Argh!!! I HATE BMWs (and Mercs too)!!!

Could it be that there are exactly three kinds of BMW/Merc drivers?
Species A: "Time is money", goes 200km/h on the Autobahn. Everywhere on the Autobahn. Thinks that the second most important part of his car (right after the go-fast pedal) is the light-horn, so that he can proudly display his intentions to go faster than everyone else by a single (or repeated) flash of light. Expects every other traffic participant to move over as it pleases him.

Species B: "Time doesn't matter", always 20km/h below the speed limit, thinks that the most important part of his car is the turn signal, so that he can proudly display his intended route kilometers before the opportunity to turn actually arrives. Expects every other traffic participant to enjoy the sight of the beautiful landscape just as much as he does.

Species C: "Where did I want to go again?", has a constant speed of around 70, regardless of what the speed limit says (that includes "30km/h signs"). Thinks that the most important part of his (or her) car is the Airbag, to protect him (or her) from the hostile outside world and those "people who can't drive decently". Expects everybody else to move over in a hurry, as soon as he notices the lane he is on doesn't actually get along very well with his intended destination.

I've just had the pleasure to meet examples for all three species during a 30 min drive to the university library.

no to be honest, you´re absolutely right, especially german autobahn is "horrible"....when you´re driving 160-180kmh you´re definitely among the slower ppl, every Golf is driving 170, this is quite annoying sometimes...
thank god the 745 has quite some "autobahn prestige", so i´m afraid i´m among the species A as well :wink: :lol:

I always like to place myself behind species A. Makes driving much easier, when you have a sweeper ahead of you :D

The best is when you get a whole convoy of BMW`s or Mercs (Rudelbildung). The only thing I detest besides people not pulling to the right when there is enough space, are those people that drive too fast through a construction site (on the autobahn). That is the only time I strictly follow the tempo limit.

...unfortunately ( !?? ) el. limited to 250kmh, as every german car in that class...
even at top speed it feels like a solid rock, definitely the autobahn cruiser from BMW...
extremely stable, very smooth and firm suspension, even at 200+ very silent, so one can easily use the cell phone while driving at that speeds, good brakes as well, just perfect for my requirements...
there´s no comparison to the older E38 models, i had a E38 750 before and the E65 is by far better in every respect...

naaa, to be honest i prefer to drive safe on public roads i´ve enough time to freak out at the racetrack, so i needn´t drive 250+ all the time...
on a trip to germany or so i usually doesn´t exceed 200kmh....why should i :wink: ....there´s nothing special about that speed in that car, feels like driving 160 in a E46...

i prefer to drive fast in some decent Porsches around EZW or NS :wink: :twisted:

you guys area lucky... the highest posted speed limit where i live is 100km/h, and the police don't give much of a margin.

even when the road is empty, they're strict. i know a guy who got pulled over for doing 130ish km/h on an empty three lane highway at 4:00 am.

I dont think thats fair for BMW/Merc drivers. Im sure theres drivers from all those classes driving every type of car. I know that if there was an autobahn near me, id be pushing the stang to its limits every day. The only problem is the thing gets really darty and unstable at high-speeds... even as low as 130... so at 200+ id deffinitely need some suspension and wheel mods.
