Ralf Shumacher thoughts

In a recent interview Ralf said that the reason for going to Toyota was the future.
These are his words:
"I've chosen the future," he said. "I know you can't buy success and I also know that Toyota cannot become an overnight success but I can promise I will put all my energy and patience into what they ask of me."
"When I think I'm going to be at the heart of Toyota's long term project for the world title I start to have stomach cramps."
Is he thinking of doing the same as his brother when he moved from Benetton to Ferrari??
Is he thinking of saving the £300 million budget from collapse??
Sure he’s a good driver but surely not a MS.

What do u guys think??

i think it's just that his relationship with the williams team has soured and that toyota has offered him a better compensation package.

Saving toyota from what? The way i see it, they can only go up, with or without Ralf.

ralf will bring them closer to front row and podium, right away as he is better than da matta by far and somewhat better than panis, but toyota as a team needs to develop a better chassis in order for ralf to stand on the podium in next few years, which will be unlikely as mclaren, renault and BAR are already there and improving/gaining on ferrari each year ... he will make toyota better right away, but championships may not be in his future

Your right there, the might be 2 Schumachers but there's only 1 Micheal Schumacher, however I think that Toyota will do good in the future, but not all thanks to Ralf :)

I think that Ralf Schumacher is a very good driver although he is not getting the best seasons in both, this season and the previous season, but i think that the team is going to be improved quite a lot due to the new staff, the new way of investment/organisation, and due to Ralf Schumacher(once i think as well that Ralf is quite faster than Da Matta or Olivier Panis), but for me, to be honest, Toyota is going to get a similar livel in terms of performances to Honda, Toyota, McLaren, Williams, at most.

I think Ralf is a better car developer than Montoya. He is certainly not in the same league as his brother - but he is really good in this area.

Peter Windor describes Ralf's driving style to be similar to Michael and DC in that they all make most of their speed going into corners - by turning in early. What Ralf does is that he begins the turn earlier than say a Villeneuve or Montoya and starts applying the brakes while turning. His extra speed is due to a more economical use of the corner. Now for this style to work all three need a car with minimal understeer and perhaps mild overteer to help rotate the car towards the exit of the corner.

Why the above description? It just highlights the criticality of set-up for these three drivers. Ralf's input is certainly being missed at the races - note the persistant comments from Frank Williams and Montoya that they are missing his inputs.

Ralf's driving this year hasn't been a credit to him at all. I think it is best he takes along break, rests up and comes back fresh and hungry. I would love to see the Ralf of 1999 and 2000 re-emerge - he was something special then.

I thin that it is very important what he said about making toyota an overnight succesful would not be done, I l9iked what he said about making al his effort, he will be succesful with that mind!!

Ralf going to Toyota isn't whats going to save them and i think both Toyota and Ralf know that. But it is one of the key factors into leading Toyota to a new start and hopefully a much better :)... I would love to see Toyota and the less successful companies to put out some competition out there. MS needs it and the sport needs it to provide more of a thrill for even the better drives. JPM, MS and RB challenges arent enough. This sport should be a Free-For-All!

To be fair, MS brought afew of the techies with him to Ferrari, this isnt the case with Ralf, soo it be maybe a year or 2 b4 things really things start rolling(but thats wat i thought about BAR at the start of season haha).
