Just fitted a new video card (as far as I know one of the only ones to offer 3D performance as well as quad DVI ouput @ 1600x1200)

http://www.imaginegraphics.co.uk/products/colorgraphic/Xentera.htm

http://www.colorgraphic.net/newsite/downloads/pdf/xentera%20gt%20spec.pdf

Compared to the last one that was running on analogue...the results are simply breath taking...but I will allow the pictures to do the rest of the talking.

(The last wallpapers of the cars are just for fun)

And your desktop pics are AMAZING!

That's some real shit... Digital is so much better, I know.. But with my Geforce 2 MX 200, there is no digital output to my single 17" monitor..

BTW: That celebrity that week, is he very famous in England? There's so many of them who I have never heard of..

A mini review I wrote for another forum :

The performance of the whole system compared to when using the Matrox G200MMS is OUTSTANDING. The actual monitor displays are now crisp and clear as I am able to run at 1600x1200 DVI as opposed to a very grainy 1600x1200 analogue with the Matrox.

The 2D performance is razor sharp with absolutely no "lag" on any of the displays and as you will see in the pictures I was running four full screen videos at once without any slowdown whatsoever (even if one is a DVD playing on full screen and the others compressed DIVX there is no slowdown in performance either).

The 3D performance obviously is not as breathtaking but yes it does have some and I am sure it would be capable of running a few of the older and less demanding games if you chose to do so ( I am not a gamer and I am only interested in video editing/encoding)

I was also able to push the system a bit further to a stable 4.02 GHZ with the new card and I am sure it could go further still.

Performance stats coming soon.

You are the person that I have been waiting for thamar.

You might have to have a custom title soon "PC Genius"

I am too embarrassed to post my 3D mark score but then my 3D power is spread out over 4 screens so perhaps we should multiply it by four !!....as I understand it the two VPU's on the card is split between the four screens if I went for the eight output card using only four screens then each screen would have its own dedicated vpu and therefore I presume performance would be increased. Also the eight output card is 256 MB vs 128 on my one.

Is there any other way to increase my 3D score or maybe I would do better with the other more processor based test ?? From what I could see though you have to pay for that one ??

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you want I can take the gloves off and go with a single output card and then send a private plane to fetch thamar over to the Jabba HQ

Just joking...if you can beat thamar then you can have a custom title as well. "3D Mark" King or something.

A way to increase your speed, is when you benchmark or would be gaming, that you turn of the other monitors, with ultramon that goes rather quick. That way they only have to adress a single monitor.

Damn of course I should have thought of that...will try that tonight.

Impressive Jabba , btw looking at those TG videos now i know you keep uncompressed files on your HD , how much do they weight ? And how do you manage to convert them to Widescreen , if you capture them in 4:3 then we miss something when converting to 16:9 right ?

Amazing setup ... but they dont do justice on how they look in real life

Minacious
06-22-2004, 04:00 PM
And your system being? ;)

LOL! Just messing around with you kids. I was never really one to try and be the fastest on the block. There will always be someone faster. The only time I really upgrade is when the rendering time for my 3D apps starts to chug a bit.

My fastest machine has 2Gigs of Corsair XMS PC3200, an ASUS Radeon 9800XT, an AthlonXp 3200, 2 WD 120GB HDs, among other things. With conservative tweaks here and there inside of a box with a bunch of fans. With JW being gandered at on a 22" monitor. As you can see nothing major, but it does well. :D :D
I wouldn't even try to compete with you guys. :D

hey jabba, how do you have your background setup!? right now i have a dual mon, running off windows xp...i'm trying to get two separate wallpapers on each screen but it doesn't work...is this a trick you have up your sleeve or is it an option that only money could buy(ie. new vid card)!? btw i have the ati 8500 radeon card...

that is flat up the sickest setup ive ever seen. i stopped spending tons of cash on computers and instead dump it into my car and gas years ago. you had to drop some serious cheddar to pick up a setup like that. thats gotta = at least a fmic and a huge turbo upgrade...

They are a couple of gig each and are captured in 16:9 from my sky digital + box.

I will be hooking it up to its SVHS port soon so expect an improvement in video quality.

Jabba at what frequency do you run those monitors?

Jabba
06-23-2004, 12:20 PM
1600x1200 60HZ DVI

SFDMALEX
06-23-2004, 12:31 PM
at 60HZ its fine? no strain on the eyes?

I guess LCDs dont flicker like crts.*dont have much experiance with LCDs*

Jabba
06-23-2004, 12:38 PM

Nope it even reccomends that frequency in the card documentation. Also notice the lack of "flicker" in the photos that the camera normally sees with CRT.

Jabba
06-24-2004, 04:30 AM
A dumb question now I should think.

Can you screen burn a TFT ? (meaning by leaving the screen on the same image for hours on end)

I would imagine not though...as with CRT its the actual ray part that burns the image into the screen....right ? and with TFT its just pixels that are turned on with a small electrical charge ??

Jabba
06-24-2004, 07:05 AM
What causes stuck pixels though ?? could they become stuck if left on for too long ?

Minacious
06-24-2004, 01:38 PM
Actually, a TFT monitor can get burn in, it just has a lot stronger tolerance than a CRT.

Jabba
06-25-2004, 04:24 AM
Anyway to unstick a stuck pixel ??....and if you can screen burn them...then I guess I better start looking for a decent screensaver.

RC45
06-25-2004, 04:30 AM
TFT do burn - on a previous project we have flat panel monitors and plasma TV's on the walls for realtime network status... and the web page border and default icons burned into all of them in about 3 months.

But granted they were on 7x24 - but it is still possible.

I think stuck pixels are hardware errors and there for good.

Jabba
06-25-2004, 04:32 AM
That advice may have saved me an expensive broken heart.

Do you know anyway to unstick quite a few pixels that I have on one of my monitors RC ?

RC45
06-25-2004, 04:39 AM
Well - there was a story that you can rub the screen gently and perhaps you can "repair" the malfunctioning transistor.

Ever notice how you can prexss the TFT screen and affect the behaviour of the transistors? Same idea... but I have no idea what the potnetial for damage is.

Jabba
06-25-2004, 04:49 AM
Well I guess you might need "healing" hands or something. I guess if I just try it on that area then I dont have alot to loose really.

Jabba
06-25-2004, 04:55 AM
Its alot more than five...but the cost of the shipping (UK > USA) both ways and all the hassle that goes with it is worse than the stuck pixels.

Jabba
06-25-2004, 06:06 AM
Well not just a different sticker on the case...the whole case has been changed...probably should read powered by Samsung.
