I dunno, thats hard...the Tuscan T440R is THE most amazing sounding car ever. However, I loovee the sound of the Diablo 6.0, as well as the Saleen S351

I agree the ferrari sounds good! but i aint seen one reving its engine in real life :( , only on vids, but i heard the deep throaty scream of a TVR..... Dammm!!!

cho_888
07-17-2004, 08:52 PM
oh nice one TT i forgot about the M3 that has an unreal sound. I also dont mind the enzo, it has a low down rumble but when its reved it screems like an f1 car

Ive never been fortunate enough to hear how a TVR sounds, does anyone have any sound or video clips for comparison? I am personally a ferrari V8 guy like many here... The sound of it when my neighbor passes by on saturday morning is breathtaking!

i have seen a few times a yellow TVR cerbera goin around here.everytime i take the camera out i never see it.when im driving it goes the other way lol but even just driving at 30mph passed me i can feel the rumble through my car.they are surely a nice sound and loud which is awesome.but come on a ferrari engine is just delicous.

i like the sound of a Bugatti Veyron, sounds like it has a V8 and a jet engine in it.

Daggernite
07-17-2004, 09:05 PM
I agree gis the Ferrari V8 is a brilliant sounding engine. Actually... what would win in a race?? A Tuscan or a 360CS ??? It would be close either way 8)

gis
07-17-2004, 09:25 PM
it would be close in a straight line, but around a twisty road or a track i thinkt he 360CS would have the edge.but still be pretty dam close

5.7 V10
07-17-2004, 09:28 PM
Well it's all down to opinion. I love TVR's, they sound great. But i prefer the sound of a Zonda or Carrera GT.

I LOVE the sound of TVR's...

I know I'm in the minority here when I say I would seriously take a TVR over a Ferrari (sorry Tiff  ).

p.s

TVR Tuscan/Speed 6 would be fine.

1971 365 GTB4 Daytona...or perhaps the Vanquish/DB7 Vantage/DB9 ?

I love TVR, they sound like nothing else, ferrari have a different sound, which I simply cannot get enough of.

May I introduce the Merc SLR?? Sounds like a bloody spitfire!!

my vote goes to the CGT and the DB9 baby!

TVR's do sound fantastic, but if you put say a tuscan next to a 360 or 360CS and dragged them, I think you'd be saying 360 everytime. I've heard them go one after another and the ferrari you just cannot beat. On its own the TVR sounds like it cannot be beaten in terms of sound but in comparison with a 360 there is no competition.

Although as sam said, all these opinions are in the Best sounding road car thread

ionite
07-18-2004, 08:52 AM
ok ok . Every car has its own unique sound. i respect that but , the TVR is ENTIRELY hand made , and the only reason it may loose round a track is because it has no electronic computers driving the car for you , it is a drivers car, a pure car, its what cars should be, whats the point of driving if the computers doit for you, it takes the fun outta it and becomes dull.....

ionite
07-18-2004, 08:57 AM
Thats also the reason i respect the impreza over the evo, impreza keeps up with the evo without any driving aids where as it seems the evo needs it to keep up...

I have to say the speed six engines in the tamora, tuscan, T350 sound great but nothing can beat the sound of the DB9's V12

I dig the wierd sounds from the McLaren Mercedes SLR...but if I could bottle a sound and sell it...it would be Ferrari's, without a doubt.

RC45
07-27-2004, 01:32 PM
Well - I am guessing that "cha-ching" is a better sound (to the previous TVR owners at least ;)) than the sound any TVR engine could produce... :P

Wooo-hoooo - ugly capitalisnm rules again.. ;)

Looks like you all never heard a flat 12 Ferrari. If you ever get to hear a testarossa a 512TR or M with a Tubi your jaw will drop down to the floor, you'll get goose bumps on your chest and you'll start moaning from the orgasmic waves that that exhaust give you.

A great many car testers have said the Aston Martin Vanquish (and now the DB9) has the best engine sound they've ever heard. Got some sound clips if you want, but i dunno how to upload...if you tell me i will.

Porsche 911!! I realy like the sound from the flat 6, but I have to agree on the SL 55. It sounds brutal. I heard a couple of TVR's while I was in London a couple of month's ago. Have to admit they sound like the devil on heat!!!!!!!!!!

hrm... TVRs sound great, but, to me, many other cars sound better. The Zonda, SL55, SLR, Vanqish, and many others. I like the sound of a 360, but I perfer a lower revving engine that doesn't scream in my face.

09-12-2004, 05:48 PM
you guys have never a bmw 745 without its exhaust have you?

i'm waitin on an excuse to pull the exhaust on a 760 next.

i would have to say the flat 12 of a testerossa sounds pretty sexy though, bu my ultimate love is the sound of a 426hemi :fist:

Here are some vids and sound files of TVR's

I saw Chmaera or Griffith passing me by when I was in London and I felt the sound in my entrails(stomack) just like standing 3 meters from the stage on the concert of Napalm Death by those HUGE speakers

Haven't heard a TVR personally, but can't imagine it being anymore awesome than a 550 Maranello with a Tubi, which I have heard and from 2 cars behind, it raised my hair like no other car. Except maybe some American V8's.

Best car I've heard on the Net: Carrera GT. "Sounds like a Formula One car" is something of a cliche, but in this case it's so true.
For induction noises, I can't think of anything that beats a Colombo V12 with 6 downdraft Webers.

There are a lot of cars which sound better than the TVRs IMO im afraid, strarting from the legendary cars such as the renault 5 Turbo 2, any grN exhaust escort cosworth, lancia delta integrale, any grA historic car such as the integrale, the sierra and escort, the E30 M3, the ferrari 355, the 360, the enzo, the F40.............

no WAY.....the Chimera's note is NOTHING compared to the Speed 12's engine noise....but I still perfer the E55's and the SL55's note...next is the Speed 12

dude...the dodge charger is a cool car....but compared to the TVR speed 12? no fight....the speed 12 has 900 or more horses and 650+ Ft/lbs of pure torque....yes it is naturally aspirated....so nothing except an F1 engine beats it in terms of power or those nitro funny cars

is there? well not better, i would say an american V8, from chevy, ford or mopar, they're all sound just as good as a TVR.

AMEN.

indeed, the 3 mentioned above are better sounding cars.

The TVR straight six definately comes in the top 10 though.

The earlier V8's, and american muscle V8's dont sound as good in my opinion.
