Every time I see it, I like it more and more...the headlamps will take some getting used to, I won't argue that, but the rest of the car is better proportioned and more taught-looking than the somewhat bulbous C5 (not that the C5 looked bad)

His ex-girlfriend (who just happens to be in one of those pictures - hideous if you ask me LOL) has a father and an older brother who both work for GM. I think her dad was in charge of some rather large percentage of the GTO's development and gets to bring home company cars every now and then....though I can't explain why that particular car has road-reg plates rather than manufacturer ones.

hahaha....my sentiments exactly....I couldn't stand her when he was dating her and I can't stand her now....I just can't understand why the goofball keeps going over to her house....well...except that it means that he's driven a CTS-V, Z06, C6, C5 and a new GTO hehe.

large percentage of the GTO's development

What changing the badges?

home company cars every now and then....

It isn't as great as it sounds. All gm executives are given a different company car each week.. Its rotated around to give their feedback.. so one day they have a corvette, the next its an aztec. (remember I know a high level gm executive.. albeit I havent talked to him in about 3 months).

"What changing the badges?"

Prolly just the moving of the gas tank and different front grill.

i like it, once again it will be most bang for your buck at that price range, and it's a nice looking car; someone with a ferrari won't think so, but most of us driving inferior cars, would love to own one, C6 looks good, should have some more power though ... 5.7 L and 400 bhp is not too spectacular, but on the other hand its 400 bhp, and next ZO6 should be even sweeter

and it's 6.0L and not 5.7 anymore.

and it's 6.0  L and not 5.7 anymore.
It's up to 6L now, but GM still call it "small block" -- I hope those S600/760Li owners won't complain about their "Extra small block" engine.

Its a small block because it is based off a small block engine, not its current displacment. You can bore that thing out to 427 and it would still be a small block.

The fact that GM rotates its cars around isn't news to me graywolf624. You do have to have some relatively high-level privelages to have access to vehicles AND be able to take them home for extended test drives (over weekends and so forth) It's almost precisely the same at Ford, so I do understand how the program works. As for the development of the GTO, I'm not sure what he did, all I know is that it was, in my friend's words, "His baby." The ex's dad has also brought home next-gen Z06's still wrapped in camo, and those are most definetely not available for low level employees.

Just to make it clear, the C6 is not released yet. All the cars that are being seen and driven around the country are test mules.

The part i don't really like is the front headlamp, i think they should have made them sharper, Road and Track made a better drawing of them in an illustration.
I don't really like the inside too, it's too "soft" not enough yankee  too impersonal :|
But i think it will be a great Corvette for the roadholding and performance !!

Seems GM has placed a publication embargo on the C6  which ends on July 31st though

In point of fact that isn't true. the C6 is not on sale, but there are production-ready vehicles running around. They could not be testing mules and be road certified without having manufacturer plates, which many of the C6's I have seen on the road in Michigan do not.

yeah the ones on the roads now are what you would call long term testers they khand them out and get feedback about the car to make sure that the cars are holding together I've seen convoys of teters all over the country usually nothing that extravagant just driving and they all have radios and GPS stuff on the dash just driving across country to see if they will last and almost always they have Michigan plates on them.

Exactly. They are what you might call "prove-out" vehicles. Cars that come off the assembly line, as would a customer vehicle...but are pre-production vehicles built with the intent of making sure that everything actually works.

Sorry gents, you two are correct. I used the wrong term and what you guys said is essentially what I meant.

I really like what they have done to the Corvette.

At first I was mad at GM for getting rid of the pop up headlights because they were such a intergral part of the Corvette just as much as the 4 round taillights are. But now I stand corrected, the glass enclosure matches up with the car very nicely.

They main thing thats got me intersated in the new vette is the new gen 4 V8. That will be in most of their subsidary owned companys like Holden
