Hi there,
Update:
I didn't take the last psx2 cause it couldn't read ps1 game. So I found a friend who sold it at 80€ ! I directly buy it. It is pretty new in a very nice original PSX bag.
The pack contain:
-The PSX (SCPH-30004 V4)
-1 Joypad with hard wire (Sony Dual Chock)
-1 Memory card sony of 8Mb
-The Remote controler for DVD
-No Mod Chip
I just bought it because I love the new granturismo 4 :) I'm waiting for it now.

that's usually a lense calibration problem which means opening it up and adjusting the lense and trying it till all the discs work in it.
And to touch the lense yourself is not always the best (even if you don't have any warranty on it), but I fear the seller kinda forgot to tell you about that..
I have to admit I never played a PSX on PS2 since the PS2 was launched since at first I still had the PSX around and still used it... but still, if he didn't tell you about that detail and he was aware, he was kinda sneaky...

Get it to a professional repair shop , do not try it for yourself a friend did it and the lens got fucked up

could your psx games be coded for the wrong country? just a guess that its something similar to region settings on DVD... game developers have been doing that for years, in order to keep country profits managable, and accurate.
if this is the case, a simple fix is in order of about 15 USD.
i think www.gamecopyworld.com has some more info on those

Last time I had a problem with my PS2, I fixed it myself. I searched thw web and found the problem and fixed it myself. Apparently, if I didn't, then I was going to be charged $80 bucks!! It was ridiculous. First, if I were you, I would go and see how much it would be to fix, then if its up there try to fix it yourself. Go on the web and follow the directions. It worked for me! The problem I had was a disc reading error, and I needed to go in and fix the lense by cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol. your problem seems a little bigger though

maybe your lense is dirty. there are no regional settings for ps1 games unlike ps2 games. therefore, any ps1 game should work with your ps2.
