Once the BMW M3 E-30 was a very tricky car to drive in any rallying challenge due to the rear wheel drive setting, this car had to compete many times against the 4 wheel drive cars on tarmac(for me this is a big achievement, because although the rear wheel drive car is lighter, a 4 wheel drive car is much more efficient, much easier to drive) and sometimes a rear wheel drive car has been able to get ahead of a 4 wheel drive car thanks to the rear wheel drivers ability...
Using this topic, id like to get the opinion of the members in terms of which driver has been for you the best driver ever in a E-30 M3 in rallying....no matter if the cathegory of the rally is national, european, a world championship event.......
For me the best ever driver in a M3 has been Bernard Beguin....for me he was a crack no matter what he drove...a M3, a M1, a porsche 911, a Escort Cosworth...the most evident fact is when we won the Tour de Corse World Rally race in 1987 against all the Lancia work team, and against the whole Renault team as well, and against some local private drivers in some Ford Sierra Cosworth as well
Followed by François Chatriot....who years later was capable of running just behind the well founded and efficient Lancia team
