Hopefully not a re-post since I already did one today.
I found this thread going on:
http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=197942
It's about a video with a bike vs F1 car. The guys on the board are talking about whether it was really an F1 car or not, etc. with some believing a bike is faster, while others are saying no way.
Direct video here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/graham.sykes80/getaway_moto_contre_F1.asf
There's too much unsaid about the video...what were the circumstances, what was the bike, what was the car, etc.?
My opinion (like it makes a difference): Against a true F1 car and driver going for lap times, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell a bike could even run with it, let alone beat it. No friggin' way.

The fastest bikes in the world are moto GP bikes and they lap 10 - 20 seconds slower than F1 cars

I remember researching F1 cars v/s F1 bikes or World Superbikes some years ago.
I dont think there was single track where both raced that the F1 cars were ever slower....
I think in power to weight both are very similar - its just a case of more mechanical (4 wheels v/s 2) and aero grip that gives F1 the edge.
After seeing the vid, it was obvious to me that the car slowed down to let the bike pass. It looked like a 2000 edition Williams BMW.

Thats simply crazy and amazing... That looks to me like some sort of standard R6, nothing too special. I would love some extra info though as i really dont know anything about the two...

There is somewhere a video of a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 against a Yamaha R1, that is one of the fastest bikes in a track that you can buy. And the Porsche Won the race against the R1... so, no way for it against an F1!!!

the bike may be as fast or even faster than an f1 car on the straight, but no bike can ever match the braking ability and cornering speed of the f1 cars. and this makes an f1 car much much quicker on a single lap as compared to a bike. as mindgam3 said, in the same tracks that f1 and motogp run, the f1 cars are indeed 10 - 20 secs. quicker per lap.
It can be easily compares, we can go a get some lap times from tracks like Suzuka, Barcelona and Sepang, and we can compare three different tracks and we can conclud which is faster. However, I do believe that in some track a MotoGP Bike is faster than a F1.

ok here are the lap records:
Catalunya:
Motogp - 1:43.927 (Rossi)
F1 - 1:17.450 (M. Schumacher)
Sepang:
Motogp - 2:04.376 (Barros)
F1 - 1:34.223 (Montoya)
Suzuka:
Motogp - 2:04.226 (Rossi)
F1 - 1:33.408 (M. Schumacher)
i guess that sums it up.

One word: Downforce.

Its more than just downforce.
An F1 car has at least twice as much rubber on the road, and that isn't taking into account the curved bike tire and the flat F1 tyre. I'd guess the F1 car probably has more like 8 or 10 times as much contact with the road.
Where the bike might win in the power/weight stakes, and thus gain on the straights, the lack of rubber on the road, and the lack of downforce means that its braking performance and cornering performance will be significantly less.
However, the bike is a lot narrower than the F1 car, so it can take a different line through corners and straighten them out a lot more. For example, I'm guessing the bike would be quicker through more sweeping corners and also through chicanes.
Another advantage the F1 car has is it can ride the curbs. Its a bit dangerous for motorcycles to really mount the curbs they way a car does, so the F1 car can in fact take a tighter line through some corners.
All this is just theories though. Look at the lap times posted above. F1 is clearly faster.

hey i have an idea... how about the f1 media section :D

Plus bikes are naturally unstable and aerodynamically inefficient

30secs a lap faster not 10
Bike would have the advantage that use could remove the stickers and it would blend in with traffic... An F1 car would have certain troubles with most streets let alone traffic(well around here anyway). Still Id kill to have a drive in an F1 car

i read before, or heard there was video of rossi vs ferrari f1 in a straight line.. the f1 lost to the superbike
so is really amazing
Wow, that is quite a difference!!!!
The F1 car has 4 wheels wereas the bike only has to so theres more grip for the car giving it better braking and cornering speed
I can remember watching jeremy clarson race a top class road bike which cud do 0-60 in 3.5 vs a porsche 911 C2 an the car won by a second

A bike can do no better grip than a 911 Carrera 4 in the corner and under braking, but a F1 can easily pull -5g braking and over 5g cornering, no hope for biker at all unless I'm behind the wheel of a F1 car!

I think you read/heard wrong, as F1 cars can do 360~km/h at the end of monza straight and I know if they had more road they could hit about 450km/h.

The only advantage the bike has is the smaller frontal section. In a quarter mile competition, maybe the motorcycle can win. In any circuit, curve speed will make the difference. Remove the front and back wings (like old time F1 cars or some monoposts with only front wings) and we can see real competition here.

a bike is not faster then an F1 car in long sweeping corners cause itsm ore narrow lol, thats prob one of the type of corners and F1 car would kill it the most long high speed turns and quick direction changes
