Spy Shot: Aston Martin AM V8 production model

"Styled by Henrik Fisker, the new Aston has a wide-opening hatchback, a generous luggage area and a two-seat interior inspired by that of the Vanquish. Power comes from a Jaguar-derived 4.3-litre V8, likely to give a good 370bhp, and a 500bhp-plus supercharged R version is also said to be on the cards. The engine is front mid-mounted - positioned well back in the engine bay to give optimum front:rear axle weight distribution. Wow , this is a sclusiv pics !!!! , lov ethe car , those are the most sexy clear lights in a production car , i would take a blue one like the one that has been in Top Gear , is simply stunning .

Holy sh** !! This car looks more and more beautiful every time I see it. The shape...SO well proprtioned.

But is the 370BHP version standard ?? I heard that the base model will have an engine kicking out 265BHP, to make it cheaper. Still, the more power the better. And a 6 speed manual to make the most of it :D

If this car get's the same marks as the DB9, Porsche is in deep trouble :D


Oh yeah...and is it just me or does the front resemble the Spyker c8 a bit ??

The production version is almost identical to the prototype! Great view from the side and back... It's probably the most beautiful yet affordable car on earth!

i have seen the pics where its in black but the silver ones are new to me. i definitly love this car. my fav aston design, it seems to perfect the design style the DB9 and vanquish use. my only complaint about aston (not this car) is that all their cars look very similar, almost too similar, but fuck its such a beautiful design who the hell cares! :D

and thats the first i have heard of the 500hp R version, holy crap that would be awesome!!

New Aston baby is really sexy yet elegant yeah!!!

The only concern is on the chassis/structure side, Aston is not famous for chassis diet and this VH platform certainly fits this reputation too. On a car like DB9/Vanquish, this is fine because that's a big GT, but not so on a 911/360 class car. Make it worse, porshce and Ferrari are both expert on light weight car -- and their new generation chassis is already in the pipelines.

Good touch they enlarged the front spoiler air intake. It was about the only thing I thought that could use a change.

For the rest....I just hope it drives as well as it looks.....stunning!

lol, if aston can put 2 mondeo v6's together and make it pretty reliable im sure the jaguar v8 will be fine...

As for the chassis, i think they've proved that their vh platform is stiff enough to make a big car like the db9 handle superbly. The same sort of chassis in a smaller car is only going to make it stiffer... lets hope the results are as good as the db9's anyway ;)

That isn't the DB9 fabro_s, it is most definetely the AMV8...and it is going to be gorgeous, perfectly proportioned, and the tightest ass I've ever seen on a car. The only problem I have is that the headlights are too far towards the front of the nose and lay too far sideways, I like the more front-to-back elongated lights in the DB7,DB9 and Vanquish a bit better.

That isn't the DB9 fabro_s, it is most definetely the AMV8...and it is going to be gorgeous, perfectly proportioned, and the tightest ass I've ever seen on a car. I think they did that to make it more squat, more muscley as this is going to be more of a sports aston compared with the db9 and vanquish which are gt's. Even if this doesent quite compare to a 911 in its performance abilities id definately take this every time over one, i reckon the best looking "new" aston yet... they really have got their arse in gear now ;)

Plans are a 370bhp est 170mph top speed and a 0 - 60 of 4.5s which suggests this is going to be a pretty light car as thats about the same acceleration as a 360 but dosent have as much hp. Which in turn suggests good handling ;)

BMW should fire Chris Bangle, and hire Henrik Fisker. One of the most beautiful car they have made in the last couple of years, the Z8, was also designed by him!

It really looks stunning, but if they are up to beating the Porsche 911 they have to make great progress on the quality. It is one of the things Porsche is known of. It can be used as an everydaycar

I'm glad AM didn't stray away from the design of the concept too much. It looks almost identical! And tthat's really a good thing. What a stunning car!!!

I'm surprised some people here can't tell the difference between this, the DB9 and a Vanquish. I don't have trouble with it and I don't mind at all that all AMs have the same design language. It's a great look. Not choosing a 911 was never this easy!

This will probably be one of the most desirable cars in the world if it ever goes into production. Mine would be blue. This, the DB9 and the Vanquish are beginning to look too similar though and their performances are similar aswell, their going to have to make a change in the future.

Very nice. If I'm not mistaken Henrik Fisker is also responsible for the Porsche 993, another one of my favorites.

Why do you say that? My parents have an S-type R and it has been great ever since we bought it. And it is all owned by Ford anyways.

But this car is very sexy. The lines it has are just unmistakable and very beautiful. I saw a DB7 in person once in Miami, I think I stood there staring for 10 minutes.

The DB9 is the replacement for the DB7, it runs essentially the same engine as the Vanquish and is the new mid-range car in the Aston lineup. The AMV8, or whatever its production name turns out to be is a 4.3L V8 engined car which shares much of its architecture with the DB9 but is clothed in a completely different, though somewhat similar-looking body and interior. It is the new "bread and butter" car in the Aston range and is going to be priced well below the DB9 and in direct competition with other mid-range sports cars like the Porsche 911.
