i'm really interested into getting a 'race' car now, something like a c32 or else a sti...which car do you guys think would be a better track car!? the c32 is known for bad rear brakes but the brakes aren't a problem, it can be swapped...although yes i'm in love with the sti, the c32 gives a much better name cause its a benz, plus comfort is an issue also, leather interior versus the sti bucket seats and cloth interior!? the down side with and mb though is the parts part, the shit is freakin expensive, just to get some more power like lets say 50 hp, will probably cost me 4 grand while in some other car like the sti, with 1-2 grand i can get more hp than 50...

I think the c32 its all about class and having the Mercedes quality in your ass, meanwhile you have an STI that makes driving a lot of fun and with 4 grand you get an STI to flyy, its between fun and class, you decide...

I'd take the STI.
It's comparring apples and oranges.
The STI is a waaaaaay better track car. No question about it.

If you want both the comfort and a good track car , take the M3.

Evo 8 has better handling than the Sti. Why don't you get a TT :) , then you can TT it :D (repeat it real fast) and show it off to TT :P Comfy interior + bad ass shifty thing + AWD + 3.2L Twin-turbo + nice design as long as you don't put a wing on it (lip is good). Stylish ride and good performance. 8) Seriously that would be the best.

Have you thought about an m3

If you want a sport car for the track the C32 is for sure completely wrong, so, between the two, STi all the way!

Yeah sti all the way, although if your worrying about comfort and class on a track day then as komotar and budagboy2 said try an m3. Scoobys have a tendancy to understeer when pushed hard on a track also whilst m3's are real wheel drive so a bit more fun ;) Either way if i had the option id never buy a c32 for track days

All good cars yes, but what about an Audi, S4 or something like that :)

What are you, a poseur ? Are you driving the car for yourself, or thatothers can look at the logo's on your car

The C32 is as far from a race car as the Corvette is from a shopping cart.
It has an automatic, is heavy, fully loaded, comfortable, WTF ? The STi in comparison is a totally different car...in a different price class...

First figure out what you want, this comparison is complete BS.

Completely different cars and you are comparing them?

MercedeSChink
07-06-2004, 10:57 AM
Lotus: for fuk sake, i'm just askin for an opinion from fellow members...true the two cars are in different classes, but i was comapring them because i like both of them and can't decide which one to go for...oh btw, i like the c32 for the comfort and the classiness dats why i'm tryin to be a fukin 'poseur'...

the c32 prices are gonna drop indefinitely within the next couple of months because of the new c55 which is coming out soon...thus a c32 would most likely be droppin down to a brand new sti level...i thought i would compare the two because they both are 4 door sedans and i just love the two...i've researched on modding the c32, for 4 gs i can get around 400 bhp, which i think will pull away from quite a few cars...as i said before though, its fukin expensive for fixin MBs, that's why the suby is in my interest, 4WD, nice and easy to mod and fix, everyone probably has parts for it nowadays, you get the idea...

MercedeSChink
07-06-2004, 11:00 AM
oh btw, the M3 is out of the question cause my family hates it, cuz 3 out of 6 uncles of mine got killed driving a bimmer(540, M3, 330)...as for the TT, i'm sorry guys, i really don't like the look of it, it reminds me of a turtle, the sc430 does the same thing to me also...i guess it might aswell be the STI, or else!? 350z?

komotar
07-06-2004, 11:04 AM
WTF??

3 out of 6??? What happened?
Man, that's horrible.

What about a 350z Track?

ae86_16v
07-06-2004, 11:12 PM
What are you gonna be using it for?

I am pretty sure if you care about luxury the 350z will be out of the question because of the cheap plastic interior. I haven't been in a STi but my friend owns a regular WRX, and that is pretty cheap as well.

I won't call a C32 a sports car though.

So again, I ask what are you gonna be using it for? By the way, I doubt most people could completely handle 349hp anyways.

Subaru WRX STI all the way :P

The C32 would definetely not be on my choice list...it's too heavy and equipped with an automatic tranny only, it's only real merits are the badge, the rear-drive nature of the car, and the comfort level. If you're considering racing, and by racing, I don't mean street-racing, but road course racing, you might want to consider getting something like th 350Z, a Corvette (probably slightly used), an STi, or an EVO. If you want to save cash, think about the Mazdaspeed Miata or even just the normal Miata and then hot it up a bit. You'd have a cheaper version of a Lotus Elise (which you could also potentially get depending on your price range).

He can't get the Evo in Canada. When it comes to a bette track car, there is no doubt: the STi is way more focused than the Merc....if you don't mind sitting in a "bin liner".

MercedeSChink
07-06-2004, 11:58 PM
well, as i said before, the sti is such a great car, i freakin love it, but when you compare it to the c32 by their names...which car would get more attention? as for the c32 and the tranny situation, it can be converted to a manual gearbox! just call renntech to do that though...

oh btw, i'm mainly thinkin of street/drag racing, but track racing is also in consideration...

Vansquish
07-07-2004, 12:57 AM
I understand that the conversion can be carried out, and quite frankly I think the money would be better spent elsewhere, as I'm sure the conversion is not on the cheap end of things. The C32 is a nice car, but I would rather be seen in the STi, as it actually has some serious performance cachet. I know the C32 is fast and can be upgraded, but I also, no disrespect intended, feel that the C32 is something of a poseur's car. The recent Mercs are all fast, and capable and have a certain teutonic elegance about them, but the interior trim is flimsy and not all that well put together so far as I can tell, and the fact remains, they are heavy vehicles, even up to the SLR when compared to their competitors. You'll also get better launches with the STi, as you won't have to worry about the all-intrusive traction control (which no doubt you'd want to turn off or get rid of all together) and rear-drive nature of the Merc.

I think what you should really do is go looking for the previous bodystyle C55 if you want a Merc. Same engine, same tranny, and even more limited numbers....and....they would be total sleepers. The C36 and C43 were all well and good, but see if you can find a C55.

I would wait for the EVO VII MR to come out then buy that or buy an EVO VII RS eventhough I'm sure you couldn't live without poer windows, mirrors, AC, ABS, and leather.

You're a poseur because you care about the extra attention the Mercedes-star might give you. You're talking about racecars, and then compare a C32 with an STi. Those cars are nothing alike, I don't see how your only choices can be these 2 (now 3, a coupe now WTF ?)....

Get an Evo 8 and call it a day

T-Bird

the Mommy-class Mercedes is the M-Class mercedes alot of woman drive them it's like 10:1 women:men ratio with that thing and I've seen many women/moms driving C cars even the 32. And yeah neons are just for people trying to draw attention to themselves especially in a Mercedes. but the thing doesn't compare to the class of car the STi and EVO are in.

MercedeSChink
07-07-2004, 05:05 PM
oh the m class, yes, now i must agree on that...the fact is that i have to stick with the ML because i have to tow my sea doos and my boat from the home to the cottage and back every season, so i can't say much...if i didn't need to, i'd be drivin the sti right now...

T-Bird
07-07-2004, 05:09 PM
you don't need an ML to tow Sea Doo's they don't weigh that much. Get a Lightning or something if you have to have a truck but wan't something fast and fun to drive then trade in your ML for that and buy another car while your at it.

Ok...let me get this straight, you have a choice between the 350Z, the STi, and the C32...the last of which happens to be a Mercedes. By your own admission the Merc you have has been a pain and a money pit.

LotusGT1

But it has a star on the hood, so he digs it.

Poseur....

Vansquish
07-10-2004, 01:28 PM
True everso, but it's also considerably heavier than some of its immediate competitors...the M3 would be my choice for sure I suppose, and then rather than the 3-pointed star he gets a proper badge with real meaning.

T-Bird
07-10-2004, 01:36 PM
so Mercedes means nothing? I'm not a huge fan unless it's an AMG or McLaren but they did invent the automobile if I'm correct. I would take the propellers or rings over the star but it still has meaning.

you are far from correct he created the assembly line making cars affordable to the masses but Daimler-Benz invented the automobile.

T-Bird

ok but if you want a track day car you shouldn't even consider the MB because it is far from one in that respect you said yourself you would buy one because it was a Mercedes hence posseur BUT there are those kind of cars from every company they are called the slow versions for people who can't afford the real one such as V6 muscle cars, MB C-class, BMW 1-series, 1.8T's in large sedans from VAG etc... If you buy a car because of the name you are a Posseur even guys who buy Ferrari's and Lambo's because of the name on the hood/trunk not because of what the car really is.

Ahahahahaha...

You're the one considering a C32 as a racecar. LOL, it's weighting more than 1600 kilos and has an automatic gearbox for crying out loud.... You drive a M-class right now, possibly the worst engineered Mercedes ever, purely built to get soccermoms to drive their kids to school, and for people who care about badges only and want to "bling" on Rodeo Drive. LOL, you'd have tons more fun with f.e. a Porsche 944 and a Explorer to tow your jetski/boat/whatever...and you'd have a lot money in your pocket...But you only care about the star on the hood...poseur

LOL@this comparison, LOL@you only caring for badges while that should be your least concern. LOL@you comparing a STi, 350Z and a C32. LOL@your definition for a racecar. LOL@you period.

You know shit about cars, face it.....

P.S. Is this (http://stuntaz.cjb.net/) your site ?
