EXCLUSIVE MASERATI QUATTROPORTE DELIVERED TO ITALY’S PRESIDENT CIAMPI IN ROME

Modena, 23 July 2004.

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo Chairman of the Ferrari Maserati Group, together with Maserati Chief Executive Martin Leach delivered a special Maserati Quattroporte to Italy’s President Carlo Azeglia Ciampi during a private ceremony at the Quirinale Palace in Rome today.

The car in dark blue with a natural hide interior is armour-plated and fitted with a range of personalised options selected by the President. The car can be distinguished from other Quattroporte by the two flag holders on the front wings.

In 2003, President Ciampi visited the Maserati factory in Modena and was given an exclusive preview of the new Quattroporte. Such was his interest in the car that the first armour-plated car was assigned to him. The car was then officially unveiled to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will also take delivery of a silver armour-plated Quattroporte in the next few days, along with a number of other government representatives.

The last President to use a Maserati Quattroporte was Sandro Pertini during the 1980s together with Giovanni Spadolini, then President of the Senate.

What a great way to travel but maybe the handling is spoiled by the weight added for being an armoured vehicle :(

Did someone notice his watch on the first picture?

I think he's a little too old to drive that thing. Maybe I should start applying for the driver.

I doubt he'll be driving it. But yeah, it is definitely one of the best saloons around.

Berlusconi is such a mobster. He'll need his armour plated Quatroporte. IMO armour plating the Quatroporte is wasting it, as it turns it into a slow tank from a fast sedan.

Its not the first time that the italian prime minister are invited to the maserati factory in Italy, and they have ordered some Quattroporte afterwards, in fact i remember that during the eightees and the ninetees.....the prime ministers of Italy of that period owned some maserati Quattroporte(the first shape of it) or Royale although they had the chance to get a 7 series BMW, a S class merc, or the Audi V8

Yes, the car will be very heavy with that silver armour plated... If i'm the president of Italy I would like to have the Enzo instead  but without silver armour plated and that Italy flag...

i bet the car had to have been tweaked for a special "president package" i bet the car dynos beyond reg spec and the suspension is tweaked even further. gotta compensate for the added weight.
