Ok, I figure there have to be some photoshop experts here.

I have been lookign for new wheels for my car for a long time. I absolutely deteste most of the wheels out on the market today. Finally, I think I found one that is elegant an dyet sporty enough for the 550.

Fikse Profil 5. Can anyone photoshop these wheels onto my car? I would like to see both the "race black" (anthracite) finish as well as the standard kind of polish (not their chromed out stuff...too much bling).

Attached is a side-shot of the car. Tell me if you need a better one...

That's why we have the competitions section :D to drag them out into the light :D and anyway to change wheels is pretty easy, but first we will need of course the picture since I don't see it ;) you can use imageshack.us or any other host posted in the sticky topic in "car gallery", and also a picture of the new wheels, prossibly installed on a car, not on neutral background because of course it's better if behing theme there are the disks, shadows and so on...

That's the image of the car I was thinking of. Uh...hmm, I may have an image of another 550 with the wheels in chrome? Let me look. Actually, yes, I have a friend with the same car lowered with these wheels in chrome.

So basically you don't need help anymore LOL :D they look pretty nice. But I don't really like chrome since wheels are already a pain in the ass to be kept in good condition w/o adding the chrome thing to the equation :D

Anthracite do look very good , but why not going with the Enzo wheels ? TT posted ( or ST-Anger ) a pic of a CS with the ENzo wheels , they look gorgeous , maybe you can order anthracite ones , i bet they would look very good

The reason I don't like the BBS LMs is because they are too thin and "spokey." On the 550, this looks bizarre.

I saw a 360 with Enzo look-alikes, but I wasn't totally sold. The 550 doesn't give one an idea of "lithe" handling...whichis why I think thinner spokes don't do so well with it.

LotusGT1: thanks for the picture. Very interesting. I may do it...

I too don't think the BBSs would work well with the 550.

How about gun-metal with a polished lip?

Never been a fan of the polished lip. Next I'll have to lower it a bit, get a dark tint, black out my headlights, and get the plate "DRK HORS" :D

I dunno. Someone I know PSed the Enzo wheels on a black enzo and made them anthracite...looks better there. I still think the multi-spokes here is a bit off. But, there's a 3-dimenstional aspect that should be taken into account.

I will see who can construct such a thing. I know there are whels for the 360...

I think they look superb , but i dont knoiw if ferrari sells those , cuz the Enzo ones have just one screw , and your car should have 4 or 5 , so maybe they are made by order , and i LOVE the way they look in your car .

Ferrari doesn't sell them. You are right, bot the 360 and the 550 have 5 lugnuts. Someone had them made by contract for the 360. I am sure they can do the same for the 550, but I'm still not sure it would go. Too "racy" for the subtlety of the 550.

I know, I'm really picky! ;)

Dan - just my 02p but why not get a set of the modular wheels that are an option on the 575M? They look great IMO and are 1" bigger diam than your current wheels. They REALLY suit the lines of the 550/575 and make it look a bit more modern.

I've totally changed my opinion on aftermarket wheels in the last few years - i used to be a real fan of big imposing rims, but the whole 'bling' culture has had a negative impact - put it this way - you want to look like a rapper (who only bought the car cos it was $$$) or do you want to be seen as a connoisseur

I've swapped the rims on my Esprit but i went for superlight magnesium wheels which were a rare lotus factory option (same wheel as Mclaren F1 LM). Glad i didn't go for some heavy aftermarket rims that i'd end up seeing on a poxy honda or a toyota or something

Bottom line is you do what ever makes you happy - your money, your car etc..!

Cheers
Rob

Rob,

Excellent points. I have looked into the 575 modulars (I don't like the 550's), and the retail on the wheels is $3700 ... each. I can get a discount, but maybe of 25% or so. That's still very expensive for rims, and they're not exactly the best out there. But, I agree, they are very well suited to the 550/575 lines.

Again - you hit the nail on the proverbial head. Do you have pictures of the larger wheels? I have always been a fan of Lotus' designs. I'm sure they're very sharp. Are they the mag wheels from the Sport350?

Pat: Novitec makes these "enzo-lookalike" wheels. It's actually CEC. I will get pricing info later, but I have a good connection @ CEC so we'll see. I'm still not sold... :D

Ouch.. those modulars are some price rims.. :) Still, you're paying for all the r&d and the badge i suppose..

Yes, my car has the mag wheels that were fitted to sport 350 models - it was a £4k option for a very short period of time ('til they ran out of stock). I traced a set second hand, plus i also upgraded to the sport350 AP brakes at the same time.

Lets get a pic of the novitecs painshopped on your car and get a debate going :D
