On to the individual pics ...

Mclaren MP4/4 - Ayrton Senna - 1988 - 1:64 Minichamps
-->not the prettiest F1 car but certainly one of the most dominant - its 1.5 l turbo engine propelled Ayrton and Alain to 15 wins out of 16 races
Model Rating: 6/10 (too small to notice all details)
Worth buying? Yes if you want the complete Senna collection
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/9507/DSCN3602.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3602.jpg)

Mclaren MP4/7 - Ayrton Senna - 1992 - 1:64 Minichamps
--> Aaah, along with the Ferrari 641 one of the prettiest shapes to come in the last 20 years.
Model Rating: 6/10 (too small to notice all details)
Worth buying? Yes if you want the complete Senna collection
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/1717/DSCN3605.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3605.jpg)

Mclaren MP4/2B - Niki Lauda - 1984 - 1:43 Minichamps
--> Older shape sort of resembles the 1992 shape more than the 1988 version.
Model Rating: 8/10 (much better than the above two)
Worth buying? Definitely - nice model + Lauda was WDC in this car
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/8313/DSCN3606.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3606.jpg)

Williams Renault FW16 - Ayrton Senna - 1994 - 1:43 Minichamps
--> Senna's last ride - one of the coolest paint jobs ever
Model Rating: 10/10 (much better than the above two)
Worth buying? Yes ... Ayrton Senna .. nuff said
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/1327/DSC00356.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSC00356.jpg)

Tyrrell 002 - Francois Cevert - 1972 - 1:43 Quartzo
--> Actual car: neat shape. Model: I am not impressed with Quartzo - looks cheap and flimsy construction -- i will avoid this make in the future
Model Rating: 3/10 (lousy)
Worth buying? Skip ...

Cooper Climax T51 - Stirling Moss - 1959 - 1:43 Quartzo
--> Actual car: Giant killer in the hands of Sir Stirling Moss. I am not impressed with Quartzo - looks cheap and flimsy construction -- i will avoid this make in the future. Wheel came off when I tried to spin it
Model Rating: 4/10 (lousy quality)

Ferrari F2002 - Michael Schumacher - 1:18 - Mattel
Dynamite in the hands of Schumi. Pretty decent model - looks like the aero parts are correctly reproduced
Model Rating: 8/10
Worth buying? Worth it for the money - engine and innard are hidden. BBR and others are better detailed but is too expensive
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/9466/DSCN3629.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3629.jpg)

Porsche 917K - 1:18 - Autoart
240 mph down the Mulsanne straight. This model was from the movie "Le Mans" starring steve McQueen
Model Rating: 10/10 - Exceptional detailing - rubber on tyres seem very real
Worth buying? Hell Yeah! My best model

Ford GT - 1:18 - The Beanstalk group
The new supercar. Very cool looking....
Model Rating: 9/10 Very nice overall. Exceptional engine and suspension detailing
Worth buying? Yes

Ferrari Enzo - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Nice car overall.
Model Rating: 9/10 Lights are nicely done. The rear hatch is a bit of pain to close...
Worth buying? Yes. Available in black, red, yellow. Black is the nicest IMHO

Ferrari 360 CS - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Not as smooth looking model as the Enzo. The front hood is a little clumsy. OK otherwise
Model Rating: 8.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. Grey or black is the best. Red is a bit generic... IMHO
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/8162/DSCN3614.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3614.jpg) http://img45.exs.cx/img45/3678/DSCN3615.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3615.jpg)

Lamborghini Murcialago - 1:18 - Maisto
Very nicely done. The only quibble I have is that the cooling vents behind the door doesn't flip open.
Model Rating: 9/10
Worth buying? Yes. Quality better than Hot Wheels. Grey is the best. Black hides too many of the details of the little bat. IMHO
http://img45.exs.cx/img45/1036/DSCN3626.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3626.jpg) http://img45.exs.cx/img45/6200/DSCN3627.th.jpg (http://img45.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img45&image=DSCN3627.jpg)

Ferrari 550 Barchetta - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Interior is a little dull and lights poor compared to the Lambo. Ok overall.
Model Rating: 8.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. All colours suit the Barchetta - flashy model

16. 1:32 Chevron B19 - Can Am - Jody Schecter - GB Track
Model Rating: 8/10
Worth buying? Yes. Nicely detailed for a slot car. But not so nice and shiny that you wouldn't want to take it racing.

That's the Gulf racing livery. I want the Ford GT40 in the same paint scheme and a Ferrari 512M to have a head to head with 917....

Another 917 I like is the Canam version - it was an open wheel spyder with a turbocharged engine capble of putting out 1100hp ...

Mopsdrop - can you pls post pictures of your collection. I'd like to see it very much - particulary the P4 - easily one of the coolest looking race cars ever!

17. 1:32 Mercedes Benz CLK DTM - Bernd Schnieder - 2004 - Scalatrix
Model Rating: 9/10
Worth buying? Yes. Much better details than the Canam car - looks from outside to be diecast quality. Has jewel like headlamps (that actual light up on the circuit), roll-cage, driver, tow bars, spoilers, you name it is awesome...

The quality of scale cars available nowadays are unbelievable.

Three new cars today:

18. 1:43 Mercedes Benz W154 - 1938 - Rudolf Caracciola - Brumm
Model Rating: 3/10 - wheels dont rotate easily, interior is plain
Worth buying? Not really. It is worth saving up for the CMC models of the same car - but that is mucho bucks - $120 or so. I took the cheaper option and regret it.

Auto Union on left and MB on right

19. 1:43 Auto Union Type C - 1936 - Brumm

Worth buying? Not really. It is worth saving up for the CMC models of the same car - but that is mucho bucks - $120 or so. I took the cheaper option and regret it.

20. 1:43 Ferrari 156 - Phil Hill - 1916 - Brumm
Model Rating: 5/10 - wheels dont rotate easily, interior is better than the other two
Worth buying? Yes if you are a fan of old Ferraris. This is the famous sharknose v6 Ferrari with which Phil became the first US F1 champion

Hell dude, your collection is growing quite fast!

These are the ones that I mentioned were on order in my first post - I have 3 more Ferraris coming this weekend and then I will stop 1:43s for sure and stick to a few more slot cars or 1:18s.

The ones I still want are:
Mclaren F1 - road car or LM
Ferrari 330 P4
1:18 Ferrari 512S to complement my Porsche 917

Then I will stop for a long while and let the bank account recuperate :D .

Guess what the postman brought me today minutes after I wrote the above comments...

21. 1:18 Ferrari 250 LM - 1964 - Mattel
Model Rating: 9.5/10 - Excellent detailing. Lot of nice touches like a prop rod to hold the trunk up. exquisite engine detailing. Nearly Perfect IMO ....
Worth buying? Yes definitely

22. 1:18 Ferrari 250 GTO - 1962 - Mattel
Model Rating: 9.5/10 - Excellent detailing. A nice touch includes working catches on the hood that can be slipped to the side to open the engine bay. I like the spare wheel stuffed in the rear. This car in reality is an art sculpture on wheels and one of the automotive icons of the century. I am humbled to own a small of it.
Worth buying? Yes definitely

22. 1:18 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 - 197X - Mattel
Model Rating: 9/10 - Excellent detailing. Proud forebearer to today's 575M. Was the ultimate GT in its time. Model is nicely detailed - engine bay is cool with its carbs highlighted -though it not as exquisite as the LM or GTO.

Worth buying? Yes definitely

I know what you mean - something like yours ... But, I normally don't want more than 1 of each car model. So for now one will do. Unless maybe I find a slot car version of it....

This would be nice too.. A 250 GT SWB - Actually I want the Rob Walker version - silver with a blue stripe

You definately shouldn't stop buying 1:43s... Brumm doesn't have the models that truly represent the 1:43 scale. BTW, who cares whether "wheels dont rotate easily" on a model car? It is supposed to be stationary in the first place.

There are 1:43 GTOs, LMs and Daytonas that easily put the detailing of the 1:18 Mattel models to shame.

I'm sure there are other excellent models of the marvellous Ferrari 156 out there.

Strangely, the better quality models you want, the smaller the scale...

Blame me for introducing Sameer to detailed cars that move.. ;)

I am about to begin selling all my 1:43 scale cars.

The added dimension of being able to see the cars move (as in slot cars) is what I have been looking for over the last 8 years or so.

Stradale ... A question to you.... do the good quality 1:43s have operating doors
and trunk and steering? I am still new to model cars so i dont really know. the only other issue I have with 1:43 is that they are too small for me (after all size does matter  )

Because if it doesnt have these features it is useless to me. I freely admit I like to open it up and admire the details of the cars. I like to see it in motion too with appopriate sounds "wheee ... shift ... whee ..shift ... whee ..." --> thats me supplying the sound by the way.

My current stand on scale cars is either I will get finely detailed cars with operating parts or I get finely detailed slot cars w/o operating doors, etc but the compensation that it drives on a circuit....

That's just what I am thinking too ... it is almost a win-win situation ... the cars are nicely detailed - you can keep them as display items and then when you feel the need you can drive it on the circuit.

And as RC showed me the other day, you can put magnets appropraitely on the car to simulate the cars driving behaviour to a small degree. E.g. for a Canam car make it tail happy (no magnet) or for a AWD car put a magnet up front to have more stable grip...

There are two demerits in my mind 1) Too many details adds to the weight of the car making it slower than the pure racers. But this is OK if you are not intending on seeing it race but just want to see it move under its own power. 2) Too fine a design may make you scared to race it in fear od breaking off a mirror or something.

Nothings perfect ...

So you want an all slot car collection now?

Pretty much.

SOme folks have 1:43 slot cars - and they convert diecasts using the few 1:43 motors chassis and wheels available. I thought about it - and there is 0.1% chance I may go that rought- but, the thought of having to literally hand build each slot car is kind of daunting.

I have yet to see a decent 1:43 slot car with regard to wheel details etc.

There are 11 more nice cars headed my way in the mail. Am eagerly waiting them. Unfortunately as I am infected by the same "reluctance-to-reveal-details" virus that has hit St-Anger, I cannot tell you what cars are coming....

Will be needing to get some shelving - my computer desk is out of space..

Got these over the last two weeks ...

27. 1:18 1998 Ferrari 355 Challenge - Mattel
Model Rating: 9.5/10 - Plasticky rear deck lid. Ferrari of Houston sponsorship is nice. The wheels show evidence of wheel banging during the race. Simulated dirt -raced version. Front hood doesnt open

http://img35.exs.cx/img35/1117/DSCN3802.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3802.jpg) http://img35.exs.cx/img35/4743/DSCN3803.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3803.jpg)

28. 1:18 2001 Ferrari 360 Challenge - Mattel
Model Rating: 9.0/10 - More solid than the F355 Challenge. Ferrari of Houston sponsorship is nice. Simulated dirt - raced version. But the dirt seems a little
unrealistic to me. Nice overall

http://img35.exs.cx/img35/1368/DSCN3805.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3805.jpg) http://img35.exs.cx/img35/3885/DSCN3808.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3808.jpg)

The two together ...
Love the boxes with the simulated corners - like the F12001 box (I think)
http://img35.exs.cx/img35/8458/DSCN3799.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3799.jpg) http://img35.exs.cx/img35/6184/DSCN3809.th.jpg (http://img35.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img35&image=DSCN3809.jpg)

29. 1:18 1988 Ferrari 328 GTB - Kyosho
Model Rating: 10/10 - Excellent detailing. The photo-etched engine is awesome are the pop-up lights ... Very cool and I got it for a reasonable price too - I am over the moon

http://img31.exs.cx/img31/3956/DSCN3810.th.jpg (http://img31.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img31&image=DSCN3810.jpg) http://img31.exs.cx/img31/8922/DSCN3812.th.jpg (http://img31.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img31&image=DSCN3812.jpg)

30. 1:18 1955 Mercedes Benz SLR - Stirling Moss/Denis Jenkinson - Mille Miglia - Maisto
Model Rating: 9.5/10 - A very special car to me. Accurately rendered. I love the details - the steering tube that splits the pedals the removable headrest/aero piece, the canted over straight eight engine, the lights the stickers. This was the first car to record a near 100mph average over the entire race. The fastest ever.

http://img52.exs.cx/img52/3594/DSCN3814.th.jpg (http://img52.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img52&image=DSCN3814.jpg) http://img52.exs.cx/img52/6776/DSCN3816.th.jpg (http://img52.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img52&image=DSCN3816.jpg)

I think someone else here has the Rudolph Ulhenhault's 300 SLR coupe 1:18. This would be a good companion piece to that. :D

31. 1:18 Shelby Cobra 427 - Road Signature
Model Rating: 9/10 - My first and probably only American car .. unless I get a Duesenberg. Nice model with decent interior - the engine could be better detailed though :)
http://img14.exs.cx/img14/5598/DSCN3818.th.jpg (http://img14.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img14&image=DSCN3818.jpg) http://img33.exs.cx/img33/6469/DSCN3819.th.jpg (http://img33.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img33&image=DSCN3819.jpg)

32. 1:18 1993 Mclaren F1 - Maisto
Model Rating: 8/10 - Not as good as I thought. Go for the UT version if you can afford it. Interior OK, Exterior is very ordinary. Disappointed..

1. Williams FW25 - Juan Pablo Montoya - Hot Wheels
2. Renault R23 - Fernando Alonso - Hot Wheels
3. Mclaren MP4-17D - Kimi Raikkonen - Hot Wheels
4. Ferrari F2003-GA - Michael Schumacher - Hot Wheels
5. Ferrari F2002 - Michael Schumacher (not new) - Hot Wheels
6. Lamborghini Gallardo - Maisto

Neck to neck - the F2003-GA does have a longer wheelbase than the F2002 - so that is accurate.

Autozone sells models?

They have entered into a promotion with Mattel to sell 2003 spec F1 cars -I bought all the 4 they had at the store - Ferrari/Shumi, Williams/Monty or RSchumi, Mclaren/Kimi, Renault/Alonso.

I got them for $29 each which is a decent price compared to $40-60 they cost elsewhere.

Not all their outlets stock them ... so call ahead to find out ...

Apart from these cars they have the fast and furious type which I am sure you are not interested in ;)

Been getting a couple of cars over the past couple weeks .... thought I'd post pics of the Italian, F1 and Porsche car collections. The new cars have been indicated below. All are 1:18s

Italian set
The new cars are:
1. HW F40
2. Kyosho 308
3. Autoart Diablo GTR

http://img74.exs.cx/img74/3379/DSCN4201.th.jpg (http://img74.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img74&image=DSCN4201.jpg)

The F1 and P-car set...
The new cars are:
1. Minichamps 1976 McLaren M23 - Jochen Mass
2. Exoto Tyrrell P34 - Patrick Depallier
3. HW Porsche 911 GT3

http://img74.exs.cx/img74/9053/DSCN4208.th.jpg (http://img74.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img74&image=DSCN4208.jpg)

The 917K sure looks nice. Is still my favorite model .. though its status as top dog will be hopefully gone by next week - I am getting a special Ferrari ...

I have posted pics of the 917 earlier.

Here are the ones as requested...

HW F40
--> Was my first car that I bought a poster for years back ...
Pretty nice quality overall. I remember someone pointing out an error with the gear level coming out of the wrong place. But minor details ... worth buying for sure.

http://img24.exs.cx/img24/5339/DSCN4209.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4209.jpg)http://img24.exs.cx/img24/1852/DSCN4211.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4211.jpg)http://img24.exs.cx/img24/8121/DSCN4212.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4212.jpg)

Autoart Lamborghini Diablo GTR

--> typical Autoart excellence in design and execution. The one huge pain in the butt is the doors .. it doesn't open easily .. need to push hard on the tiny door button and yank hard on the door.

http://img24.exs.cx/img24/4448/DSCN4213.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4213.jpg)http://img24.exs.cx/img24/1313/DSCN4214.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4214.jpg)

Exoto Tyrrell P34 ... I dont think anyone else has one so I can take the liberty of posting some pics

---> This is a 6 wheel car that was short lived in F1 before being banned. If I remember this is in the Monaco race config with wet tyres set up.... which is why the downdraft pipes above the carbs have a shield above it to keep the water out. There is another version of the same car with dry weather config but different paint scheme .. I liked this color better so picked this one...

http://img24.exs.cx/img24/8641/DSCN4215.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4215.jpg)

The helmet visor also comes up as has been shown below.... The engine wirings are all nicely detailed along with springs and dampers....

http://img24.exs.cx/img24/8471/DSCN4216.th.jpg (http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=DSCN4216.jpg)

The inboard brakes rotate with the wheels as well... I love Exotos .. this is my first and hopefully not my last

And .... Was on a business trip to Philadelphia this week and picked up two Hot Wheel Ferraris while I was there in a nice mom and pop store....

1. Exoto 1990 Ferrari 641/2 Alain Prost

The seminal F1 car shape. Challenge me with a better looking F1 shape ... it has everything - screaming V12, coke bottle shape, blood red color. Awesome detailing as can be seen from the pictures below:

Exoto 1975 Ferrari 312T - Niki Lauda
The start of the renaissance in the 70s ... brought the WDC to Ferrari after 11 years. Flat 12 and mechanicals carried over for several years ... mirror finish wings

Exoto 1979 Ferrari 312 T4 - Gilles Villeneuve
championship winning car with Jody Schecter ... I got the Villeneuve car because he was a very special person as well as phenomenal driver

From the Lauda car you can see that the wheelbase has visibily grown wider .. the whole car sits lower for better aerodynamics ... the tires have grown a lot in the rear.

LOL! Well I buy almost everything online and so with shipping the way it is I buy 3-4 models at a time - its more economical that way. Thus the posting of a bunch of them at a time.

Well I am always on the lookout for some F1 models and Ferraris (though pretty much exhausted that avenue) ... I have still 5 pending on order - hopefully that should be it ....

Except for the Exotos the rest of the models are around $25-30 so not stratospheric prices ... thank god for that! ...

It helps in not looking at the details of the credit card bill though  ....

I bought my three F1 Exotos from them along with the Senna Lotus. Cool site ... Craig and Ron are great guys.... I got pretty much all the Ferrari 1:18s that they have... not into 1:43s myself ...

Thanks guys for your nice comments .... Its makes this obsession of mine seem worthwhile :D

The 288 GTO really made my day. I could not find it in US so I got it from Italy (www.warmup.it/store/models.html). I think it is available on ebay though ... but not that cheap.

As for the 348 its decent from outside but from inside it is poor to average. I dont think HW made a 348 though .... I would have snapped it up instead of Burago anyday.

I am not sure why the 348 did not get adequate attention from HW. However this mirrors reality - wrt the real cars buyers go for the 308/328 or 355/360 .. there isnt much demand for the 348 . Middle brother syndrome? Maybe ....

It is a (1:32) Fly Ferrari 512S Le Mans Car - which battled along with the Porsche 917s in the 70s. Love the Engine/driver details and Paint finish. Almost too beautiful to race :)

The best looking sports prototype cars IMO along with the 330 P4 and Rothmans 956....

Wow man thats a great collection mate!

what do you think of the hotwheel quality? are they any good detail wise also?

I think Hotwheels is pretty good considering the price - most of their models can be bought for $20-30. But the Kyosho and Autoart models are noticeably better in quality but cost about double.

If you are Ferrari fan you are pretty much stuck with Hotwheels for the most part and Kyosho for about 4 models.

For other car makes, go for Autoart if you can.

From a detail perspective, HW render the exterior pretty well but they lose out on the wheels (too shiny!) and interior finish(wrong gear stick locations, poor detailing!). Also the engine is not photo-etched so it is not as good as Kyosho or anyone else.

The best Hotwheels I have are:
- Ferrari F40
- Ferrari 288 GTO
- Ferrari 250 LM
- Ferrari Enzo
- Ferrari 166MM
- Ferrari F1 cars

I would say between USD$30-50.

I am not sure about Oz$ but I would say pricewise it will be between hotwheels and Kyosho for 1:18.

was gonna say that the Lambo was too nice to be a slot car... then I saw the AutoArt name writen above it, jejeje... that explains it all!!!
Yeah Autoart makes good looking slot cars but Fly and Scaletrix are very nice too. The slot cars have been prettied up over the last couple years to attract diecast collectors (like me)

1. Porsche 1987 962C - Repsol livery by Slot-it
2. Shelby Cobra Daytona by monogram

Its been a month since I last added on to my collection. I thought it was time to add one or two cars to my collection ... but this time I went really bonkers - I bought a lot of them.

This is my first real serious foray into 1:43 scale. I had a few earlier when I first got started collecting but then I focussed on 1:18 and 1:32. The problem was that there were a couple of Ferraris I wanted that seemed to be only available in 1:43 or were exorbitantly expensive in bigger sizes.

So I bought 13 models:!: :( :D

I rationalized this (don't we all try to do this with our addictions :) ) by saying that this a Christmas gift and New Years gift and birthday gift (coming in a few days) all rolled in one. The pain in the wallet sort of ebbed away but not completely.

I opened one box and pulled out 5 models - the rest will be opened on Christmas Day and on New Years (which also happens to be my b'day)

Nice new cars you have there, Sameer.

I must admit there seems to be a lot more choice in 1:43, although my collection is a mere 5 1:18 cars so far - I havent yet purchased 1:43.

I noticed in 1:43 a lot of older cars like the mk1 fiesta and mk1 escort that you cant find in 1:18. Wierd cars to want in your collection maybe, but I'm nostalgic!

Yeah ... I was in your neighborhood with my real estate agent looking for a house to buy and after seeing some shitty houses, I broke off and hit the slot place before returning home.

I get mad when people claim to have wood flooring and tile when there is like 2 sq ft of wood. Fucking liars!

I think I might be headed to the Woodlands and some other parts of the N-NW tomorrow for more house hunting.

They have a nice, black 575 GTC. I think they might have a red also.

There was another guy at HRRC with a Silver Z06 with some Nitto tires - do you now him?

Their agents help them "decribe" their home.. see I tell epople marketing is all bullshit - but no, they won't believe me.. ;)

The Woodlands is great - but be aware that commute is getting to be a killer - worse than 290 - much like I10.. you might want to do a simulated commute at 7am and at 5pm onceyou find a place and are about to commit to buy it.

Yeah Russ is gettng me the red 575 and the GT3 RS and the Jabba Lambo.

That is Robs car... has about 450rwhp..(510bhp) and will run and gun with (maybe even beat) a stock C6 Z06).

Sorry for the "Lost in translation" bit - I mean't that I saw some shitty houses today - the area is nice though. :)

I wish I can find something near 290 - Stonegate or so.

As most of my work is outside Houston - the commute shouldnt be too much of a factor - I really like the wooded surroundings - very picturesque and unlike the Galleria area wher I live now.

^^^ That isnt likely to happen. The market for these old cars are really small. Pretty much 90%+ of 1:18 Ferrari scale model collectors are into the newer cars. The 43 scale seems to be for the die-hard collectors.

However some of these oldies can be found in 1:18 made by custom builders in Italy - costs $$$. Not in my price range for sure.

The Scuderia Rao has a new home ... just got the bookcases assembled and finally got the cars out of its boxes ...

Bookshelf #1: The Racing shelf
F1 cars on top 7 shalves and then the GT start.

There are 2 special cars coming in here and have been alloted the empty spots in row 5 with the other Exotos.

Bookshelf #2: The Road car shelf
A few GT cars sneaked in though and some mags...

I need to buy glass doors for thesesometime in the future though I admit I am not too bothered about dust. I clean the cars once a year or when all I am seeing is dust and not the car

Okay ... these are the cars that re-introduced me to the addiction. Specifically, I would like to thank Momodels (may your soul rot in hell ;)) for his pictures of the 250F. This made it a must-have for me and then when I started rationalizing when I buy this car why not get this also and before you know it these buggers arrived at my doorstep today...

A long overdue update - it has been about 5 months since my last purchase .. I saw a sale going on and picked up these beauties ...

1/43 Minichamps MP14/4 Mika Hakkinen
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4598/dsc7509hs2.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc7509hs2.jpg)http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7827/dsc7504gb1.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc7504gb1.jpg)
--> the funny thing is that the rear wing says David but the helmet is Mika's :)

1/43 Art Model Ferrari 206 SP
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/1281/dsc7496sy5.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc7496sy5.jpg)
Funny diorama set. The guy in white is the driver and the two guys in brown are mechanics. This is a pit stop scenario being enacted. One of the mechanics seems to be wiping the windscreen industriously while the other dude seems to be hunting for the fuel filler cap. The driver is angrily gesticulating to the fuelie "Yo Pazzo .. the fuel tank is in the rear not in the front." I am pretty sure Ross Brawn wouldnt have stood for this incompetence. :)

1/43 Art Model 1954 Ferrari 340 Mexico - driven by Phil Hill in the 1954 Beunos Aires 1000km
--> Pretty ugly for sure. But it was driven by America's first world champ. The 340 Mexico spider is much better looking. :)
