F1 tech question

What are the metal strips that the car runs over in the pit box.I do not have any pics so i hope u know what i am thaking about

Off the cuff, I think they are grounding strips to prevent a short circuit occurring during the pitsopt - potential fire hazard.

That was exacty wat i was thinking but i was not sure.They never talk about them during the race or anything like that.

yup they are anti-static strips to prevent sparks from happening during pit stops.

The only good thing about the Speed Channel broadcast here in the US is Steve Matchett who serves as the technical commentator. He is incredibly knowledgeable having been the Chief Mechanic for Benetton and been the business for many years. I respect him for his technical input as much as Martin Brundle for his racing input..

I LOVE watching the races on SPEED.I cant stand watching the Canadian GP cuz we dont get it on speed due to leagal things.I dont remember the names of the comentators but they are STUPID!.It them five minutes to see that montoyas right rear view mirror was broken in lst years race.Also the things thay say are so obvious.I am fifteen and i know 80% of the shit thay are talking about already.

David Hobbs is too out of date - he was an F1 driver in the 60s. He really cant grasp what it means to drive todays cars like someone like Martin Brundle.

Bob Varsha is basically a gossip columnist - he is a rumour maniac and has an eye for the ladies (sole good point).

Steve Matchett however is a gem.

i hate martin Brundle, he thinks he was a god in f1, he talks like he knows what shumi is thinking, and as if he is on the same level as him,

Murray walker was the best, i just loved his high pitch voice, it went in-sync with the sound of the cars :D

I agree that Martin always likes to bring up "when I was racing with Senna in F3 ...." into his discussions. He is quite full of himself. But the point I was getting was that he seems to really spot out whats happening with the car as and when its happening - refer his comments on brake bias adjustments or commenting on overtaking manouvres. On Speed TV sometimes a car has crashed before the commentors are aware something is wrong.
