From today all yahoo accounts have 100Mb free space and a total message size of 10MB. :D

If only this came a month ago .. I deleted a lot of email from that time. :cry: ...

"El tamaño de los mensajes a enviar/recibir aumentará a 10MB"
and that in english is:
"the message size for receiving/sending is 10MB" Something like that.

Yes now an email can be up to 10 MB big.. not sure if it could be a single file attached though

The funny thing is that at the moment yahoo doesn't load LOL.. somebody already abused them? My girlfriend has an account there and it's impossible to access it :roll:

I don't know why somebody would like to store 100 MB of emails LOL.. even on the "unlimited" accounts that comes with a personal webspace, I never had more than a couple of MB... if the emails are full of attachment, you donwload them and throw the email away... if you need to store email addys, you store them in the address book, not just keep emails around.. stuff really important can be printed... really.. for a businness I still understand.. but if you have a businness you use your personal website's email.. so a free 100 MB account is completely dumb IMO :D

Not sure if I'm happy with this development but I suppose it is the next logical step in a ratrace.

I think it´s not pointless...ok, maybe there is no point in having 100 MB worth of mail stored on someone else´s server but to be able to send/receive emails up to 10 MB big can be pretty useful, I think I´ll open an account with them :)

Three things make the 10 Mb E-Mail option troublesome.
1) when you don't enjoy the comfort of a broadband connection
2) when the intended receiver still has a 4 or 5 Mb Mailbox
3) more and bigger spam messages
But yes you're right it's nice when you want to mail a number of nice piccies across the inet

I think 100MB is a good idea because i sometimes send photos to my friends and lot and lots of time i get the emails back cos their email is full, which is very annoying.

I think it's like a very powerfull car.
You won't use it all the time but it's there in case you need it you in case you decide to have some fun. :D

Well, I don't know now, but last time I tried, it gave error for anything bigger than 50 MB :D and I wasn't the only one... and the idea is simply wrong... I would never put a file on the server of somebody I don't even know, to pass it to somebody else.. it's already "risky" enough to have stuff on your own personal website or server (if not at home)... but to upload it god knows where... simply wrong IMO :D

yahoo is definitely the best. a couple of days ago my mailbox was about to explode because it was so full of mail with loads of attachments from my friends. then all of a sudden, i was only using 3% of my new 100MB space. thanks yahoo! :D

A 100mb mailbox is like a 100 gig HDD. When you're used to a fraction of that you think: if I had a hundred that should suffice. One year later you realise you keep more and more shit on there and you need even more space.

And the worst thing is, just like with a full HDD: to decide what you will keep, where you will store it and what you will chuck out. This will take days... :(

Yeah I know. I hate their new design too, where because of the new HTML/Java that they use, I can't open mutliple messages at once.

Why need 100mb or 1GB? Because my Hotmail account w/ 2mb always get filled up with SPAM within two days. And if I don't clean it out, it gets shut down.

Ever since I got Gmail w/ 1GB I never touched my Hotmail account again. And now w/ Yahoo upgrading their Premium members to 2GB, I don't think I'll EVER have storage problems again.

By the way, yes, 3GB of mail storage is a bit over done. On another note, I also have a SpyMac account :), never use it though.

For me, 10mb to 20mb will be a good size.

you want web based email because of internet secuirty, for instance with a pop account, you have to connect to the mail server, which downloads to your computer, than means any attachments and potential virus' are already on your machine. with web based email your safe knowing that bad stuff isn't on your computer unless you decide to be a moron and open junk mail from someone you don't know...or an accident happens.

Thats a laugh..Email and security don't belong in the same sentence.. It does protect you from worms but it makes it even easier for others to read your email.

Furthermore.. on the subject of yahoos new service.. I hate it. I'm not storing my movie collection on there, I just want quick reliable email service. If I wanted to store my movies Id start a server.

I think are doing this becuase of that Gmail, I heard that Hotmail will also do something like this... Hey it is for the best, let them fight it out, just have all three and get the best of all three worlds.
