Do you think Formula should add more american tracks to their season? if so which ones.

Personally i think Leguna Seca would be really nice to see some F1 cars go down. That corkscrew would definately liven up the race.

USA has a lot of great tracks. Not enough fingers to list them all. Laguna Seca would be great. Road America would be awesome!

There just isnt enough interest among Americans I guess. From what I've heard(dont know if its true) a lot of Canadians make up the crowd at Indy when F1 holds a race there.

To this day I dont understand why they use Indy though. That track is pathetic and boring as hell. No elevation changes, lame corners......US has a 1000 better tracks then that Indy track.

There are a lot. What I was told is that none of them meet F1's standards. look at where they race, new tracks with super smooth surfaces.

You have to look at it from their point of view.

1. Keep Nascar coverage and make millions off of it
2. Take a risk and show F1 and potentially lose millions

Whether people like it or not, Nascar is a marketing juggernaut that makes hundreds of millions a year.

The only thing you can do is start emailing the major broadcast stations and beg them for it. Of course, you'll need a shitpile of people to do it along with you to get any results.

I would love to see F1 at limerock- which is about as safe as nordscleife, and barely has the facilities to handle american lemans. I would not like to see another street circuit, if the issue is a track near NYC go back to watkins glen that is the most realistic solution.

i agree, the old nordschleife maybe the best and most famous race track on the world. but it isn't the safest. it's changes elevation and direction too fast and too many time that it would make driving a new F1 car there. the new nurburgring of course, was design to replace the old one becuz of these issue.

In terms of another US race, they were talking about maybe in Long Beach again. That would be pretty cool. The street circuit there is always nice.

That TV package was a joke. They races were tape delayed and the coverage was horrible. Bernie needs to get F1 off SPEED and onto basic cable. I don't think that the networks will ever cater to the F1 fans needs, because there aren't enough of us.

There was a race in Dallas, TX a while back...I have no idea when it was but I think it would be cool if they had it here again since I live in the area... :D

I think once people saw how much faster the F1 cars are compared with Nascar and how much more skilled the drivers are...then they would watch F1 instead..which would take some time but I think that there would be plenty of immediate intrest if they had more races here in the U.S.

Least could give it a shot. F1 needs more road courses, and a road course in new york sounds pretty damn exciting. And who knows, maybe in a big city like that, it would start more enthusists of F1 like NBC studios there or CBS studios. I would definitely want to see a New York GP. At least they can't crash into the twin towers (too soon? :? ).

Plus it really makes high demands to the driver, which perhaps could make the smaller teams a little more competitive.

Ohh and how much will it cost to shut down a part of New York for 4 days? Obviously a race in New York would have to be in Towns Square. It has to be in downtown...That will costs millions to the city. And I dont think they can make the money back off the race.

well, they would have to completely redo the streets so the cars wouldnt bottom out and the track temp would be correct for the race and things along those lines which would cause a huge mess months before the race even started...

I figured out when F1 came to Dallas, TX..just in case anyone was wondering..lol

It was in 1984, and it was held downtown, the drivers almost boycotted the race hours before the start because the track was literally tearing apart because of the excessive heat (It gets VERY hot here during the summer 8) )

F1 in the US... well the problem is that people in the US love their coockie cutter NASCAR..
F1 would need to make itself a better show if it wishes to bring in the crowds for a second event.. but i really doubt that they are going to change the rules and come up with a standard that will actually allow passing. Until this happens the crowds for the race will get smaller and smaller till it levels out.

As for where... Elkart Lake... that is the only track that could really let and F1 car show its stuff...

The USA has great permanent tracks, and urban tracks as well, and the quality of them, the safety measures to fulfill a formula 1 race.....arent a problem as far as i know...the problem comes from other sides, once the FIA and both, the IRL and the IndyCar championship federations are hard rivals of the FIA....in my opinion the problem of not holding a Formula 1 in the USA is a political reason

For instance there have been in the history of the formula 1 some american superb racetracks that has held the formula 1 races in history......for instance, the USA grand prix in 1990 was held in Phoenix, and the success of the event on that racetrack was brilliant

There's more to it than that. Making the Nordschleife safe for modern F1 would cost a huge amount of money and while making that they would just ruin the legendary track. The track is great for the elevation changes, off-camber turns and stuff like that. For F1 to race there they would have to get rid of all that. Then the TV coverage. They would need hundreds of cameras to cover the whole track and that would just cost too much. And the local spectators would see their favourite driver go past them at every six minutes. It just wouldn't be a good thing for anyone to take the nordschleife back.

As for the New York GP, it's a very interesting idea and I hope they will work it out. Although I doubt it'll ever happen.

This is why I lost interest in Formula 1 years ago.

It is in essence a video game series.

The cars are so fast and the top teams/drivers so wealthy and influential and income driven that the sport has become clinical to the point of billiard smooth race tracks, computer designed curves and a NASCAR like procession with right turns.

I simply peruse the results of the day and don't even bother watching the race as it is about as exiting as playing a Sports Manager Simulation game.

The tracks should go back to being the rough bumpy challenging circuits of the late 70's earl '80's.

This alone would regulate the speed of the cars way better than silly tyre width/tread rules or wing templates and bans on technology.

Just imagine how far developed suspension systems would be if the North Loop was still one of the tracks on the calendar.

Active suspension, traction control and steering/braking assist may have developed along with tyre technology - to the point where a car lapping the 'Ring in 5 minutes would be a reality.

Currently the sport has stalled at a point where the cars and drivers can dash around perfectly smooth circuits with nothing more than curb stones and slow traffic as obstacles and pit stops and mechanical break downs (oh and Ferrari biased racing stewards.. ;) ) as the few unpredictable variables.

Imagine if Sports Prototype racing had got mired down in the politics that tarnished F1 over the decades... Le Man would be run with minivans on treaded card board tyres with only 2 pit stops and 25 gallons of ags allowed - and each driver would have to have a booster seat and a sleeping buddy :P

In summation, I say letting the F1 circus loose on another couple of US tracks will do motor racing in general a lot of good.

The marketing juggernaut that is NASCAR is because there is a lot more to NASCAR than just the race day - and once F1 gets abetter chance to show their wares correctly market the "experience" to more people, the influx of money on the NASCAR scale would have Max taking his job back and Bernie getting all orgasmic at the prospect of yet more money.. :P

you have a good point but the fact is simple the teams wouldn't want to slow down the cars, the neither would the drivers they live for speed, so if you but a speed freak out on a track he would want to go fast, and i for one don't want to loose onther Gilles, Senna, Clark.... the list goes on, some races are just un safe,

Most Amaricans watch racing for its huge crashes like in 70% of the NASCAR fans out there, if you put f1 cars on un safe tracks then i think alot of NASCAR fans would move to f1 just to see who would die in the next racing weekend,

Let the old tracks live as legends, and the new ones build their own!

I dont think that that would be the best idea in the world, with all the bs of national security, they are already making it hard enough to see the American Grand Prix at Indianapolis. I was there this year and saw Michael tear up the track. I had to leave so much stuff at the security check point because i could injure someone with it. And one was my key ring, that was retarded. New York would never be able to handle a race, and if they did, no one would want to go through security
