My Computer turns off!!! help

hey,
i just bought counter strike so i formatted my comp so it work s better and everything was perfect, but whan i started playin about 10 mins the computer just suddely turns off! and when im not platin nothing happens, its weird, i alreasgy checked the power options and no its not that, so can someone help me cause its frustrating tryin to play and having to turn on the compuper every couple od mins, and also sometomes it lasts longer than other times.. so i dont know, i need some help!

well it could be that something is overheating from working too hard in the computer and it shuts down just to be safe.

Check for any unfamiliar processes running in Task Manager... identify the proggie and destroy it :twisted:

T- it may b that but i dont think so and if it is that what can i do to stop it?, and it didnt haoppen when i had CS b4...
and #1- most of the stuff sunning in the task manager is unfamiliar...

you can try to kill process' like #1 said to try to free up some proccessing power and to most people those programs are unfamiliar go to this site they will tell you what they all are: http://www.blackviper.com/
You can try to start upgrading stuff unless it's more than adequate. You can try to turn up the fan speeds to help if that is the case or maybe you have corrupt memory sometimes that can happen, and that you can't fix just replace it.

I am not familiar with any of the either... i wasn't sure if you were very clued up about PCs.

My suggestion :arrow: Wait for a geek to show up... like Thamar, RC45 etc. :wink: (Joking - you guys know way more than i could ever learn, and you come in handy sometimes :D )

well procesing speed is good, on normal us ei have like 15 or 20 % using, and memory too normal like 150-200 mb ram out of 512, but ill check that page out to see if i see something, but whats worrie sme is that we'r not sure thats the problem...
this hasn't happened to me b4 and i havent heard of no one with this prob either so i dont know what do do...

haha i just copy pasted the info cause i dont know what exatly u want, and what do u mean by the wattage?, and no i havent added on any hardware of any kind...(if u mean like xtra memory and all that) we can say the comp is "Stok" right now cause i formatted it like a week ago

^^ The wattage is the power supplied by the PSU (power supply unit)... should be near the power cable on the back of your PC :D

Is the PC in a reasonably well-ventilated area? Generally you don't want anything within about a foot of the back of the machine..

If the machine's been completely unmodified, I'd suggest taking it back to whomever sold it to you, and saying "It dies under load."

yes it the laptop, and next to the power adapter it says 19.5 v., dont know it that helps...
and yes after formatting it it told me all these updates i had to do and they were lots and i did them all(whats the SP1?), and well i havent updated anyting in the drivers, all i have is all the CD had, but the videocard seems to work fine cause the grafics r good and everything...
and no its not extremely hot here, specially inside the house, with the AC its nice and cool.
and yes its in a very good ventilated area, it has nothing around itor close it for more than a foot so i dont think that should b the problem,and if i cant do anything about this prob. then i think ill have to tell circuit city, but thats my last resorce.

it just shuts down, im playin and right b4 it turns off the audio and video freezes and like 1 second after that the lap just turns off, no windos is shutting of or anything just freezes for 1 sec then as if u disconected the power, but it all works normally, just that problem of the shutting off

i doubt its a heat issue because i dont think the p4 would shutdown like that if it overheats. toms hardware did a test to see what happens it the heat sync is removed and it just slowed down to nothingness.

oscar...I had this issue with my pc...desktop though...it turned out to be temps inside the case...I just changed a fan and it's all good now...I don't know jack about notebooks, so I can't really help...but I do recomend http://www.computing.net to solve pc problems...every problem I've had there's been a solution on that site...if someone hasn't already asked about the same problem, just ask, people will answer quickly...good luck!

i got the problem fixed!! i went to that computing.net and a guy told me to change the grafic mode of the CS and it worked!!
