While auto racing is a huge international sports with many different organizations..team sports are quite different in Europe and America. I know Europe is obviously a huge place for soccer, as we call it here in the USA, or Football in Europe...
I obviously love baseball as you can tell from my username, but I was wondering if there is anyone who plays baseball or American football or even basketball in Europe.. or if anyone over there pays any attention to American sports...
Well, even here there is ppl playing American football, but very rare... rugby is more common I'd say, but still bloody rare :D baseball, you always do it indoor at school, but a profesionall level, never heard, as for Basketball, yes it's quite common and there are also some good teams in Europe (good if we don't consider the dream team) :D I played Basket myself for a couple of years in a local team, but team sports aren't really my stuff and always preferred tennis :D

Well I'm not in Europe but I thought I might aswell tell you how it is in Oz. The American sports aren't as popular as local ones such as Aussie Rules footy, cricket and rugby and even soccer. Personally I prefer the US sports, I'm also a big baseball fan and follow the NBA and NHL. The problem is those sports aren't covered on free-to-air TV and therefore don't get the exposure they should. I haved played basketball since I was about 12 and there is american football and baseball leagues that people play in.

how do you guys get excitement out of watching NFL or baseball? like NFL, it just doesn't have any continuity to it. play for 10seconds and stop for 10 minutes. i find baseball is just like cricket. thats why i like watching rugby, its got a flow to it. also i think its the only sport where australia has level competition. football i find occasionally interesting like the world cup or euro championships.
NHL we have absoulutely no exposure like dingo said
WE used to have NBA on free to air tv, don't know what happened to it. basketball is still very popular over here

I think the battle is between American Football and baseball, against European Soccer and tennis, well I dont remember what are the hard core sports of europe, but common we know soccer is the best sport in the world!
Football seasons almost here guys. Thats only good thing about Baseball, it leads into Football. College Football > Basketball.

well here in the philippines, the biggest spectator sport is basketball. we probably are the most basketball crazy nation here in asia. i really enjoy watching soccer too (epl, primera liga), but i'm afraid that it only has quite a few following here.

I work with a few Filipinos and this one guy is absolutely basketball crazy, plays it whenever he gets a chance. He was telling me about it being THE sport there and that you have your own type of NBA.

Back in Ukraine its all soccer. Soccer is like a religion back there. Then it is basketball which is quite popular. These are the two sports that you can see being played on daily bases in every park or court. Then it would be tennis.
Baseball...everybody knows of baseball, but no one ever plays it, or knows how to.
Football no one plays either. Know of it, know nothing about it.
I think the real international sport is jerking off though  You know Im right. :D

We have a european "NFL" league and baseball, american football have small leagues over here in the uk but hardly anyone plays it. Ice hockey is slightly more common and there is a fairly big uk league and some of the games are shown on satellite. Basketball is a lot more common over here and is played in schools just as much as cricket which is one of our national sports. Although cricket gets a lot more tv coverage and has a greater following, about the same as rugby and both have get played much more in local leagues etc. FOOTBALL is our main sport though ;)
