i can highley recommend that notebook, it“s even better than a equivalent sony vaio, which i had before.
it“s unbelievable quiet, light ( only 2.86kg), faster than a 2GHz intel M, and due to the centrino processor it need not be recharged for over 5 hours when working or surfing all the time.

Was the same here until Telewest (A big Cable TV and broadband company in the UK) rolled out 1meg (100k sec) and recently 2meg (200k sec) lines.
It's not available in all the UK only select areas and it also costs £50 per month which is $121 AUD - although it's not mega bucks is not cheap either
yup thats what im hoping to get when they move there asses to were i live, hoping to get the 1 meg line.
which one do u have SDK,is it definately worth getting from them?
666fast
10-07-2003, 10:56 AM
Damn thats expensive SDK!!
I pay $40 (24 GBP) just for internet access. Hell, my internet and cable TV bill (same company) is less than what you pay for internet service!

which one do u have SDK,is it definately worth getting from them?
I have the 2Meg Cable Line from Telewest (http://www.telewest.co.uk/) and have the option to change it to either 512k, 1 Meg or back to 2Meg with 1 months notice.
If you are a big downloader then the extra ££'s for the 2meg line is worth it, otherwise 512k or 1Meg is enough
Standard charges are (per month)
512k - £30
1 Meg - £40
2 Meg - £55
They offer small discounts if you also sign up for their Phone and Digital TV Service
1Meg Internet, Digital TV and Phone Package = £60 per month (Saving £5)
512k - £30
1 Meg - £40
2 Meg - £55
This is anyway a pretty good offer compared to what we can have here.. what about upload speeds?

talking about cheap internet access..japan gets unlimited 8Mbps ADSL for 3300yen/month which comes to about 40AUD or 29USD
but i pay $80/month for 512k. broadband is such a rip off in this country. but for cable, speed is only limited to whatever speeds it is capable of but only get 3gb download
My friends father is in Hong Kong.. Last month he bought a connection..
Be ready..........
10Mbps connection for only 10$ per month...

its because ppl in asia embrace new technology immediately unlike most aussies, they're slow as fuck. if you look at reports. HK, Japan and Korea are the on top with most internet users.
plus we have telstra which is fucking up everything for australians who want to embrace new technologies.

I pay $49.95US/mo for 768KB ADSL Thats UP/DOWN speed. ALthough I have not seen speeds much faster than 460KB on average for upload. I have gotten on average 650KB on downloads.

plus we have telstra which is fucking up everything for australians who want to embrace new technologies.
You also have to realize that their population density is alot higher than australia's or America's or Canada's. it's much more cost efficent to hook those people up into a fiber connection because they don't have to use as much cable to get everyone connected.
edit: And by percentage values (of how many broadband users there are out of the total population), Canada has the 2nd most broadband users next to South Korea

These are my sytems. I'm always upgrading my desktop-system. It's still a fast machine I think (it's 4 years old now), because of the dual processor setup.
Desktop PC:
Big alu tower with:
MSI motherboard with dual PIII 900Mhz (it's as fast as a P4 2,4 Ghz!!!) :D
2048MB RAM
128MB ATI Radeon 9600Pro
4x Western Digital 250MB harddrives  (brandnew...)
Plextor cd-writer 52speed
ASUS DVD-player
Sony DVD-/+ RW
Soundblaster AudigyII Platinum Pro
Wireless LAN
2 x Ilyama 17" flatpanel
Logitech diNovo Media desktop
Windows XP Pro
Notebook:
Promedion D470V
17" widescreen (1440x900)
128MB ATI Radeon 9600 Mobilty :!:
3,2Ghz Pentium4
1024MB RAM
80GB Harddisk
DVD-RW
built-in webcam
built-in 6-in-1 cardreader
Gigabit LAN
Wireless LAN
TV-Tuner
Subwoofer
Windows XP Pro
The notebook is only 2 weeks old and I love it! Especially because of the (for a notebook) huge graphics card and the widescreen display.
