i think this is easy, the CGT, even 4 everyday use, i would never get tired of that engine!

I have voted for the Carrera RS that's becoz it can be a daily driver and my living area (given the fact that if I bought the car I will be literally living in it LOL). But half my heart is pounding for the CGT.

I chose the CGT, just because, it's the the best, and I might win a drag against an Enzo, and maybe win the Enzo from the owner, and then I'd have an Enzo :D

I don't know all of the models mentioned and i'm too tired to google around, any1 cares to post pics so other ignorants like me may have a better idea of whats the stakes here... please  I think the GT1 would leave the CGT at the start line if the stakes are performance. If it's design then the old roadster model that was murphys ride in another 24hrs hands down. Then if it's for everyday use, well still the roadster... all class bling free baby yeah. Unless it's for winter driving, then it would be a 4wd model, cheap too so i wouldn't feel so bad in all the salt... so a carrera 4s then is it? How about a 1938 chevrolet 1/2 ton 4x4, ya can have the class and the 4wd + a hydractive suspension and still drive it everyday... Even more, you'll have a one of a kind!! You can even swap in a duramax diesel engine, mod it to 450bhp with like over 1000 ft/lb of torque. Feed it biodiesel and pollute 80% less than your CGT. At the red light it owns most porsches! isn't that worth so much more for a lot lot less?!

thanks gucom for posting the picture, i didn't really have the time. it seems that a lot of people are going for the newer porsche like the CGT, but in my opinion, i think the CGT is a GREAT GREAT car, but it's not a lemans winning racer yet so compare against the 917, 956, 962, 935, and the GT1, the CGT seems to be a lil slow.

My personal favourite is the GT1, it looks good (i dont' like the evolution version in the pics that gucom post though the first version look much better), very very exclusive and rare, very very fast and most importantly, it was the last porsche that won lemans (1998).

yeah but how many of those cars have you sene with a license plate on em?? ofcourse race cars are faster than street cars, also porsche said the Carrera GT wont participate in Le Mans (at least not in any kind of official Porsche team), so dont count on that.
I really have a hard time choosing, but i chose the CGT for its sound, and the 7:28 NS time (should be fast enough to beat some of those race cars, Niki Lauda was the first (and as far as i know only) man to do the NS in under 7 minutes, in a F1 car in '76, so a Le Mans car should be lucky to do a 7:28 lap, i think the 917 which is from '71 cant do that).

But all of these porsches have a special thing for me, so its very close

The Carrera GT is definatelly the most technologically advanced car Porsche ever made and so beautiful at the same time. A real work of art.

that's my point, the GT1 is rarer and more exclusive.

it is a GT1, a different version, i believe this is the GT1 Evolution, it isn't a street version.

Well your right about Niki Lauda but it is more complicated than that. Over the years the length of the NS has changed. Niki set the time of 6:58.6 when the track was 22.835 km verses today’s 20.832 km track. When comparing different track lengths from different eras it is easiest to compare average lap speeds. Niki averaged 196.38 km/hr. As far as I know the fastest time was set in 1983 by Stefan Bellof in a Gruppe C Porsche 956 with an average speed of 202 km/hr.

The CGT time of 7:28 corresponds to an average speed of 167.4 km/hr. Your right that is extremely fast especially considering it is a street car. However, a 917 averaged 182.11 km/hr on the 22.835 track in 1973 and a 935 did it in 179.76 km/hr in 1979.

...when we´re talking about racing cars, definitely the 956/962!!!
its design was simply ahead of its time, it handles extremely good, had the best brakes by that time, stunning aerodynamics performance, was the first car featuring Bosch electronic fuel management, first Porsche car with monocoque instead of tube design, therefore it´s still most successful sports racing car of all time, just some key words: LeMans, FIA & IMSA endurance races, NS endurance races ( 1000km race…), endless list....
last but not least, as lakatu already pointed out, a 956 achieved a nearly unbeatable lap time on NS with 6:11 for the 20,832km track...

street cars......extremely hard decision....CGT or 993 Turbo S, can´t decide... :P

I would have to go with the 962 as well, its the most succesful endurance race car of all time!...if you are talking street cars you could always go for the Dauer 962 which is the racing version of the Porsche 962 but...I dont think its considered a true Porsche, and with over 700bhp at the rear wheels with no traction control and only lsd it is quite a savage car...however..its supported by the Porsche factory as it uses all porsche parts as far as I know apart from the headlights which are from VW...not the best choice there but, as far as fully PORSCHE street cars I would either go for the CGT the 911 RS, or the 993 GT2...I'm undecided :D

I would have to say the 993 and the 996 Porsche 911 turbos. They are the best all around sports cars IMO.

However, the Porsche 917, for its heritage, and the CGT, for its amazing technology are a good 2nd and 3rd. :D

CGT
917
962
935
996 GT2

The CGT might be slower than the 917 and 962, but it's actually a useable road car.

well basically the 356 was the road car that started in '48, and the 550 was basically a racecar (altho road cars existed also), that started in '56 if memory serves me right. I'm sure the 550 is somehow related to the 356, but it looks totally different in shape

yeah, the list that i initially made was way too big, i didn't put the 959 becuz it was not a HUGE success for the company.
