Technically "Garage Chat", I was wondering if anyone had experience with do-it-yourself epoxy floor paint? Although I'd like to have someone come in and do the garage floor, money is short. However, I'd still like a nicer than average garage floor. This week, Lowe's Home Improvement (they're like Home Depot) has a sale (see page 23 of ad):

$23.94/gallon
Interior/Exterior Seal-Krete Epoxy-Seal

or

$54.97/gallon
Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield Garage Floor Coating Kit

I've seen the Rust-Oleum "kit" advertised in the Big Three car mags before (R&T, C&D, Motor Trend), but don't know anyone that has actually done their garage floor themselves. I have also considered the one made by Behr, sold at Home Depot for $100 in a 5 gallon bucket.

I'd like to do it, but if it's absolutely terrible, I'll skip it and try to save up to have it professionally done someday.

Thanks for any input.

hahaha I was just trying to do that yesterday!! I cleaned out my whole garage which took me about 6-7 hrs and I go to the store get the Epoxy Rustoleum kit and watch the video that comes with it....and the first thing it says in the video is that it won't work on floors that have a sealant. So I got fucking pissed...gathered myself up and returned it. But i've heard good stuff about the epoxy rustoelum from people in the store ...nothing other then that. But watchin the video, it looked great. OH! Just one thing though. The video said that once you put down the flooring, it will take about 7 days until you can put your car back on it. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE sealant!! if you do, then I called the company and they said the only thing you can do is sand of the top layer of it

Good luck....To me, I think it would look kicks.

Did the video say how you can check for sealant?

Can't you also buy the etching chemical and put that on there?

I didn't know it would take 7 days. I can only do 1/2 of the garage at a time...because of my racks....

Thanks for the info...

Ya no prob. Umm....You can check if you have sealant if you just look at it. Is your floor shiny? If it is...then you got sealant. I tried to find a sealant remover and I couldn't find anything. If you find anything tell me...because I would love to put that Epoxy on our garage floor. About the etching chemical...I don't know. You can try it and tell me how it works. But other then just looking at your floor and seeing if its shiny...then Im pretty sure it has a sealant. I could be wrong...but Im pretty sure
