View Full Version : Your ideal car

Ford Capri 2.8i

If you had enough money to make a hand-made car(e.g. as the Ascari creator has built it by himself), what kind of car would be the car of your dreams?..........

By using this statement id like to get what would be your ideal car if you had the chance to build it

My cars ingredients would be very simple.....a McLaren F1 feeded by the CL65 merc engine, the SLR brakes, and the car set depending on my driving stlyle

.....a McLaren F1 feeded by the CL65 merc engine

Why would you want to do that?!?!?!? I mean, damn dude, the Mclaren F1's engine is more powerful and a hell of a lot lighter than the CL65's....The only real impressive thing about the Merc's engine is its torque figure....but then....you can only use so much torque in a car that light...isn't 479lb-ft enough?!

I think if I had the money to put a car together myself, it would in essence just be a Mclaren F1 with Carbon composite disks as used in the Enzo or perhaps the Ceramics of the Carrera GT, and some minor modificactions in pursuit of high-speed stability and downforce....that's it. The F1 is pretty much the perfect car.

How about a Macca F1 with an extra 500hp and 100 less kg.. :)

I'd build a 1200hp ish Big-Block muscle car, lower it, put on some nice rims + low profile tires, full racing suspension, redo the interior, decent system, but not too good (save weight), restore the outside to look mostly stock, and then go pick on a bunch of street racing kids, or at the drag strip. lol

Well if you get the LM version, you're 1/2 way there...it weighs in about 100kg less and has 636bhp instead of 627...I guess you'd have to turbocharge or supercharge to get more out of it.

the lm actually has 680bhp :D

That would be the XJ220S...the LM version of the Mclaren F1 in race spec only had 636 due to air restrictors. The LM roadcar of which only 5 were produced had 668 bhp, not 680.

all say 680

Perhaps a Twin Turbo setup, to give you an even 1000hp/1200lb .. with a 350hp shot of nawz to keep you competitive with them Skylines you might meet up at the stoplight... ;)

Hmm...I'm thinking...mid-engine car, with roughly 6 liters of German built DOHC V12, a 6 speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive, no electronic nannies, timeless styling, and everything that can be made out of carbon fibre made out of carbon fibre...oh wait, I think someone already built that car .

Seriously though,
1) 1000kg
2) 4-5 liter N/A DOHC V12
3) 6 speed manual
4) rear wheel drive
5) no traction control
6) on/off ABS
7) active aerodynamics, lots of downforce, no wings
8 ) carbon-ceramic brakes
9) no power steering
10) variable exhaust, loud when you want it loud, quiet when you want it quiet

aww jeez, that's still basically an F1...just with a smaller engine and a little less weight

Mh I like that! LOL

My ideal car has the philosophy of the TVR. I want it small, not to large because it must be usable on mountain roads (in an Enzo I would be scared because it's too big). a light engine (straight six or a lightweight V8) with 550bhp front-middle mounted. body and chassis made of carbon fibre. 6 speed manual, RWD without ASR but switchable ABS. No servo-assisted brakes but powersteering (good like the Noble unit).

Speaking of hypercar, the middle mounted V12 is a must have. Better if, like the F50, is a mod F1 engine.700bhp, chassis and body made of Carbon Fibre, standard brakes ( I'm not so sure of those carbon ceramic brakes...). Aerodynamic must be Enzo like (without wings and high down force).

Chaos in 1983!

The looks of the F355 Spider, the engine of the F355 Spider, the sound of the F355 Spider, the beauty of the F355 Spider... do you need more?

LOL...I couldn't have said it better...although instead of Spider...I'd have the GTS

Sounds like you're talking about a de-winged version of the F50 GT1...nice car hehe. 4.7L V12...720bhp based on an F1 engine, 6speed sequential manual...not sure if it has carbon brakes or not though.

Hum... let me think... something like a Lotus Exige... but with carbon fiber all round.. and a inline 6 cilinder BMW M3 CSL engine...

And I think it's everything! And it would surely kick ass!!!

Yes that's true! LOL I wasn't thinking about the F50 GT1 but I described a similar car...it's true, Ferrari is in my heart and even if I don't want to think at it, she's always in my mind

Sounds exactly like my dream car, except I'd take about 350BHP and just make the car lighter.

stop thinking small...woogies

how about...

2004 2005 ferrari f1 with a full time pit crew and a tanker truck to go with it.

licensed and raised a hair so that i could clear dust in the road.

i just want to be able to roll up to the police station, rev twice, "signal", and let them chase me till i get bored.

can't get any better, period.

A 1984 288 GTO with the turbo's opened to their max, which would produce about 600 hp. Ceramic disk brakes, newer, wider tires, Enzo rims, and a 360 interior. Absolute perfection

Ok, here we go

- V12 from the enzo
- ceramic brakes from enzo
- Manual box from 355 or Murcie
- CGT suspension
- Interior ( can't choose between Zonda, DB9, ENZO)
- Rims from CGT or Enzo

Ha - My fantasy exactly...to come up slow behind a cop.....give him just enough time to say..... WTF.... and then blow by and go till the tank runs out!!! Who cares if we have a heavy fuel load - and does it really matter if we are on a 2 or 3 stop strategy???? :D :D :D :D :D :D
