. you can speed without being too obvious about it.

Badmihai about your comment on the interior quality ... it is true that the WRX looks like a normal Jap car from inside but keep in mind that the car is priced very reasonably. So you could get a nice interior in say and Audi or BMW but you will pay more for it. The car is functional and leave it that.

I sat in a WRX in a car show and I think the seats are very good - comfortable and pretty gripping. I only wished the brake was a lot closer to accelerator for better heel and toeing.

^^ it a HSV one, its Holdens up market company, so yeah GM. It was ok because it was voice directed, "turn left in 100 meters, you missed the turn, turn left at 400 meters " and so on. It great for the person riding shotgun to play with on long boring drives, once in [D] drive you can see the screen ok.

Thanks, yeah that what I like about it, WRX’s are usually are real pig magnets but cops don't look at mine twice, or anyone else for that matter, which makes it easy to live with.
Complete opposite the bright yellow Manaro, it was noisy too (awesome noise though). After three days I was saying things like “huh the colour, can I turn it off?! And where is the volume control for the engine?!, its giving me a headache” I do remember it getting on my nerves, I wanted one in silver for that clean unassuming look, the later models had better (quieter) exhausts and better interior sound proofing.

Hence why I was looking at Audi, nice car and something you can easily live with.
You got a S4! Very nice here they cost more than twice my WRX even second hand! One stage I was looking at a second hand 2000 S3, now that’s a real sleeper, insane little thing lol
Cars here are damn expensive compared to the US.

The interior quality, exactly my thoughts, thank you :)

Didn’t think about heal toeing yet, there’s always aftermarket, it shouldn’t be a problem I think. But I’m going to leave it as is.

Really nice car man. I love Subies! Never seen those type of tail lights or rims in Canada before. Never seen those mudflaps either. They look really good though. Which we had them here.

^ Thx, yeah I looked at the USA site, silightly diffrent. The 05 Subies here now have the rims at the US/Canada one. My car is basically the Japanese model.

I also looked at the optional extras in the US, different again. Yeah even here I only seen one other one with those mudflaps and it was a red RS sedan :?
