Hey!
Thought i would share some pics of my brothers BMW 325I.
BMW 325I, 86'
Engine from BMW 745I, 82'
3.2 liter, turbocharged, 1 bar, Intercooler (can't really remember what it comes from, but i believe it was some Iveco)
Complete M3 E30 suspension and brakes, M3 E36 rims
OMP Pista (carbon) race seat ~1500 EUR
339,3 HP & 568,2 NM

No... it seems a to be a 4500cc!
3.2 liter, turbocharged
Its a 3200cc??
So.. after all, what's this thing's engine? ;)

The engine comes from a BMW 745I. Its a 3.2 liter engine with turbo, but BMW uses a factor by 1.4 to make it up for the extra power a turbo delivers if comparing to a N/A engine. Its because it was the top model back then, but it didn't sound good with top model called 732, when you have 735 in the program
Uhm. am I wrong or such turbo engine never hit Europe back then? I think so, and in that case it's something rare :D
As for the car, I have to admit I don't like to much when so many models are mixed up (body, engine, rims, suspensions and so on :D), but it's still a BMW, various BMW, and me likes BMW :D

It did back in 82'. I'm from Denmark and i now about a handful.... Standard it had 252 bhp. I believe in 85' a 3.5 liter also with turbo came, but it had the same power.
The mix of the many cars are neccessary (i don't spell that well in english) if you build a car like this. The standard brakes are like crap, plus the suspension is at least one level better from the M3 E30. The rims, what can i say.... They were the ones we had in stock, plus they fit the car very well. It actually was quite hard finding a set of wheels for it, because a M3 E30 uses 5 bolts while a standard E30 only uses 4, so you can't use standard E30 wheels. And the offset on a E36 & E34 doesn't really match a standard chassis.
When he returns from Iraq he will begin building a new one using the standard engine, with twin turbo... then it is a bit more standard....

Ah wait, maybe I made confusion with the 3-series turbo that was just for some markets like South Africa for instance.

Was there ever an E30 turbo?? As for rare E30s I just know the 333i and the 320is :?

Not quite - while the first Euro M3's were i4's, the South African equivalents (333i and 325is) were all 6 cylinders.
The Euro 745i was a turbo M102 3.2 and later 35 - while the South African 745i used the M1 M88 3.5l engine (also used in the M5 and M6).. making it basically an M7... ;)

I won't be able to put up more pics before the middle of next week.... my parents took my digi cam, and drove to Italy :(
There haven't really been made a great deal of mods to the engine. Around the cylinder a tiny ring have been machined, so that a piece of wire (0.6 mm) can lay half in there half pressed into the head gasket. It should prevent the gasket from getting blowed out :) It have now covered about 40.000 km.
The wastegate have been modded, so the load pressure is adjustable. There has also been fitted an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
The interior is pretty much standard except for the driver seat and a four-point seatbelt
